Southampton left back Ryan Bertrand has no doubts that during tomorrow’s match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the pressure will be firmly on the Blues.

Chelsea have collected only eight points from their opening seven games and Bertrand knows that the Blues will be desperately seeking for a victory at Stamford Bridge tomorrow but he hopes, the Saints will not help them to complete their task.

Bertrand told the official Southampton page:

“It’s possibly a bigger game for them than it is for us, considering last year was probably a bigger game for us,”

“We were on a good run and we really wanted to perform well and keep it going, whereas now they are in a sticky patch and we’re going there full of confidence.”

“It should be an interesting game. They are the champions and they have fantastic individuals. It’s still early days in respect to them and I’m sure they will pull it together soon and everyone will be talking about them again.”

“The Swansea game was big for us in terms of getting the win we needed. There’s a lot of movement within the league still,”

“One win can do you wonders, one loss can be terrible. It’s all about establishing consistency and hopefully we can get a good result at the weekend.”

The Southampton player is convinced that the Saints are able to win at Stamford Bridge:

“It’s good to be back and playing football. It’s always frustrating when you’re watching the boys training and playing matches and you can’t be out there,”

“No two seasons are ever going to be the same. If you don’t quite get the result against a team you did last season at a certain stage, it puts more emphasis on getting a result the next time you play.”

“It’s all about balancing the fixtures out. We’re in a good position. Every team has a slow start and we’ve managed to patch that up.”

“We’re looking good and we are going into the game on Saturday with plenty of confidence.”

While speaking to the press this morning Chelsea boss José Mourinho revealed that Oscar will probably miss Manchester City clash next Sunday.

“Oscar is a doubt,” he said the manager.

“He had a little injury in training, Courtois is suspended as you know, and apart of that, all are good”.

The Brazilian was one of the best players on the pitch against Swansea, scoring a beautiful goal on a free-kick.

Ex Liverpool player and now Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher admits that Thibaut Courtois missing the clash at Etihad with Manchester City could be a very important absence:

It will be, as him and David De Gea are the two best goalkeepers in the league. With De Gea not playing at the moment, it looks like he may move on. But in Courtois, Chelsea have the outstanding ‘keeper in the league and so he will be a big miss.

Asmir Begovic is a good goalkeeper, but he is not quite of the standard of Petr Cech, who was their stand-in last year. So who knows, that may cost them, but he is very experienced in the Premier League and he was a very good goalkeeper for Stoke, with whom he actually won at City last season.

So he has been there and done it last season and he will be hoping for the same result”.

Speaking to Chelsea FC website before the clash with Manchester City, Kurt Zouma recalls his first game against Pellegrini’s side, last January in Stamford Bridge:

It is a good memory and it was an important stage in my development.

“First of all I played the game and I was really proud of that. We drew 1-1 and we defended well. For my part I think I did well against a good attack, helping the team to a draw.

On the upcoming game, the French defender says:

We know we are playing against a good team on Sunday and it will be difficult, but we have a chance to win. I think it will be a very interesting game.

“It’s a chance early in the season to show why we are champions. We want to defend our title. The season after a very good season is always hard but we have to show we are ready to try and do it.

“Because I’m right-footed I have never played at left-back. It was different for me positionally so I had to learn quickly and adapt to it.

“It’s really not a problem because the boss needed me in that position and I have to give everything for the team. We all have to think about the team first of all so I always do that.

“They were good experiences for me because I played the games and I always want to be on the pitch enjoying myself and helping the team.

“I’m feeling very well. I had some opportunities to play in pre-season and play in some good games. Now the Premier League has started we are just focused on the next game. We are looking forward to it“.

Swansea defender Neil Taylor looks forward to the start of the new season and to the Premier League first clash at Stamford Bridge with the champions, Chelsea.

The player states Swansea got no fear:

Obviously last year we had the game against Manchester United and we got off to a great start,” – he stated

We will look to do the same again this weekend, but we’re under no illusions of how good Chelsea are.

“We know that if we go there and play to the best of our ability then we’ve got a chance of getting a result. We’ll be right up for it, the game is on TV and we’ve got nothing to lose.

“There’s no good or bad time to play Chelsea, so it’s exciting to start the season there.”

About Swansea and what they expect from the season ahead, he stated:

As a squad I think we have stepped up again.

It’s one where people would find it difficult to pick a team – that’s due to the amount of quality we have here now, right through from the goalkeepers to the strikers.

But when you get to this level then its common – not everyone will be happy but competition drives you to do better and its healthy.

We were in quite early after pre-season and we have put a lot in work in during that time. I think we are as ready as we’ve ever been and we’ve prepared as best we can.

For us as a football club, the key is to get to that safety mark first. If you can get there quickly then you can start to set different targets – which is what we did last season.

Swansea coach, Garry Monk has stated, that beginning the season from a clash against Chelsea is a really big challenge for his team.

During the last match between Chelsea and Swansea, the Swans were beaten 5-0. That is why, Monk hopes that Saturday’s clash will be a way different meeting. What is more, he plans to remind his players of how they felt after the defeat last time, hoping to motivate them.

Monk told PlanetSwans:

“It’s the hardest start we could possibly have. Chelsea are a side of such quality that they can walk all over you if you do not compete.

“The players did brilliantly for me all season and there were not many times I had to tell them they had not been good enough.

“But that 5-0 defeat was one of the few occasions we simply did not turn up and got what we deserved.

“It was a real low point of the season and we do not want to experience that again.”

Jose Mourinho has been speaking to Chelsea TV ahead of tonight’s friendly clash against Fiorentina at Stamford Bridge.

The Special One considers Fiorentina, a very strong and stable team, reminding that a few days ago, Viola won against Barcelona. Due to the fact that, Chelsea will play against Swansea on Saturday, Mourinho wants his players to show their best during tonight’s clash.

Mourinho told Chelsea TV:

‘’Fiorentina is a very good team, they have just beat Barcelona a couple of days ago. Very strong, very stable. They don’t start the Italian team this weekend, so they are in a good time to prepare the team. ‘’

‘’We have a match to play on Saturday and that’s the important one, so tonight it’s for every player to play in front of the fans, because it’s the first match of the season at home and objective for all of them is to play a bit. ‘’
