Eden Hazard was booed off by some of the home crowd at Stamford Bridge when he was substituted in the second half for a probable hip injury. The Belgian anyway didn’t give one of his best performances and Paris Saint Germain knocked out of Champions League him and Chelsea.

Blues boss Hiddink said the player was struggling with a physical problem and also played down Hazard swapping shirts with Di Maria just at half-time. He said: “I haven’t seen it, but I am aware of it. It should not be done, but in some countries it is usual after a game or at half-time, and maybe they are both used to doing it. I don’t want to see a bad thought behind that. It’s not a big issue. I don’t overvalue this issue. There’s no bad intention.”

THE GAME: “It has been a difficult game, we played really well after Rabiot score but we should be more careful. Of course we gave too much respect in the first 10 minutes, they were dominating, but during the second time we were on the edge to be on 2-1 and then Ibrahimovic scored. We weren’t clean in the box. “

PSG: “They are a good side but once we stepped up we had some chances. They are a really difficult to challenge, but we have to consider that we lost playing against a good team. We showed too much respect and their strength in depth made the difference. You saw the difference between the squads when we had to bring young guys on and they have Edinson Cavani to come in. I must say that we had young Kenedy at left-back and he was excellent.”

DIEGO COSTA AND EDEN HAZARD: “Diego wasn’t totally fit but he wanted to play. We all knew that but he desperately wanted to play and scored a beautiful goal. Tomorrow we will check conditions of Hazard and Costa, we have a lot of matches to play such as F.A. Cup clash against Everton.”

THE SEASON: “It is a difficult season. We we’re almost panicking about relegation when I came in but it is difficult to get into fourth place.”

Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink spoke in the press conference ahead of PSG game in the Champions League:

GOLDEN RULES FOR KNOCK-OUT GAMES“If I got golden rules for these games? Those are big words: it’s always good to have an away goal in a European game, big teams, big names in European football, it’s difficult to say what the rules are, but it will be a good clash.

EXPERIENCE“Chelsea won important European trophies and PSG is going in the same kind of project, they are a very good team, they are starting to build up a team, not just individual stars players, so they are on their way, and hopefully we can stop them in their project.

“They have international players, they are experienced players, not just a block of young kids coming up.

DIEGO COSTA – “He had a little problem in the weekend, but today he was in training so we’ll see if he will be fit for tomorrow’s game.

“He scored recently in the PL very frequently, before he had some problems at scoring, and also the team, let’s see if he can make it at the European level as well.

When I see him playing i all the games he played us, under me I think he behaved very well, I love the way he plays, he likes to fight but in the way of the game. I loved how he played in my time at Chelsea.”

PEDRO – “Pedro had a setback recently but he did well and he worked well with the physios, he made a good impression today, so he will be selected for tomorrow.

PENALTIES’ PRACTICE – “We always practice penalties, almost every training, not just before this game.

MOST IMPORTANT GAME OF THE SEASON“The team responded after my arrival and we climbed up the table in the Premier League, we did in relatively short time, our targets must be the FA CUP and the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, of course.

EDEN HAZARD“In Paris he was coming back from his injury time, so we couldn’t expect him to be top fit in that moment, of course now he had some playing time in the league and he improved, so I hope tomorrow he will show what he is capable of, we think he can deliver now that he is on good fitness.

Pato‘s agent Gilmar Veloz spoke about the situation of his player at Chelsea: the Brazilian striker arrived in the last days of January transfer window but he still hasn’t played any minute in the official games.

Many people are wondering what’s going on with him and he explained it Brazilian network Radio Bandeirantes:

“England is not like Brazil, where you sign someone and immediately have to play them.

“The manager was clear and said two or three times that Pato has to wait until he’s reached the [fitness] level of the other players.

“He had four weeks of special training. After the third, he was already starting to get up to speed and waiting for his moment to be in the squad .

“But since he arrived, the team has been winning, with the attackers scoring goals.

“There’s no issue, it’s a normal situation. We have to wait.”

John Terry seems further from PSG clash: Chelsea captain is not training with the group that is on the pitch in this moment but he is working in the gym for personal fitness.

Diego Costa, Remy and Alexandre Pato were regularly training with the team and they can be selected by Guus Hiddink for tomorrow’s game.

We’ll have more team news this evening when the manager will speak at Stamford Bridge at 7 p.m. GMT.

John Terry is going to miss this Wednesday crucial clash against PSG.

The Chelsea captain was tested in the weekend in a practice match but the response the Blues technical staff had was not the one they expected.

I don’t think John will make Wednesday,” boss Guus Hiddink revealed.

“For the time being, there has not been enough development to put him on the list.

It’s not worse – he trained and had treatment on Saturday morning, and he can run, but he cannot go into a longer stretch where you have to accelerate. There he has to be careful.

The Dutch manager gives hope for next weekend FA Cup match against Everton:

“When he is ready to do so, maybe on Tuesday, he will play in a practice match, but I don’t think he will make it. Hopefully, let’s see what can be done for next weekend.”

Diego Costa is injured again © Francesca Ceciarini

Diego Costa was set to start today against Stoke City but a minor tendon injury stopped him to play against Potters.

After the match Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink explained that it was more precaution and that the Spanish striker should be ok for next Wednesday crucial game against PSG:

“He had a little problem on the tendon,” the Dutch coach revealed.

“So that’s why I was bit cautious not to take the risk of worsening the situation. I think he will be OK on Wednesday.”

Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink is obviously frustrated after getting a draw at home against Stoke with the Potters scored the equaliser with five minutes to go:

“Yeah of course frustrating because we conceded a late goal – that is always frustrating.

“We scored a beautiful goal through Traore and then in the second half I think there was one key moment when the penalty was not awarded on Oscar, if you see it it was a clear, clear, clear penalty.

“I don’t often say that, but it would have been given as a free-kick if it was outside the box. I think it was a key moment but we must not say that Stoke was not pushing.

“They got encouraged by that, and they have some very creative players in the attacking part of team. At the end I think it was a fair result.”

He added: “Yeah, that’s difficult, almost impossible. Especially when other teams are also knocking on that door.

“Today’s result of West Ham for instance, we are respectful that they are also knocking on that door as well.

“You have to win, as we said, all the games.

“At the other end we know where we come from in December, one point off the relegation zone, amazingly we did it in a relatively short time to get safe of course, but also going into the mid of the table.

“Normally at Chelsea the standard is not enough, but after this season, If we can go into a very beautiful March and April it would be nice – I am referring to the upcoming Champions League and FA Cup competitions.”

Chelsea were great value for their 1-0 lead at half time. They grew in confidence as the half progressed and a fantastic goal from Traore in the 39th minute saw them in at the break with the lead.

After 70 minutes had passed, Chelsea still kept up the high pressure and always looked threatening when going forward.

The 74th minute saw a Willian free-kick from 30-yards fizz passed Jack Butlands right hand post.

After some Stoke pressure, in the 85th minute Diouf finds himself in the box with a good header and a mistake from Courtois see’s the ball fly into the Chelsea net.
