Alvaro Morata is a new Chelsea player, but he could have signed also for Tottenham according to what Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino revealed to The Guardian.

The Spanish striker, it seems, was afraid of the presence of Harry Kane in the team and so he decided not to sign for Tottenham: “Morata talked about myself, in the media, he said: ‘Mauricio called me,” – Pochettino said. “That was from the beginning, two years ago or more. He said to me: ‘Why do you want me if you have Harry Kane?’ You know, if you go to try to sign a striker, they will say: ‘Eh, gaffer, you want me for what? To be on the bench?”

Tottenham Hotspur will face West Ham in a crucial London Derby on Friday night as the title race is getting to the heart.

Anyway, Spurs’ forward Harry Kane, who’s scored 21 goals in the Premier League so far, is confident ahead of the clash: “It is good to go first. – the England international told Daily Star – We have got to try to drop the gap to one point and see what happens,”

“Chelsea will have all weekend to think about it. We knew what it was like last year with Leicester playing before us and even before Sunday’s game with Arsenal”.

Then Kane added: “It is difficult. It is good to try to play first and try to put that pressure on, so it will be good to play on Friday night. Hopefully we can get that win, put that pressure on and wait and see.”

Then Chelsea will host Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge on Monday Night.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has admitted his side did and will do everything to win and lift the Premier League trophy for Ugo Ehiogu, who tragically passed away two days ago.

“Of course, we’ll do everything we can to win the league for him. – Kane said after the FA Cup semifinal against Chelsea – Of course the last couple of days have been tough. Ugo was a great character around the training ground, and it was just shocking news”.

“But that is no excuse for what happened against Chelsea, as we still had a job to do. I thought we did very well and probably deserved more but when you play the big teams on the big stage you need those big moments to go your way they didn’t”.

“We wanted to win for him and for ourselves as well. There are still six tough games left in the Premier League and we can’t control what Chelsea do now” Kane added.

The England international ended: “We just have to win as many as we can and it starts Wednesday with a tough game away at Palace.”
