Chelsea boss Antonio Conte confirmed Blues defender David Luiz will be fit for Atletico Madrid Champions League, schedule next Wednesday 27 September at the new Colchoneros stadium “Wanda Metropolitano”.

It’s understood that Luiz broke his left wrist in the final second of the first half in the Arsenal derby last Sunday: the Brazilian player was eventually sent off for a bad challenge on Sead Kolasinac and received a three-game-suspension, but he will available in Champions League:

“He must be okay. David is an important player for us. For sure he will be ready for the game against Atletico Madrid,” Conte told reporters last night after the 5-1 win over Nottingham Forest in League Cup.

The time has come: after playing only some minutes as a substitute against Qarabag and Arsenal, Eden Hazard is ready to start his first game with Chelsea in this season.

The Belgian star spent all summer recovering from a broken ankle injury and Blues boss Antonio Conte decided that tomorrow’s League Cup game is the right one to be back in action for real:

“I think for Eden now is the right moment to start the game and try to play the whole game,” he said ahead of tomorrow night’s game against Nottingham Forest.

“I hope to be, with him, at the final step for the injury. I think we have managed very well his situation. In my career I was injured a lot of times and I have a bit of experience about this situation.

“I think with him, we are managing the situation very well. Now he is ready to start the game and I hope to stay, with him, the final step.”

A breaking news coming only one hour and half before Chelsea v Arsenal kick-off: Mesut Ozil is set to miss the derby due to a muscle injury.

The former Real Madrid star sat out the midweek Europa League victory against Cologne, with Arsene Wenger saying ahead of that match that Ozil would be ‘rested’.

As Sportsmail reports, the German midfielder will not feature in Sunday’s clash at Stamford Bridge as he is struggling with a muscle injury.

On Friday Wenger admitted that Ozil and Aaron Ramsey were both doubts, a huge blow for the Gunners who will miss a fundamental player for this important game.

Huddersfield Town striker Kasey Palmer, on loan from Chelsea, picked up an injury during England U21 game last week and now he’s ready to go back to Cobham to recover.

The youngster suffered a lesion in his hamstring, and speaking about this Huddersfield Town manager, David Wagner, has remarked to the media,

‘The injury is more or less as big as it was before so we will have to make further investigations but he will be out for a few months.’

Last season Palmer suffered a similar injury who left him on the side-lines for three months.

Antonio Conte was obviously happy to see Eden Hazard back onto the pitch, but the Blues boss is cautious about the Belgian star who recovered all summer long from a broken ankle injury:

“This is good news for us,” said Conte after his side’s win against Leicester City.

“For sure he needs time to be 100 per cent but for us his recovery is very important.”

Chelsea are in action again on Tuesday night at home to Qarabag in and Hazard could get another run-out in the Champions League group game opener:

“We all know very well the importance of Hazard for us.

“Now we must have patience to give him the possibility to improve his form, but I am pleased for him because after a bad injury it’s great to see him with us”.
