Southampton left back Ryan Bertrand has no doubts that during tomorrow’s match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the pressure will be firmly on the Blues.
Chelsea have collected only eight points from their opening seven games and Bertrand knows that the Blues will be desperately seeking for a victory at Stamford Bridge tomorrow but he hopes, the Saints will not help them to complete their task.
Bertrand told the official Southampton page:
“It’s possibly a bigger game for them than it is for us, considering last year was probably a bigger game for us,”
“We were on a good run and we really wanted to perform well and keep it going, whereas now they are in a sticky patch and we’re going there full of confidence.”
“It should be an interesting game. They are the champions and they have fantastic individuals. It’s still early days in respect to them and I’m sure they will pull it together soon and everyone will be talking about them again.”
“The Swansea game was big for us in terms of getting the win we needed. There’s a lot of movement within the league still,”
“One win can do you wonders, one loss can be terrible. It’s all about establishing consistency and hopefully we can get a good result at the weekend.”
The Southampton player is convinced that the Saints are able to win at Stamford Bridge:
“It’s good to be back and playing football. It’s always frustrating when you’re watching the boys training and playing matches and you can’t be out there,”
“No two seasons are ever going to be the same. If you don’t quite get the result against a team you did last season at a certain stage, it puts more emphasis on getting a result the next time you play.”
“It’s all about balancing the fixtures out. We’re in a good position. Every team has a slow start and we’ve managed to patch that up.”
“We’re looking good and we are going into the game on Saturday with plenty of confidence.”
