Alvaro Morata was named the man of the match in Chelsea‘s home win against Crystal Palace, however the Spaniard admitted he was disappointed he didn’t grab a hat-trick today.

He told SkySports: “It’s not the perfect day, but we take the three points and we are in the top three and that’s the important thing for us. We want to fight for the Premier League title and we played well today.

“Today I thought a lot about the hat-trick. I am improving and want to keep working and help the team.”

Morata has now scored five Premier League goals, enjoying a fresh new start under Maurizio Sarri‘s management at Chelsea in Chelsea’s attacking third. The former Juventus and Real Madrid striker went close to scoring also the 4-1 but Hennessey blocked his effort from a close range.

After his impressive hat-trick against Bate Borisov in Europa League Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri praised Ruben Loftus-Cheek who used the chance the manager gave him last night at the best:

“At the beginning of the season he was a very good player, now he is a good player more suitable to my way of football I think,” said Sarri after the game.

“We have a tactical problem with the midfielders because for two positions we have four midfielders and three of them have the same characteristics.

“They are offensive midfielders, only one has other characteristics. Kante is a defensive midfielder.

“So it is very difficult to put in the starting XI two midfielders with the same characteristics.”

Chelsea sold Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid few days ago, but Alvaro Morata, scoring a hattrick yesterday vs Stoke City demostrated that Blues fans shouldn’t worry.

Former Chelsea player Glenn Hoddle also believes now Antonio Conte’s team are better with Alvaro Morata rather than Diego Costa. “Morata and Harry Kane are all-round centre forwards,” – Hoddle told BT Sport. – “He can get headed goals. Plays off his left and off his right, he’s got great movement. Internally there’s no problems with him, he’s not going to cause a problem with team spirit and I think they’re a better team for it.”

Speaking after the final whistle Chelsea boss Antonio Conte praised Blues striker Alvaro Morata, who scored a hat-trick in the 4-0 win at Stoke this afternoon:

“I think he played very well and to score for a striker it is very important.

The Italian manager hailed the team as well:

“I am pleased for him and the performance of the team. It is not easy to win away at Stoke, like last season we struggled and won at the end.

“Today we started very well and were very good to suffer.

“It was good to keep our composure. We created many chances. The final result was 4-0 but it was a tough game.”

Manchester City captain Yaya Toure was clearly satisfied after the good win his team obtained this afternoon at Stamford Bridge, closing a wonderful week for Citizens that started with the historical qualification to Champions League semifinals:

“We played very well and started by trying to control the game and I thought the whole team played really well,” the Ivorian champions said after the game.

“I think it was one of the best games we’ve played this season because it is not easy to dominate the way we did when playing at Stamford Bridge where it is always difficult.

“When Samir [Nasri], De Bruyne and Aguero are on the field together they play very well and can hurt the opposition.”

“I like to play everywhere to help the team,” he said.

“I was delighted to help my team-mates because I’ve missed two or three games through injury and it’s always difficult for me to watch my team-mates play without me.

“So today was fantastic and I really enjoyed it. I always want to be involved and help my team whenever I can. I always want to work hard and that’s what I will continue to do because we want to finish the season as strongly as possible.”

Ex Chelsea player Romelu Lukaku speaks ahead of the FA Cup clash that he will play against his former team next Saturday at Goodison Park.

The Belgian striker thinks the Blues have improved since their last visit in September, when the Toffees won thanks to a Steven Naismith‘s hat-trick.

Meanwhile the Scottish forward moved to Norwich, but this time Lukaku can be the real threat to watch out from:

“I think Chelsea team from that moment [the September win] is not the same Chelsea team as now,” Lukaku told Everton TV.

“The players in the team are back scoring again, Diego Costa is scoring again, Hazard is gaining momentum so it’s going to be a totally different game.

“In football you should never compare one game to another. We will have to be better than them and sharper than them to win the game.

“It’s nice to play against a good side. For a player you want to play against those big teams.

“To me it doesn’t matter when, I just want to play against the big teams all the time.”

Roberto Martinez hailed hat-trick hero Steven Naismith to inspire Everton’s 3-1 win over Chelsea.

During the post match press conference Martinez said :

“Steven’s performance typified the effort and the character that we have at Everton,”

“He hasn’t been in the starting XI and all he did was focus and be ready to take his moment and the moment that that arrived he’s put things in place that have really made a difference. ”

“To score a perfect hat-trick against the current champions, I think that shows you a lot and I think he’s the type of example that we want at Everton to the younger players, to show them that you need to be ready and you need to prepare yourself so that when you get your opportunity on the pitch you can take it. It was a real joy to see Steven enjoying that sort of performance.”

“We have a strong squad but the attitude is everything,”

“Sometimes you play against the champions and you can beat them through lucky breaks after weathering the storm, but that wasn’t the case. ”

“For 90 minutes we restricted them to two shots on target – one a terrific strike from Nemanja Matic from long range for their goal and the other was a header from Radamael Falcao. ”

“We kept the ball well when we had too, we scored three goals from open play against probably the most defensive set-up that Chelsea had this season. We looked dynamic and strong going forward and the difference was the second-half performance.”
