It was an evening and a venue with all the right ingredients to create a spectacle, Chelsea went into the game hoping to return to ways but things didn’t seem to go as expected when Okazaki broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, after a defensive mix up allowing the Liecester man to head the ball in although Azpillicueta attempted a clearance but the ball had already crossed line.

Going down one nil Chelsea tried to surge forward to get an equalizer but the Leicester striker scored once again from a similar position to double their lead in the 34th minute but towards the twilight of the first half during added time, stand in captain Gary Cahill got one back for Chelsea, to take the scoreline 2-1 into the second half.

In the second half, striker Michy Batshuayi went close with a long range shot, and Victor Moses was also a menace on the right wing and threatened on a couple of occasions but the equalizer came from an unlikely source when Azipllicueta hit an impressive volley from outside the box, before Marcin Wasilewski picked up a second yellow for a foul on Costa and was eventually sent off.

But the winner couldn’t be secured until extra time, with Eden Hazard coming on to assist Fabregas to slot home a fine finish and later the spanaird sealed the win for Chelsea firing high into the roof of the net to make the scores 4-2, securing Chelsea’s passage into the next round.
