Chelsea winger Willian expresses his disappointment after the Blues were knocked out from the Champions League by PSG with a 4-2 aggregate result.
With no doubt the Chelsea number 22 has been one of the best players in this season so far, but his efforts last night weren’t enough to help the team go through this Champions League phase:
“PSG had more possession but we created so many chances to score,” the Brazilian said to Chelsea website after the game.
“But after they scored the second goal it was more difficult for us. We tried to the end to score more goals but it was not possible. We had to score the next goal [when it was 1-1] but they scored and it was difficult because we had to score three more goals.
“We want more in the Champions League and everyone is disappointed but we have to think about the weekend. The pitch was full of top players, and attacking players from both teams, and they have dangerous players but so have we.
“At 1-1 it could have gone either way. We had a few good counterattacks but they had their chances as well and unfortunately for us, they got an important goal. It is a shame Diego [Costa] had to leave the game [due to injury].
“He was lively when he was on the pitch, he scored a great goal and looked a threat so that was a big blow for us. At 1-1, the next goal was massive and unfortunately they got it. We are gutted we are out. It was a changing room full of disappointment.”
