Chelsea have not given up on signing Kalidou Koulibaly despite Napoli turning down an offer worth up to £42m, the Evening Standard reports.

Chelsea are reportedly looking to offer the Senegalese international £60,000-a-week over five years, with a £37m bid tabled for the 25-year-old so far.

Antonio Conte is desperately looking for a centre-back to revamp his defense as he cannot fully rely on the ones in his squad now: John Terry is almost 36, Kurt Zouma is coming back from a very serious injury and Gary Cahill never shown to be the top player the Blues were looking for back there.

Antonio Conte remarked again the importance of captain John Terry for Chelsea:

“John has always played for this club, I think he is in the history of this club.

“And it’s important for me that he can explain what it means to play for this club, what it means to wear this shirt, this badge. I think it’s important in the dressing room.

The Italian coach hope to maintain a good relationship with Terry, that can help him to build a new winning team at Stamford Bridge:

“I have spoken with him. In the future it’s important to have this relationship because he is the captain of our team and it’s important also to transfer sometimes message.

“I think to have a good relationship is very important with John and the other players, always with great education and respect.”

New Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is sure he can rely on a special player in his new adventure at Stamford Bridge: the captain and the leader John Terry.

The Italian coach praised the Chelsea legend during an interview:

“John is in the history of this club. He can explain what it means to wear this shirt, this badge.

“He is the captain, he can transfer messages. To have a good relationship with John and the other players is important – and always with respect. I give that – but I demand that.”

And Conte thinks that Terry has a good few years in him yet:

“A player must play as long as he feels able to.

“If he has the will to go every day to training, to go away from his wife and children for many days. John can do this – because I see he has this will.”

Chelsea captain John Terry revealed to have been impressed with the Blues‘ most important signing of this summer: N’Golo Kante.

The French midfielder joined his new team-mates only one week ago in Los Angeles but he already made an impact in the squad and last night made his Chelsea debut playing almost forty minutes in the 3-1 win against Milan, showing his usual stamina.

It is a great signing for us and he was incredible last year,”  Terry told Goal.com right after the final whistle.

“It is great to have him part of our squad and all the new boys we have got are looking good so I am delighted.

“Kante was very good tonight, he has looked very good in training but he has not been back too long.”

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, speaking about John Terry‘s contract extension with the Blues, told Goal.com: “We were buzzing when we found out he signed again, he has been here for so long, he is such a good leader.”

“I think if we had lost John, we would have a lot less leadership in the dressing room. So we are buzzing to have him here still.”

“He brings experience with what he has done and he is such a nice person as well. He brings everyone together, everyone has respect for him.”

The 20-year-old added: “They listen to him, he is the captain of Chelsea, we respect him for that and he is such a nice person. He will help you and try and sort things out. He is just a top man really.”

The future of Chelsea defender John Terry was under a lot of speculation at the end of last season. He was looking towards the exit door after the Blues refused to offer him a contract extension.

It wasn’t until Antonio Conte came in as boss that he was offered another year to stay with the club, which Terry welcomed with open arms.

During his first press conference, Conte told reporters of his excitement to have Terry in the team because he knows so much about the club. He also insisted that the former England international will remain as the club captain.

“Yes, John Terry is the captain of Chelsea… when he plays, when he doesn’t play. John Terry signed a contract as a player. He is a captain of this team, a great player with a great personality.

“I like to speak with him because he knows the club, the right spirit to play in this club and for me, he’s an important player for me, for the club, for the fans. He signed in May but the decision was taken together, with the club.

“Of course I am very pleased John Tery has signed a new contract with Chelsea. I have spoken with him at different times. It is important for that John, when he signed, was very, very happy.”
