According to Spanish sources, Valencia decided to give up on Giannelli Imbula. This decision brings Chelsea on pole position for Marseille midfielder.
22-year-old Giannelli Imbula since a long time was linked with a move to Valencia, but the Spanish club decided to buy Rodrigo Caio from Sao Paulo instead of the French player.
This decision gives Chelsea a priority in signing young midfielder. According to Express, the Blues are ready to to offer £25million for the player. What’s interesting his buy-out clause talks about £22million. That is why a positive decision appear appear faster than anyone expect. What is more the French club has serious financial problems. Club needs money and Chelsea’s offer is more then tempting.
Marseille president Vincent Labrune said :
“We have to sell someone before the 30th June in line with what we agreed with the DNCG. We have to balance the books.”

Giannelli Imbula started his senior career in 2009 when he joined French Guingamp. He made 91 appearances in which he scored four goals. In 2013 he moved to Olimpique Marseille where in 60 matches he scored three times. In May 2013, he was voted best player of Ligue 2.
