Neymar chose to join to Paris Saint Germain in the most sensational transfer market move in football history: Barcelona are about to cash a world record € 222m (£ 199m) fee for the Brazilian star, even tough the way this will happen is a little bizarre.

In fact, it’s rumoured that the company linked to PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Qatar Sports Investments, are going to pay Neymar € 300m ( £ 260m) to be the Qatar 2022 World Cup testimonial, so the player himself can pay his release-clause and join the French side as free-agent, so that the huge expense won’t be recorded and they can avoid FFP.

With such a big amount to invest on the market and the necessity to re-invest them and find a replacement for Neymar, Barcelona are ready to splash this cash on some of the best players in Europe.

The Blaugrana targeted three major footballers: Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, Juventus’ Paulo Dybala and Chelsea star Eden Hazard.

The Catalan club wants to sign at least two of this stars to substitute Neymar and to show their power on the market after losing one of the best players in the world.

The Blues forward is still recovering from a broken ankle injury and won’t be back on the pitch until September, at least, but Barcelona are ready to place a £ 100m ( € 120m) to secure his services.

It would hard for Chelsea to reject such an offer and the Blues will have also to find a player to replace the Belgian star, but with £ 100m to re-invest it will be easier.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was offered Barcelona star Neymar by Blues’ owner Roman Abramovich, according to Italian publication Tuttosport.

The former Juventus boss reportedly rejected the offer as he could quit west London for a return to his homeland at the end of the season.

It is understood new owners of Inter Milan are lining up a £13milion-per-season bid to persuade Conte.

Anyway, the current Chelsea boss could sign a new deal despite exit rumors, according to several reports in England.

Barcelona star Neymar admits he would love to play in the Premier League.

The Brazilian striker revealed huge respect for some of the English top clubs and hinted he would like to join one of them:

“It’s a championship that surprises me,” he said at a PokerStars event.

“I like the playing style and the teams.”

Recente rumours claimed that Manchester United and José Mourinho were really keen on the Brazilian international and Neymar included the Red Devils among his favourite Premier League sides, as well as Chelsea and a couple more:

“I admire Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool: these are the teams that are always fighting for the title.

“And then you have top-level coaches like Mourinho and  Guardiola. These are coaches any player would like to play for.

“Who knows? I’d like to play there.”

Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has been linked to Chelsea and Manchester United more than once, but the French striker reveals he is not really interested in a Premier League move, as he prefers Spanish football:

In Spain, Barcelona have Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, and a move to Real Madrid would be impossible because I play for Atletico.

“Germany is not a league that appeals to me. France, not right now. As for England, I do watch the Premier League but I have doubts about the lifestyle. Rain, bad weather; I need to be happy off the pitch.

“I like the style of play in England and that the referees let the game flow and the grounds are always full, but the Spanish league is better suited to my style of play.”

Chelsea loanee Andreas Christensen had to face the mighty FC Barcelona. Though the Catalans had to play without Leo Messi, it was a tough challenge to face Luis Suarez and Neymar for Gladbach’s defense.
André Schubert side showed a quick movement between several tactical directions during the game, and the Danish defender played either with Nico Elvedi as two-men strong CB-line or as last men at the centre. His job was to close the room to prevent passes into the cut. He did that successfully.
With his deep role, he regular faced Luis Suarez at the centre, who beat him only once when Christensen slipped at the box while the Barcelona star striker overran him – but he missed the target. The Chelsea loanee seemed very concentrated and therefore he managed to get the ball away before one of Barcelona’s strikers even reached it. In addition, he opened the game sometimes with passes to his defense neighbours Elvedi or Korb.
Luis Enrique’s team tried to come behind the defense with crosses, but also there Christensen showed his class. At both goals he was not to blame, Elvedi lost the one-to-one against Arda Turan and then the goalkeeper made a mistake which helped Barcelona to win the game with 2:1. The Chelsea Academy product continues to underline why Chelsea & head coach Conte should be keen to get him back next summer.
