Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, speaking ahead of next game against Crystal Palace, admitted life “was difficult” alone in London last season, anyway he’s more settled at Chelsea now as his family are based in England.

“Last season was difficult because when you are alone it was all about my job – Conte said – This season there is my job but I go to my house, with my daughter and wife, and we can take the car and try to visit London, Kingston or discover new restaurants. Recently we went with Carlo [Cudicini] to a Brazilian restaurant in Leatherhead”.

The Italian manager added: “Last season was very difficult for my wife because she divided her time between Italy, where she was with my daughter, and me in London. Now for sure it’s great for me and my family. For my daughter it’s a fantastic experience and for my wife, living in a new country and learning a new language is great”.

With Alvaro Morata sidelined after suffering a muscular injury against Man City in the last Premier League game, Michy Batshuayi could be given an opportunity from Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.

“If you compare Michy with last season he has improved a lot, – said Conte speaking in Cobham ahead of next Premier League clash against Crystal Palace He understands this league because it’s not simple. He understands our style of football but don’t forget he’s another young player and he’s working hard to improve”.

“This season he’s finding many opportunities to play, in the Champions League, Premier League and Carabao Cup, coming on and starting games. Last season he had few opportunities but this season he’s playing a lot”.

Conte preferred to place Eden Hazard as a central striker when Morata limped off the pitch at Stamford Bridge two weeks ago.

“The most important thing is to show he’s improving. – he added – Don’t forget, as a striker I can also utilise Eden Hazard. Last season we played two games with Hazard as the number nine, with Willian and Pedro, and if I see a situation we are ready to do that again, but Michy is showing he deserves to play”.

The Blues are set to face Crystal Palace today (3pm BST).

Former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri believes Antonio Conte wants more signings at Stamford Bridge and is not considering a return to Italy next summer, despite rumors linking him with AC Milan.

Ranieri, who’s currently in charge at French side Nantes, told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “The Premier League remains the best and I have not been convinced of Conte’s desire to return home. Maybe he was expecting a different transfer window but for a few years, Abramovich has not paid crazy prices”.

“Manchester City and Manchester United on the other hand have made big buys so I can imagine that for Antonio to fight on more fronts with the same players is more tiring.”
