Manchester City defender John Stones is pleased after being selected in Gareth Southgate‘s 23-man squad to face Malta and believes that ‘playing with an experienced player as Gary Cahill is good’.
Stones, when asked about his partnership with Chelsea defender Gary Cahill, told medias: “I’d like to continue playing with him”.
“Whether it’s Phil Jagielka, Chris Smalling, sometimes you’re not going to play and watching from the sidelines, watching those guys, trying to improve off them I suppose. They’ve been here, got a lot of caps, played a lot of games for club as well.
Then he added: “Whatever partnership plays for England is always a strong one because the training we do and how we work in training is always different combinations so we all know how each other play.”
It is understood Chelsea repeatedly tried to land Stones to Stamford Bridge this summer.
