Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is concerned for a disruption that ruined his plans ahead of West Ham clash: after the win in Greece against PAOK in Europa League, the Blues saw their flight home cancelled due to bad weather.

As a result, they have had to wait until today to return to London, with the squad and the staff now scheduled to be back this afternoon, so they stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Thessaloniki for an extra night.

The Italian manager was already said to be concerned about the lack of time between the Europa League and the Premier League matches.

The kick-off times between PAOK and West Ham are little more than 60 hours apart and there is not much time to rest and prepare the derby against Hammers.

The Daily Mail reports Sarri is frustrated by the disruption as he wanted his squad home as soon as possible to prepare for West Ham.

Manuel Pellegrini’s lads have had a full week to work on their plans for Chelsea.

Off the back of their first win, a 3-1 triumph at Everton on Sunday, the Hammers head into the London derby in buoyant mood.

Chelsea will play their first Europa League game tomorrow night as the Blues will face Paok in Greece.

Italian manager Maurizio Sarri has decided to left out of the squad who is travelling to Greece, Belgian star Eden Hazard, defenders David Luiz and Emerson Palmieri and midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

On the other hand, both Cesc Fabregas and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have returned to training and they are part of the squad ready to face Paok tomorrow night.

Last week manager Antonio Conte criticised Roberto Martinez’ decision to include Eden Hazard in the Belgium squad for the two World Cup qualifiers vs Gibraltar and Greece.

Now, despite Hazard played in both games, Conte, according to reports by the London Evening Standard, still wants to delay Eden Hazard return to first-team action.

On Saturday, Chelsea will play Leicester away and the best the Belgian striker can hope for is a place on the Blues bench.

Speaking to ESPN Kostas Manolas agent Yannis Evangelopoulos spoke about the contract extension with Roma.

The contract extension with Roma? It’s possible, but we have to speak to the club to understand their intentions,” the Greek defender agent said.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City were really keen on him last summer and  I am sure these clubs won’t give up on signing him.”

Chelsea and Arsenal have entered the race to sign Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas, according to reports in Italy.

The Greece international star has reportedly failed to agree on a contract extension with the Serie A side and the two Premier League giants are keeping tabs on the 25-year-old defender.

Manuals has made 37 league appearances this season and his contract is going to expire in 2019, but the player is said to be eager to move to Stamford Bridge as he is reportedly unhappy with the Giallorossi.

With John Terry‘s current contract due to expire at the end of this season, Chelsea have been searching for an influential centre-back to take his place in the heart of the defence. It has been reported in recent weeks that Roma‘s Kostas Manolas was to be that player.

However, despite obvious interest from the Blues, Manolas has already began talks with his club over a potential contract renewal which will keep him in Italy for years to come.

This is undoubtedly a massive blow to Chelsea and their need for a quality centre-back but with negotiations already taking place with Manolas and Roma, it suggests that the Greek international has no intentions of moving and is happy where he is.

After Chelsea failed to sign John Stones from Everton, despite taking their offer to a massive £38m. They now face another similar challenge in the pursuit of Roma defender Kostas Manolas.

Chelsea are clearly desperate to land a centre-back and it’s speculated that the London club are willing to offer a staggering £27.5m for the Greece international.

According to Italian newspaper Il Tempo, Roma are unwilling to sell Manolas, after purchasing the player in 2014 and Manolas playing well in his 37 appearances for club and country. Chelsea could face a bidding war with Roma to help persuade the Italian club to let the player leave at the end of the season.

Chelsea have once again been linked with a potential replacement for John Terry, this time in the shape of Roma’s Kostas Manolas.

Chelsea’s terrible run of defending this season has emphasised the fact that Terry is nearing the end of his career and that the club needs to look for a long term replacement.

A drawn out and fruitless pursuit of Everton’s John Stones was followed by a last minute attempt to sign PSG’s Marquinhos, which also failed. The club are believed to still be interested in both but have broadened their search for a new centre-back.

The 24-year-old Greek Manolas is just one of several they are considering.

Italian website Tuttomercatoweb.com report that Chelsea made a last minute bid  to sign Greek defender Kostas Manolas from AS Roma.

The centre-back was repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League before he went to Italian capital side but it’s understood that Roma rejected the Blues offer.

The Giallorossi’s manager Rudy Garcia considers Manolas very important for his team, that yesterday won 2-1 over current Italian champions Juventus and are in pursuit for the title.
