Liverpool and Chelsea target Alex Texeira claims it would be “an honour” to play for Reds.

The Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder revealed to Anfield HQ:

The team received one official offer from Liverpool. It was rejected. I don’t know why.

“It was a great offer. It is frustrating. But the president and manager decided against it. So now I’m just waiting, trying to be patient.

“Yes, it is a huge club. So many great players have passed through there. It would be an honour to defend the Liverpool shirt.”

Teixeira believes his agent will do “everything possible” to help him get a move to Merseyside.

As we reported last week Liverpool chief executive, Ian Ayre, has flown to Florida, where Shakhtar are currently training in pre-season, to try and reach an agreement with the Ukrainian club.

It is believed that Reds’ offer to Shakhtar was around £25m.

Today Chelsea have confirmed Brazilian midfielder Ramires has left to join Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning.

The transfer is reported to be in the region of £25 million, which will be seen as a coup for the man who’s made 15 starts this season, but has mainly been on the fringes of the squad.

Having been at Chelsea for 5 and a half years Ramires scored vital goals, most notably in the 2012 Champions League semi-final against Barcelona and in the 2012 FA Cup final during a 2-1 win over Liverpool.

After a much improved Chelsea performance on Sunday from former Gunner Cesc Fabregas we look at why the Spaniard was back to his best.

After an extremely slow start to the season from the Blues in which Fabregas was singled out as one of the main culprits by many sections of the Chelsea support, he is now stringing some strong performances together. The Chelsea number 4 is no longer being operated in a deep lying playmaker role alongside the likes of Matic and the rejuvenated Mikel.

These two holding players in behind Fabregas, allowing him to roam the field, are vital to his improved form. Sometimes receiving the ball from the centre backs and other times pushing on beyond Diego Costa. This means he often gets the most touches on the pitch and thus allows him to dictate the Chelsea tempo, which he did superbly in the first half at the Emirates and at Selhurst Park in the 3-0 win against Crystal Palace a few weeks ago.

The improved movement of Diego Costa upfront, who was always looking in behind the Gunners defense at the Emirates on Sunday, has also helped Fabregas under Hiddink. When he has runners around him and doesn’t particularly have to worry about his defensive duties quite as much, he can be deadly, as shown by his array of passing and moving in the final third on Sunday which should have resulted in a penalty.

Shown so many times last season and now this season, when he is on form Chelsea are on form. So keeping Fabregas in a free roaming position is vital to the Blues aspirations of reaching the top four.

Ramires

Chelsea midfielder Ramires can move to China in this January transfer window.

Jiangsu Suning have been looking for a big name to include in their squad for the whole month: they already negotiate with AC Milan and Inter for Luiz Adriano and Fredy Guarin, but at the last minute the deals were off.

The Chinese club can offer £20m to Chelsea to sign the Brazilian midfielder, who would receive also an important wage, around £6m per year.

Ramires only signed a new four-year contract at Stamford Bridge in October but, having slipped down the pecking order since Hiddink arrived, may now be permitted to depart with Chelsea even likely to make a slight profit on his sale.

The Brazil international as not started a Premier League match for the London club under new manager Guus Hiddink and was not even included among the substitutes for the recent draw with Everton and Sunday’s win at Arsenal.

According to Spanish sources Chelsea are ready to arrange a swap deal to sign Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan.

The German midfielder is also followed by his former manager Jurgen Klopp that would like to bring him to Liverpool.

But the Blues would close the deal offering Ramires and a money compensation to Borussia Dortmund in a swap move that can satisfy everyone.

It seemed that was all done for Alex Texeira‘s transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk to Chelsea but the Ukrainian club’s boss, Mircea Lucescu, quenched the enthusiasm of Blues’ fans claiming that the Brazilian midfielder is going anywhere, at least now.

“If there is an offer that will satisfy both player and the club I will fully support his move,” said Lucescu.

“At the moment, Alex is Shakhtar’s player. We’ll see in the summer, now there’s no point talking about it. This year, he needs to play so that he grows even more, despite the fact that Alex’s level is very high even today.”

Shakhtar will play Schalke 04 in Europa League Round of 32 in February and Lucescu wants all his top players in a good form:

“I want to see my players perform in the best, top teams in Europe. This means that both my assistants and I have not been working in vain for so many years,” added the Shakhtar manager.

“We signed players, who were 17-19, and brought them to the level of the top clubs. I wonder how many coaches in Europe are working based on such a scheme?”.

Chelsea target Alex Texeira is being persuaded by two Blues stars for his move to Stamford Bridge.

The Shaktar Donetsk midfielder is close friend with both Willian and Oscar, and the two Brazilian midfielders are working to convince him to move to London according to the Telegraph.

Texeira already expressed the desire to become a Blues player a couple of months ago, when he claimed:

I’m glad to have received the proposal of Chelsea as they are a big club in Europe, but my manager will sort that.

“It’s my dream, I have spoken to many people who have the desire to play in the Premier League, because I think it’s the best World Championship, most competitive.

“For January, I believe it is very difficult because it is in the middle of the championship. Shakhtar has said they will not release me in January, only at the end of the season. But I’m with a clear head.”

Willian and Oscar are trying, anyway, to persuade him to transfer to London during this transfer window, as Chelsea need fresh energy and more talent to try to climb up the table and reach the four spot to qualify for Champions League.

He stated also that he would have loved to work with José Mourinho:

I hope he does not leave Chelsea now. I want to work with him and have great success at his side.”

His dream to work with the Portuguese coach has now gone, since Mourinho was sacked before Christmas.

But probably this will not be enough to stop him to wear a Chelsea shirt soon.

Pogba stayed at Juventus last summer but hinted an exit soon

According to reports coming from Spain Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is planning to make a £64m  bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

The 22-year-old was released by Manchester United in 2012 after Sir Alex Ferguson declared him surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

He made a terrific improvement in these three years in Italy, becoming one of the best and most expansive midfielders in the world, even if in this season failed to make an impact so far.

It was supposed to have already a done deal with FC Barcelona for the next season but his agent, Mino Raiola, recently stated:

“There haven’t been many calls to my phone for Pogba because so few can afford him, like a limited edition Ferrari. Are Barcelona in pole position? No, the only favourites are Juve.”

Chelsea already made an attempt last summer for the French star, offering £40m plus Oscar, but the deal couldn’t be closed because the Brazilian player refused the destination.

Chelsea Ladies FC have announced that Karen Carney is joining the club from Birmingham City Ladies. The England international agreed a two-year deal with the Blues. She will officially join Emma Hayes’s team on New Year’s Day.

The 28-year-old midfielder does not hide his satisfaction with her transfer:

”I am thrilled to have signed for Chelsea Ladies.  The team won the Double last season to establish themselves as the top club in the country and I am excited about the prospect of helping to build on that.”

”It is the right point in my career to begin a new challenge and having spoken to Emma we share the same ambitions and I firmly believe this is the place to achieve those goals.”

Also Chelsea Ladies manager has praised her new signing :

”I am absolutely delighted Karen has agreed to join the club.  She was a major target and a genuine world-class addition to the squad.”

”I know her well having worked with her previously and she has a fantastic character both on and off the pitch.  She is a student of the game and brings additional leadership to our squad.”

”I see Karen complimenting the talent we already possess in the final third.  All our attacking players will benefit hugely from her vision and passing.”

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas admits that not only the manager but also all the players must take responsibility for disappointing results in the Premier League this season.

The Spanish player said that there is no doubt that the wave of criticism which flowed over the team is justified, however, he is confident that Chelsea are able to rise from his knees and start winning.

Speaking live at Q&A session Fabregas said:

“We will all have to take responsibility. If you are a big player and paid like a big player, you must play like a big player and behave like a big player,”

“I am not saying you can’t have a bad season and bad games. We all have big players and small players, but the attitude must be spot on. We must always be at the top of our games, even when it’s not and not the behaviour that we are seeing right now from every Chelsea player.”

“Confidence is important until a certain point. At the end of the day, as a player you have pride. We cannot win the Premier League right now, but we must do better,”

“Right now is not the time to think of where we might finish, we’ve been saying it almost all season.”

“I don’t think about anything apart from wanting to beat Sunderland, play my best and that’s it. Right now, no one is easy as it currently shows. We’ve put ourselves in this position and we must now prove that we can start winning.”
