Former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka is set to return to the Indian League.
He joined Mumbai City last year and scored two goals in seven appearances. But, he was released by the club in January.
He had to wait to play again as he served the remainder of his FA ban for the quenelle gesture he made while playing for West Brom in 2014.
Indranil Blah, the CEO of Mumbai City FC said : “We are evaluating several options, including Anelka. We will make an announcement within the next two weeks.”
The 36-year old Frenchman made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Blues in a four year spell at the club. He moved from Bolton in January 2008 for a fee of around £17 million.
Anelka has played for a range of clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Bolton Wanderers, West Brom, Real Madrid, Juventus, Fenerbache, and SH Shenhua.
