In the last few weeks Chelsea‘s manager Maurizio Sarri has been “under siege” with many fans demanding his sacking by the London club.

However, midfielder Mateo Kovacic spoke out and praised the Blues’ manager: “When players are used to playing other football and then to come here and change everything, it’s difficult”. Kovacic told Chelsea TV. “But he has his football in his mind and that’s a great personality. He just wants to play his football and that’s what we’re trying to do and trying to win a trophy. Because in the end the most important thing is to win trophies but the players know it. The players are used to winning trophies and I’m sure we will have a great year this season.”

Mateo Kovacic is enjoying his stay at Chelsea and not only he said that coming to London has been a very good choice, but he also claims he would also like to play with the Blues, longer then his season-long loan.

“I think it was the most important thing I did for now in my career”. the midfielder told Sky Sports when asked about his move during the last summer transfer window. “It was a step I wanted a lot, I wanted to come here. I say thank you to my previous club, to Chelsea as well, who wanted me a lot. I am enjoying it and I like it a lot here. “For now, I am happy here. The city is amazing, the club is one of the best in the world, and my team-mates are great. I need to respect my previous club, Real Madrid. I can imagine myself staying here, but I have a contract I need to respect, and that is what I will do”.

If Mateo Kovacic would like a permanent move from Real Madrid to Chelsea, the Spanish giants, on the other hand, want to sign Eden Hazard:

For me, he is an incredible player,” Kovacic explained. “I did not know he was that good and he can easily be one of the two or three best players in the world. He asked me how it was there (at Real) but we are looking forward to having a great season together, to be fully concentrated on Chelsea. He is focused a lot on doing great things with Chelsea.”

Sarri conference

During his pre-game press conference, Chelsea‘s manager Maurizio Sarri said Wolverhampton will be a tough opponent tomorrow night for the Blues Premier League match.

I expect a very difficult match. They have technical players, they were unlucky in the last two matches, but it is not easy to play there”. the Italian explained.

Sarri also confirmed every Chelsea player is fit for tomorrow’s game: “I spoke with the doctor ten minutes ago, but we have no injuries at the moment”. Sarri said. “We have a little problem with Kovacic and Alonso in he last match, but they are ready to play. We have one more training session”.

The Blues manager also admitted Ruben Loftus-Cheek is becoming a very important player for Chelsea: “He has played in the Europa League and League Cup, some in the Premier League but not starting”. Sarri explained. “At the moment he is very important for us. He had some problems to understand what I wanted, but he is improving and in the last two matches I have been very happy with him. I want him to stay with me, with us”.

Finally, Maurizio Sarri commented on Azpilicueta‘s new contract and reflected also on Fabregas and David Luiz‘s situations: “He is important for the club, staff and team-mates. I am very happy with the contract” the Italian said about Azpilicueta, while on David Luiz and Fabregas he went on: “I spoke with the club about this one month ago. I know very well it is not easy, but I think we can do a new deal for both. They are very important players for us. It is very difficult to find a centre-back for this level and it is difficult to find a centre-midfielder technical like Fabregas, so I think they have to stay with us. The deal is very difficult for this reason (over 30), the club want a short contract and the players want a long contract, it is difficult for this reason but we can find a solution”.

In his pre-game press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League game vs Tottenham, the Blues’ manager Maurizio Sarri admitted he and his players spoke about the problems they had in the last games of this season.

I think it is a mental problem. In the last three matches we had a problem with the approach of the match. But not only. We have to be careful and be focused on this problem”. Sarri explained. “For sure it is not a physical problem, we have some difficulties. It is not a tactical problem. In the last 15 minutes of three matches the opposition was more determined than us, we have to approach the match in a different way”.

The Italian manager, then confirmed Mateo Kovacic is fit and he can play tomorrow: “No big problems. As usual after international break there are some issues, a little tired, but fortunately no big problems. Kovacic is doing better” Sarri revealed. “He had an ankle problem, he has been doing all the training. I think he will be able to play”.

A win at Wembley in the London derby will boost Chelsea ambitions to win the Premier League title, but Maurizio Sarri believes this will be a very difficult task because at the moment Manchester City are still better than Chelsea: “They are stronger than us and we have to work hard to cover the gap, but it is still there”. Sarri admitted. “We have to do it [cover the gap], we can recover but in the first season I don’t think we can recover 30 points”.

Real Madrid loanee Mateo Kovacic is enjoying is time with Chelsea and, speaking to Spanish newspaper Marca while on international duty with Croatia he explains the reasons of his move to the London club during the last summer transfer window.

I wanted to be happy and at Chelsea I am,” Kovacic said. “I just wanted to be happy and play matches, feel a responsibility within the team and I’ve found that at Chelsea.  This is not the time to talk about anything other than playing and enjoying. I don’t want to think about what will happen and do want to be happy doing what I like, which is to play football every week”.

Sarri conference

Speaking during his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League game vs Manchester United, Chelsea‘s boss Maurizio Sarri has given some updates on the Blues’ injured players.

There are some problems. So now we have the most serious, I think, is Ampadu. Then we have a little problem with Hudson-Odoi, and a little problem with Barkley”Sarri admitted. “But with Odoi and Barkley it’s only a question of one or two days. The injury for Ampadu I think is serious. I don’t know how much, but serious. We hope to recover him in a couple of weeks. Rudiger has done better in the last two days, like Kovacic. I think they will be able to play.”

Chelsea will face Manchester United and Maurizio Sarri showed all his respect for the opponents and their manager José Mourinho.  “They are a very strong team. Maybe, player by player, they are the best team in the Premier League.” the Italian claimed. “At the moment I think City are better as a team, but player by player, they are really very, very strong. So I don’t know if they will play us or try and play their football”.

So Chelsea will need a perfect performance if they want to beat the Red Devils: “I’m really, really happy with the results. But I think we need to improve. And I think also we can improve. We can improve because we have had no time to work. I had eight players only at the beginning of August”. Sarri explained. “Then we have started to play every three days. So it’s very difficult to work and very difficult to improve the team and the players. I think that, in the future, we can improve and we need to improve. To improve more on the performance on the defensive phase because, at the moment, we are giving too many opportunities to the opponents. So we need to improve, I think.”

Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic spoke out ahed of London derby against West Ham United (kick-off time: 1.30PM) and was full of praise when asked to provide a commment on teammate Eden Hazard, who’s scored 5 goals from 5 Premier League games so far.

The Croatian midfielder told Chelsea’s official website: ‘For me he has everything, but the thing that has impressed me the most is that they tackle him so much and he is always on his feet,

England is a really tough league, the toughest in the world for me, and he just plays with the defenders. He’s an incredible player but also a nice team-mate, a nice guy, and I have really enjoyed the time playing with him.

When I came here I didn’t realise he was so good. He is one of the best players I have played with. The stuff he is doing is amazing; he is helping the team a lot and I hope he will continue like that, or do even better because I think he can do better for sure”.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Europa League against PAOK, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri explained why Eden Hazard, Mateo Kovacic and David Luiz stayed in London instead of travelling with the rest of the squad:

“First of all David Luiz is in Cobham because he is playing very often now after six months without playing and so I thought it was better for him to have training and rest.

“The second is Mateo Kovacic only for the little injury in the last match against Cardiff. And the last one is Eden Hazard because he told me that after the national team and after the match against Cardiff he was a little bit tired so I thought it was better to stay in Cobham, to have training and to rest.”

The Italian coach has also revealed that he has not briefed his players on the toxic atmosphere they are likely to receive inside the stadium tomorrow night.

“My players are professionals so they must be able to play in every situation. As I said before I am worried about the opponent because they are a very good team not the atmosphere in the stadium.
