Even if Chelsea defeated Dinamo Kiev 3-0 one week ago at Stamford Bridge, the Blues manager Maurizio Sarri doesn’t want to underestimate tonight’s opponent in Europa League last 16’s second leg.

I want to send to my team the message that the match is very important. I don’t want to make a mistake in this”. the Italian explained in his pre-game press conference.

Then, Sarri himself gave an irritated response when asked if Callum Hudson-Odoi will be in the Starting XI: Why not (Ethan) Ampadu? Tell me the difference,” Sarri said. “I have a lot of players of course. I know very well that for you (the media) Odoi is the best, but for me I want to see them all at the same level. Odoi is doing very well in the last period. He will be for sure in the 18 – maybe on the pitch, I don’t know. As you know, in the last match Odoi was the first change. So you know very well that Odoi is on my mind for every match.”

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri believes the 3-0 against Dynamo Kiev at Stamford Bridge in the first-leg of Europa League last-16 ‘is a good result’ as the Blues have a comfortable lead ahead of their trip to Ukraine next week.

Speaking at a press conference after the game, the Italian added: “We were able to not concede, and to not concede a goal at home is very important in this competition. We could have scored more, especially in the first half”.

“Now we have to be careful. We have to go there with a very good level of application and determination if we want to qualify”.

Sarri said: “If you concede a goal you can go mentally in trouble. We have to go there with the right level of attention”.

“He played very well, also in the defensive phase. He missed two or three goals but he played a very good match”.

Chelsea are still far from perfection despite beating 3-0 Swedish side Malmo in the Europa League last-32 second-tie at Stamford Bridge tonight.

Maurizio Sarri‘s men booked a place to the next round of competition thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud, Ross Barkley and Callum Hudson-Odoi in a dominant second half.

The Frenchman netted his sixth goal in five Europa League appearances with Chelsea this season, before the England international converted a free-kick with a curled shot a few minutes before Malmo’s Bengtsson was shown a red card. The 18-year-old made it 3-0 with 5 minutes left to go, brilliantly assisted by Willian.

The draw for Europa League round of 16 takes place in Nyon on Friday 22 February (13:00CET ).

It is understood Sarri has two more games to win (Carabao Cup final against Man United as well as Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur) as he wants to gain trust of Chelsea board following the recent disappointing results as Blues’ manager.

Great performance today by Willian in Russia 2018 World Cup’s last 16 game in which Brazil faced Mexico.

The Chelsea winger provided the assist for Neymar‘s goal at the beginning of the second half and was one of the best players on the pitch.

Brazil won the game 2-0, also with the injury time’s goal by Liverpool‘s striker Firmino. Willian was replaced in injury time by defender Marquinhos.

At least three Chelsea‘s players will play in Russia 2018 World Cup‘s Last 16: earlier today France and Denmark faced each other in Moscow and with a scoreless draw both teams gained access to the competition’s next stage.

For France, both Olivier Giroud and N’Golo Kante played 90 minutes and the same Andreas Christensen did for Denmark. With this result the Blues won Group C and they will face Group D’s runner-up; Denmark will play against the winner of Group D, probably Croatia.

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen admitted he sought John Terry‘s advice after his mistakes vs Barcelona in the Champions League last 16.

I try to keep it inside the club and not bring it home with me,” Christensen told Eurosport in Denmark. “My team-mates have also seen all my other performances, so they know that these mistakes aren’t typical for me. I have had a smaller talk with John Terry, he has also experienced setbacks, and it is always nice to talk to someone watching it from the outside and to learn that they have experienced the same. He told me that it is natural to make mistakes. And he tried to put it in perspective for me saying that if a forward misses a chance he can make it good again by scoring when he gets the next opportunity, but we can’t change a goal scored against us. So when we make mistakes it is more crucial and it is easy to point fingers at. I have realized it, looked at it and now I have moved on. It has been difficult to get out of. You are not doubting yourself, but you might get a bit more cautious in what you do, and that can make things even worse. So it is difficult to get out of it; move on from. I’ve been annoyed at myself, and that is difficult to get rid of – especially when there is a week between the matches, because then you have a whole week to think about it. You just want to move on to the next match so that you can play a match without mistakes. I can’t avoid making mistakes, but in some games the mistakes have been decisive, so now I am just waiting for the next games to come, so I can prove that the mistakes aren’t typical for me. I thought about it after making two mistakes in two matches, that I might be out of the next one. But I try to tell myself that before these matches I have played all the other ones almost with no mistakes at all. I hope that is the reason that I get to start, because he knows that – besides the last couple of matches – he can trust me, I haven’t made any mistakes, but been very solid for a long period. I am focusing on all the good games I have played this season.”
