Antonio Conte believes Chelsea have the obligation to win every game with or without a squad rotation. The Italian manager responded to questions regarding his decision to keep Eden Hazard, Victor Moses and Gary Cahill on the bench for Premier League clash against Huddersfield. When asked if the rotation was due to the upcoming FA Cup final at Wembley, Conte said: “No, absolutely not. I did the rotation also against Burnley. To make rotation, it means playing with players like Morata, Willian and Christensen, players who usually are in the line-up from the start”.

“It’s stupid if we think rotation was a problem. We are Chelsea. We have a big squad and players who can play the whole game, but they must win. At Burnley we won the rotation was good. We spent a lot of energy against Liverpool. People said that line-up was not good, but we won. This is football.”

Chelsea wing-back Marcos Alonso believes the Blues clearly dominated the game against Huddersfield Town at Stamford Bridge before and after conceding ‘a silly goal’ early in the second half.

The Spaniard, who spoke following the 1-1 draw at home, told Chelsea’s official website: “We’re very disappointed. we were so unlucky as we dominated the game and conceded a silly goal and then we couldn’t score”.

On Huddersfield: “They played a bad game, trying to waste time from the first minute and I think the referee stopped it very late. Their goalkeeper was taking a minute over his goal-kicks from the first minute of the game and he only received a yellow card with five minutes to go”,

“I don’t think that’s the right way, he should have stopped that before, but still we conceded the goal and failed to score from our chances”.

Huge achievement for David Wagner as Huddersfield Town will play in the Premier League also in the next campaign, following their away draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

This result means that only Swansea and Southampton remain in the race to avoid the relegation. On the other hand, West Bromwich Albion will play in the Sky Bet Championship 2018/19 as Manolo Gabbiadini’s late goal sealed a crucial win at Liberty Stadium for Saints.

Chelsea’s Champions League hopes are further after 1-1 draw against Huddersfield

Chelsea fail to get a vital win at Stamford Bridge as Huddersfield produced a brilliant defensive display following Depoitre’s controversial opener in the 56th minute. The Belgian striker ran towards the penalty area, with Caballero off the line, and the two collided. Antonio Rudiger and Alvaro Morata had two huge chances missed previously in the first half.

Just an incredible defensive clearance which hit Marcos Alonso‘s face secured Chelsea a very bizarre equalizer. The Blues pushed for a further reaction, but the visitors’ defense has been able to resist until the final whistle.

If Spurs are mathematically qualified for next Champions League’s group stages (thanks to their home win over Newcastle United), Chelsea will need a win against the Magpies at St.James’ Park next week to keep the hope alive. On the other hand, if Liverpool get at least one point against Brighton at Anfield on Sunday, this would mean that Antonio Conte’s men will play in the Europa League next season.

Huddersfield Town have announced today that midfielder Kasey Palmer will leave the club as Chelsea recalled him from season-long loan at the recently-promoted Premier League side.

Palmer, 21-year-old, played his last game for Huddersfield in December after recovering from a hamstring injury. “He’s a great character and we wish him all the best” said Huddersfield manager David Wagner.

Also striker Ike Ugbo has been recalled from his loan to Championship side Barnsley earlier this morning.

Chelsea defender and captain Gary Cahill has praised his teammate Andreas Christensen, who’s currently replacing David Luiz in the centre of defense, alongside the England international and Cesar Azpilicueta.

Cahill told BT Sports“At this football club, you don’t get given gifts, you don’t get given time to play if you’re not good enough. He’s proven that he’s more than capable. He’s growing stronger and stronger every game he plays. It’s natural as well, you get more belief and more confidence from his performances. He’s proven to be a very good footballer”.

“You don’t have to worry every two minutes what he’s doing or what he’s up to or telling him to go here or go there. And that’s a worrying factor. I think it’s one of the positives things you don’t have to do. You feel you can leave him to play his own game. He’s a very good footballer and he can only improve.”

“I think we must be very happy for the performance” said Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, speaking at a press conference following his side’s 1-3 victory over Huddersfield Town tonight.

“We showed a great personality and desire to win the game against a very good team. They beat Manchester United and also Man City struggled to win, this victory improves our confidence after a defeat against West Ham”.

“Chelsea won seven games from the last nine, we drew against Liverpool away and lost at West Ham. I think we are doing a great path but there is a team that is doing a special thing. We have to continue in this way to try to play this football, my players enjoyed to play this type of football. I saw a lot of positive things, but one negative was to concede at the end and we must improve in this because it is important to keep clean sheets, for the goalkeeper and the team”.

The Italian manager added: “This is a big win, on the paper we have played two games at home with Swansea and Newcastle. They have a good coach and organisation, it is not simple to win here. To win against them is not simple”.

Former Chelsea player Joe Cole spoke following tonight’s 1-3 win over Huddersfield Town, a game in which Eden Hazard was not among the goalscorers despite e brilliant performance showed on the pitch.

“He’s one of the those players that when you’ve got a gem like him in your side you’ve got to build around him” Joe Cole said.

“What makes him special is his game intelligence. He always makes the right decisions, and he’s strong as an ox. He plays like he plays in the playground”.

Tiemoue Bakayoko, Willian and Pedro all scored in Chelsea’s away victory over Huddersfield Town tonight. The Premier League champions are now level on points with Manchester United, despite the Red Devils still with one game in hand to be played tomorrow (vs Bournemouth at Old Trafford).

Alvaro Morata scored three times in the last six games for Chelsea, remaining the 3rd best goalscorer in Premier League level on goals with Manchester City stars Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, speaking at a press conference ahead of tonight’s clash against Huddersfield, told reporters:David Luiz is continuing to recover from his knee problem. And Alvaro Morata is out. He is a bit tired and he has a problem in his back”.

The Italian manager confirmed Danny Drinkwater is recovered and available for the game after four days out with a fever: “Drinkwater started to train on Sunday and he’s come with us, but for sure after three or four days with a fever, his physical condition is not at the top level” Conte said.
