Chelsea have placed an opening bid in the region of £27m to sign midfielder Leandro Paredes from Russian Premier League giants Zenit St Petersburg, according to reports in the London Evening Standard.

It is understood Blues’ boss Maruizio Sarri is confident the board will find a replacement after Cesc Fabregas completed his permanent move to AS Monaco earlier last week.

Chelsea are keeping tabs also on Cagliari starlet Nicolò Barella, who reportedly prefers a move to a Serie A club when the current season comes to an end, with Napoli and Inter Milan heavily linked with a move for the 21-year-old.

Cesc Fabregas has officially left Chelsea to join AS Monaco on a permanent move last night, just a few hours before Blues’ clash against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.

Following the win against Rafa Benitez’s men, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has confirmed he remains confident the board will find a midfielder as a replacement for the Spaniard, despite he ‘cannot do anything more’.

It has been reported the Italian manager has made Cagliari ace Nicolò Barella his main target to revamp the squad in January.

Speaking at a press conference, Sarri said: “As you have seen today, Jorginho was in trouble and on the bench there wasn’t a player for that position, so I need a player for that position, I need another option for Jorginho.

‘The club knows very well my opinion. I need a player there so it depends on the club’s decision, I can’t do anything more”.

Cesc Fabregas has joined Ligue 1 side AS Monaco on a permanent move, Chelsea confirmed earlier tonight.

An official statement read: “Cesc Fabregas has today completed a permanent transfer to Monaco.

The midfielder’s switch to the Ligue 1 club brings the curtain down on his four-and-a-half year Chelsea career, a period in which he won four major trophies, including two Premier League titles.

The Spaniard made 198 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 22 goals.

We thank Cesc for his wonderful service and wish him the very best of luck for the next chapter in what has been a fantastic career”.

In the last few weeks, Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has been linked with a move in the January transfer window as Ac Milan have showed interest in signing the Spaniard.

Now, Fabregas himself confirms he can soon leave Stamford Bridge or, at least reach a deal with another club:

We have a good squad with a lot of valuable players. I’m at Stamford Bridge and I’m happy, but it’s clear that every player wants to play more”. Fabregas told Football Italia. “I haven’t talked to anyone, but it’s obvious that if I haven’t signed a renewal then I can do a deal with someone from January and will probably attract a lot of clubs. Will I stay until the end of the season? For now I can say yes.”

Ross Barkley had a crucial role in Chelsea‘s draw vs Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, scoring the 2-2’s goal in injury time.

Speaking to the club’s official webisite, the midfielder now admits he is improving as a player during his experience in London:

I believe I’m a better player now. ‘I’ve matured and I understand the game more, which is natural growing up, I’m 24 now,” Barkley said. “I’m at a big club with a lot of expectation and fantastic players around me, and my performances are showing that.”

Chelsea are currently fighting for the top spot in the Premier League table, but Blues’ midfielder Cesc Fabregas believes Maurizio Sarri‘s team could still improve, especially in their “killer instinct” when it comes to score goals.

I believe a lot in this team. As long as we are winning, the confidence of the team will be higher and higher. It’s impossible to be perfect but be as close to perfection as possible” Fabregas said. “Sometimes one nil, two nil, it’s not enough. If we want to be a top team, sometimes we need to go for the kill.”

The Spanish midfielder also said once more what it is his favourite way of playing: “Sometimes you need to take risks. You have to fight for your team-mates and for the club”. Fabregas went on. “My type of football has always been to play with the ball, to have the ball, to create chances, have a forward mentality. Having movement with or without the ball”.

Chelsea's Ruben Loftus-Cheek reacts

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has confirmed midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek will continue working at Cobham after being left out of Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad.

The Italian boss, speaking after Chelsea’s narrow win in their second Europa League clash against FC Vidi, told journalists: “It’s better to stay in Cobham. At the moment for him, it’s very important to have a lot of training. In the last three, four weeks, he hasn’t been training a lot”.

“Now it’s better for him to stay to work. I have seen he is a great player from the technical point of view, from the physical point of view. He has to improve from a tactical point of view”.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was given game time again after coming off the bench in the second half against both Bournemouth and Huddersfield Town.

Speaking to Tribal FootballChelsea star Eden Hazard has praised his team-mate N’golo Kante.

“We are lucky to have Kanté here on our team. He is intelligent off the field and on the field. We could see this in the first match”. Hazard said.

The French midfielder scored Chelsea’s first goal of the 2018-2019 Premier League campaign and Eden Hazard is now willing to teach him how to score more goals this season.  “He had not played in that position yet but after twenty minutes, he scored”. the Belgian star went on. “If he wants, I’m always there to show him even if I’m not a great finisher either but I think I’m a little better than him anyway.”
