Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp gave his thoughts following the 1-2 loss to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup at Anfield last night. The German boss has confirmed a sloppy defending from his team was determinant to give the Blues “too much space” to attack and bounce back in the second period.

He told journalists: “We knew how Chelsea wanted to play but we gave them too much space and weren’t compact enough.

“The linesman is in a really good position. There was so much in the game. Unfortunately in the end we have to take it. We wanted to win it, we feel unlucky, we hit the bar.

“I think the first goal is offside. Three players are offside – two for sure. They watched it and didn’t think it was offside. We have to take it.

This is good preparation for Saturday but we have to defend better.”

Eden Hazard came from the bench tonight and scored a stunner which let Chelsea defeat Liverpool and advance to the Carabao Cup fourth round.

Maurizio Sarri‘s side and Jurgen Klopp team will meet again on Saturday at Stamford Bridge and Hazard believes tonight’s win will give the Blues more confidence ahead of this game which will be more important, according to the Belgian star, than tonight’s one.

“This result will give us more confidence because we drew with West Ham four days ago”. Hazard told Sky Sports“The game on Saturday is more important. We have got to try and beat Liverpool on Saturday”.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said his team will take tomorrow’s Carabao Cup‘s game vs Chelsea very seriously and that he won’t make many changes to his usual Starting XI.

It’s a competition we like, we showed that especially in my first season. Now we want to show we are ready for that as well. It’s a home game, floodlights, I like it! It’s a sell out at Anfield. it’s a very strong side, so it will be interesting,” Klopp said. “The only position I will confirm today is Simon [Mignolet]. Simon will start. All the rest, you have to wait until tomorrow. But it will be a good team, believe me! I won’t even name the number of changes I will make. One I already confirmed, so it cannot be nil, and it will for sure not be 11. With our rythmn we are used to playing three times a week so let’s do it”.

Klopp also praised the Blues’ boss Maurizio Sarri and claimed Chelsea could fight until the end of the season for the Premier League title:  “The biggest change I ever saw in such a short space of time. Wow. Style completely different. What a manager he is, to be honest,”Klopp said.  “I’m pretty much a supporter of his since I saw him playing at Naples. Outstanding football, and now doing it in a very interrupted pre-season. Eden was not there, Giroud, Kante. Starting the season and you see immediately the impact? All my respect. It’s really good to watch. Good job so far. People were always talking about City being clear, and completely forgot Chelsea. This team is really experienced. It won the title before, 80 per cent won it twice, and they know how it works. That’s a really strong football team.”

This week could be a crucial week in Chelsea‘s season: the Blues will face Liverpool twice, firstly in Carabao Cup and then at Stamford Bridge in a Premier League‘s game.

Belgian star Eden Hazard has sent a warning to Jurgen Klopp and his team:

Next weekend we play Liverpool at home. I hope we can keep this momentum and keep winning games”. The striker told the club’s official website. “Everyone can score goals and create chances, so that’s why we have been good. We need to keep playing like this and we have confidence at the moment to do so. “Liverpoo is the kind of game where you want to shine, so we will I hope.”

The Italian club, however, have accepted today Liverpool‘s bid and the Brazilian is now heading to England to undergo his medicals, sign his contract and become a new player available for Jurgen Klopp‘s team.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Kloop believes tomorrow’s Premier League game vs Chelsea will be very similar to the game the Reds played vs As Roma this week.

Chelsea is a similar situation to the [Roma] game – fighting with all they have, they don’t have anything to lose,” Klopp told Liverpool official website. If we draw it’s not good for them; if we win it’s not good for them. They have to win and they will try to do so. It’s like a Champions League semi-final, to be honest”.

The German manager, so, said his team will do all they can to win tomorrow at Stamford Bridge and guarantee a place in the Premier League top-four.

“We will see what we can do there. The good thing is that we have another game but we don’t think about that at the moment. We need to be ready for the game.” Klopp went on. “We had a few really nice moments already this season but you never have time to celebrate it for a second! There is always the next one. Now we have to play that game – Chelsea are waiting.”

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - NOVEMBER 25: Jurgen Klopp, Manager of Liverpool speaks with referee Michael Oliver after the Premier League match between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield on November 25, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is angry at Michael Oliver as he claims the referee didn’t give him enough time to change his team’s shape to protect the lead after Mo Salah’s goal last night:

“I was angry because we wanted to change the system but the ref didn’t give us the opportunity,” the German manager told BT Sport.

“I don’t know what he thought in this moment, he told me something about taking too long, I don’t understand it.

“How can we take too long? We didn’t want to time waste, we wanted to change the system and that’s why I was angry.”

He added in his post-match press conference: “In my mind Ragnar Klavan would have been exactly in the position where Willian crossed the ball. Maybe we would have blocked the cross. So, it doesn’t feel too well when we couldn’t change the system.”

Liverpool went close to winning the game against Chelsea at Anfield as Mohamed Salah‘s goal gave the lead with 25’ left to go, before Willian leveled up the clash with a strange shot which dropped over the head of Mignolet.

Reds‘ head coach Jurgen Klopp told BT Sport he’s massively disappointed with a decision of referee Michael Oliver: “After Willian’s goal I was angry because we wanted to make a change and change the system and the ref wouldn’t let us. He said it would take too long. I don’t understand it, how can a change take too long?”

“We wanted to change to five in the back, in that moment it could have helped a lot. That’s where Willian popped up with the goal, and that’s why I was angry”.

Liverpool remain three points behind Chelsea, sitting 5th on the table right behind Tottenham Hotspur, who were stopped by West Bromwich Albion earlier today.
