Still goalless at St.James’ Park between Chelsea and Newcastle United.

The Blues struggled to find an opener but went close to scoring with Eden Hazard, who was unstoppable in a tight first half. The Belgian star has been put down several times from the opponents but recovered quickly and came back on the pitch.

Newcastle’s defensive discipline is stopping Chelsea so far, despite Maurizio Sarri‘s men managed to get a 79% of ball possession at half-time. Mateo Kovacic was booked earlier in the first period.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has been speaking ahead of upcoming Premier League clash against Newcastle United at St.James’ Park.

The Italian manager was asked twice about Eden Hazard, who’s been consistently linked with a move to Real Madrid.

About the Belgian star, Sarri told journalists he’s confident the starlet won’t leave Stamford Bridge before the end of La Liga transfer market window: “I think so. Because I’m the coach of a very good team, a great club, and we cannot sell such an important player without the possibility of buying another player at the same level, so I hope Eden will stay for this season”.

“I think that Eden is ready to play for 50 or 60 minutes, I don’t know about 90 minutes, but he can start. I am happy with him if he wants to play. I think it’s the right way to think for him but I have to think for everybody”.

Hazard was crucial in providing assists for Pedro and Marcos Alonso respectively against Huddersfield Town and Arsenal so far.

Chelsea midfielder Kenedy, on loan at Newcastle United, has avoided retrospective action for his off-the-ball challenge on Cardiff City’s Victor Camarasa last Saturday.

The Brazilian winger appeared to kick out at the Spaniard but referee Craig Pawson didn’t show any card.

However, the referee awarded Cardiff a free kick, and as such the incident will not be referred to a disciplinary panel as it was dealt with at the time.

Kenedy had been recently facing a three-match ban for violent conduct, but the Brazilian will not be handed any further punishment.

The 22-year-old endured a poor individual display at the Cardiff City Stadium, failing to complete a single pass in the first half and then missing a penalty in the final minute of stoppage time.

Newcastle ended the game with 10 men, though, since Isaac Hayden was sent off for a challenge from behind on Josh Murphy in the middle of the second half.

Chelsea winger Kenedy heads back to St.James’ Park today after agreeing a second season-long loan at Newcastle United.

Newcastle reportedly have an option to make the deal permanent at the end of 2018/19 campaign with the Magpies. The Brazilian 22-year-old told the club’s official website: “I’m so happy to come back to my second home”.

An official statement from Chelsea read: “Kenedy has today returned to Newcastle United on a season-long loan. The Brazilian enjoyed a successful spell at St James’ Park in the second half of the 2017/18 campaign, playing 13 times and scoring twice as the Magpies finished 10th in the Premier League”.

Chelsea winger Kenedy will undergo a medical at Newcastle tomorrow ahead of a season-long loan deal, London Evening Standard journalist Simon Johnson revealed tonight.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell under Rafa Benitez‘s management last season and would be keen on a move to St.James’ Park for a second consecutive campaign.

Kenedy started the pre-season with Chelsea loanees in Cobham and recently told The Daily Mail he was “more than happy to discuss a permanent move at Newcastle” following a positive 10th place in the Premier League table.

Chelsea will rival Tottenham Hotspur in the race to acquire Jamaal Lascelles from Newcastle United, London Evening Standard reported earlier this morning.

The 24-year-old, who made an impact in Premier League with the Magpies this season, is believes to be allowed to leave for a bid in the region of £40m.

Should David Luiz leave the club in summer, Chelsea board would strengthen the squad with a defensive replacement.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly leading the race as they are expected to sell Toby Alderweireld on a £55m move with Manchester United still interested in the Belgian defender.

Also Everton, who recently appointed Marco Silva as their new manager, are said to be keeping tabs on Lascelles.

Plenty of chants singing Rafa Benitez’s name at St.James’ Park after the Magpies earned an important win to secure a respectful 10th place in the Premier League standings.

Chelsea suffered their 10th defeat in a disappointing season as 70 points are not enough to book a place in the next Champions League group stage. Dwight Gale broke the deadlock before Ayoze Perez’s brace sealed a 3-0 at St.James’ Park, where the Blues conceded too many chances to score.

Moreover, Liverpool‘s 4-0 home win against Brighton faded Chelsea hopes to remain in the race for a top four finish. Antonio Conte‘s men were more dangerous in the second half (Ross Barkley went close to scoring with two efforts), but Jonjo Shelvey’s low shot was deflected from Ayoze Perez past Thibaut Courtois. A couple of minutes later is Perez again: the Spaniard was clever to exploit a perfect free-kick, well assisted by Lejeune from a close range while Chelsea’s defense left him unmarked.

This result means Chelsea will be playing the Europa League next season, alongside with Arsenal and Burnley. Sparkling display from Newcastle United made the difference at St.James Park as the Blues suffered their 10th defeat of Premier League season

Chelsea loanee Kenedy, who’s enjoying a fruitful spell at Newcastle United, has confirmed he would be open to discuss a permanent move with Magpies at the end of current Premier League season.

The Brazilian winger told The Daily Mail“I am enjoying my time at Newcastle, but obviously I have a contract at Chelsea. If something occurs then I will be more than happy, it is a good place for me. I like it”.

“Rafa helps me a lot, every day. But the thing I am most thankful for is that he had belief in me and gave me this chance. I never imagined it would have gone so well. They have amazing fans, they are crazy for the team — fanatical, beautiful, I feel privileged to be around them.

“My first goal was an amazing sensation. When I saw the celebration in the stand, that gives you the energy to do whatever it takes.”
