Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored three goals as the Blues beat Belarusian side BATE Borisov at Stamford Bridge tonight. Maurizio Sarri‘s start in Europa League remains perfect after victories against PAOK and Vidi earlier in the competition.
Loftus-Cheek, who was selected to feature in the starting XI along with Mateo Kovacic and Cesc Fabregas, scored his first goal of the season in the 2nd minute of the game, well assisted by Davide Zappacosta, before turning home from a close range a few minutes later. Then sealed a hat-trick by firing the ball past Shcherbitski from the edge of the area. The England international had scored his last goal with Chelsea against Aston Villa, in the Premier League, back in April 2016.
BATE Borisov managed to score a late consolation goal from a free-kick, when Rios was left unmarked by Chelsea defenders at the back post. The Blues end up the game two goals ahead and remain leaders of Group L with 9 points from 3 games.
