Liverpool are second in the table, 6 points under Chelsea, but derby hero Sadio Mane – who scored the winner at 94′ last Monday- said the Reds are just focused on themselves and don’t think too much in chasing the Blues, that seem unstoppable in this moment:

“I think wins like this show we’ll be there, yes,” said the Senegal international speaking about the derby.

“We are focusing on our team. It was important to get the three points at Everton. It is still early to talk about what is going to happen and we are thinking about ourselves, not Chelsea.

“But one of our ambitions is to go far as possible and we are going to try and do that.”

Premier League fans vote Kante as best player!
As Chelsea have once again gone even more clear at the top of the Premier League Table, 53% of football fans publicly vote their £30 million Defensive-Midfielder, NGOLO KANTE as ‘Best Player’.  Mark Schwarzer in a BBC Radio 5 Live debate says that the 25 year old Frenchman who he played with last season was ‘100 percent (the best player in the premier league) and has an unbelievable engine”.

Mark Schwarzer, after goal-keeping for last season’s Champions, Leicester City as a strong  back up to Kasper Schmeichel, continually spoke highly of Kante as being ‘top of everything’ from the stats of last season. Despite him not having a club at present to play for this season, Schwarzer on the BBC Radio 5 Live debate added that ‘he (Kante) has made life much easier for his fellow creative Chelsea midfield players due to his ability to do the job of two players’.  The Sunday after another Saturday weekend victory where Chelsea have won another three points, the online poll of the Mirror Sport shows not only that the majority of the public voted Kante as the ‘best player’ but also as an ‘unsung hero’. Chelsea strike force and creative players including: Moses, Hazard, Costa, Willian, Fabregas etc. may constantly grab the headlines and vital players like Kante remain unsung say the fans in a majority vote. The Mirror Sport poll showing the public vote of 53% in favour of Kante being the  BEST PLAYER in the Premier League.

On Sunday, January 31st, the news broke that Chelsea captain John Terry would be leaving the club due to his contract not being renewed, after an 18-year career at his boyhood team.

The Blues legend made the announcement after the 5-1 win at MK Dons in the FA Cup 4th round. In his statement Terry goes on to say “It’s not going to be a fairytale ending, I’m not going to retire at Chelsea.”

Terry, 35, made his debut for Chelsea in 1998, at the age of just 18 and went on to first captain the Blues in 2001 when he was 21. He was then appointed team captain soon after for the 03/04 season under Claudio Ranieri, taking over from French World Cup winning central defending partner Marcel Desailly after he left the club. Terry went on to have a glittering career for the Blues, winning the Premier League title four times, the FA Cup five times, the League Cup four times, the Champions League once and the Europa League once.

The former England captain divides opinion, due to problems with his personal life in the past, but no one can deny his ability as a player. Least of all the Chelsea faithful, who watch their captain week in and week out putting his body on the line for their team. The banner titled ‘Captain, Leader, Legend’ with a picture of the man himself next to it, hangs down from the Matthew Harding stand very aptly. As the man who’s given so much to the club will be remembered by all of the fans, old and new, who enter the stadium and see their hero’s legacy hanging from the clubs most iconic stand.

Last season Terry achieved the feat of playing in every minute of every game in a title winning season, something that has only been done once before by Manchester United’s Gary Pallister in the 92/93 season. This underlined his worth to the team at the age of 34, putting in consistent winning performances and even when the title was won, he still wanted to play and demonstrate the passion needed to play for a club like Chelsea.

Many will say that was the centre-backs best season for the Blues, and less then one year on, the club have decided not to renew his contract. While it is being reported that the club are still undecided on whether to offer their captain a new deal, many will be hoping the tide changes and the 35 year-old stays.

Terry, now the Premier League’s top scoring defender with 40 goals, is adored by the clubs fans, who will be further disappointed following this, in the same season which has seen Chelsea legend Jose Mourinho relieved of his duties. The rebuilding process that will need to be undertaken next season has been made even more difficult, the appointment of a manager and a new club captain is a huge task.

Plenty of the fans will point the finger at Chelsea’s Technical Director Michael Emenalo, who earlier in the season described there to be a “palpable discord” between the players and Mourinho, he also has a big say in player contracts and would play a pivotal role in offering the Chelsea skipper a new deal.

The fans will always remember Terry as the spear head for the most successful spell in the clubs 111 year history. He will continue to give his all for the club to be successful this season and we all hope he can go out on high.

cuadrado airport

Chelsea flop Juan Cuadrado moved on season-long loan to Juventus and was received like a hero last night by Bianconeri‘s fans at Milan Malpensa airport, not far from Turin too.

At least one hundred people were waiting for the Colombian at the Italian airport, and he was immediately mobbed by cheering and screaming supporters, that welcomed him like a hero: Cuadrado impressed during his last two seasons in Serie A, so the player is still considered a very good signing in Italy.

The winger then headed to Turin, where he’s having a medical test in the moment we’re publishing this article.

The loan in the Serie A side will last for the whole season and costed £1m to Juventus: Chelsea boss José Mourinho and the club board took this decision after the Colombian failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, after he was paid 23.3m in the last transfer winter window.

Juventus won’t have any option to buy the player at the end of the season.

THIBAUT COURTOIS PENALTY PSG
The Blues won their last game thanks to Thibaut Courtois' penalty

Thibaut Courtois was Chelsea hero last night against PSG: the Belgian goalkeeper made a couple of great saves in the of the 90 minutes that preserved the 1-1 score and then shot the perfect penalty kick that gave the Blues the victory at penalty shootout.

The Chelsea number 1 spoke to Chelsea TV after the match was over:

“It’s a nice feeling, I think is a good thing because in the Champions League it can happen, you can train these things on trainings but not in a game so, even though it’s pre-season, you have the feeling that you have to score and you have to try to win the shootout. I was in the first five, but it was plenty of people so I said ‘I take the sixth one’.

“This is the first penalty I score: when I was younger I took one, but I was 12 and I missed it so after that I didn’t dare, the manager and the goalkeeper coach told me to shoot because I could do it and to train on it: it has worked well so, very good.

“It was a very good game, I think PSG got a strong squad: in the first half we had a little bit of trouble, Asmir [Begovic] made good saves, in the second half we had a little more of control, we scored and then in the end I made this save. It was a good pre-season game. FC Barcelona will be also a good test before our game on Sunday against Arsenal.

“In the pre-season when you have in such stadia and against such big teams of course you get more motivation so we can get prepared in the first trophy game in Wembley.

“We had a good game, maybe we had some 15-20 bad minutes in the first half, but we’re training very hard and it’s good to play 90 minutes game, [I guess] we’re doing very well.
