According to reports in the Telegraph, Chelsea are to place a £15.5 million bid for Napoli winger Jose Callejon.
The Blues are said to be leading the race for the former Real Madrid winger, who has also attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham.
It’s believed that Spanish side Atletico Madrid have made a £12 million bid – Napoli however are looking to hold out for at least £16 million.
Reports in Spain claim that Jose Mourinho has held talks with the 28-year old, and is close to signing him. Callejon scored 11 goals in Serie A last season as Napoli finished fifth, but missed out on European football.
The Chelsea boss already has a good relationship with the Spaniard, having brought Callejon to Real during his stint in charge at the Bernabeu. The winger was then part of the Blancos squad that won La Liga back in 2011/12.
