Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has been linked to Chelsea and Manchester United more than once, but the French striker reveals he is not really interested in a Premier League move, as he prefers Spanish football:

In Spain, Barcelona have Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, and a move to Real Madrid would be impossible because I play for Atletico.

“Germany is not a league that appeals to me. France, not right now. As for England, I do watch the Premier League but I have doubts about the lifestyle. Rain, bad weather; I need to be happy off the pitch.

“I like the style of play in England and that the referees let the game flow and the grounds are always full, but the Spanish league is better suited to my style of play.”

Chelsea loanee Andreas Christensen had to face the mighty FC Barcelona. Though the Catalans had to play without Leo Messi, it was a tough challenge to face Luis Suarez and Neymar for Gladbach’s defense.
André Schubert side showed a quick movement between several tactical directions during the game, and the Danish defender played either with Nico Elvedi as two-men strong CB-line or as last men at the centre. His job was to close the room to prevent passes into the cut. He did that successfully.
With his deep role, he regular faced Luis Suarez at the centre, who beat him only once when Christensen slipped at the box while the Barcelona star striker overran him – but he missed the target. The Chelsea loanee seemed very concentrated and therefore he managed to get the ball away before one of Barcelona’s strikers even reached it. In addition, he opened the game sometimes with passes to his defense neighbours Elvedi or Korb.
Luis Enrique’s team tried to come behind the defense with crosses, but also there Christensen showed his class. At both goals he was not to blame, Elvedi lost the one-to-one against Arda Turan and then the goalkeeper made a mistake which helped Barcelona to win the game with 2:1. The Chelsea Academy product continues to underline why Chelsea & head coach Conte should be keen to get him back next summer.

Chelsea new signing Pedro has revealed, that he has decided to join the Blues because he was not able to compete with Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez for a place in the starting team at Barcelona.

During his farewell press conference in Barcelona, Pedro said :

“It was not about money. It was the need to play consistently,”

“I’m sad in a way, to be leaving. There was an option to stay, that’s what the club wanted. I discussed it with everyone but the Chelsea offer attracted me.

“The easiest thing would have been to stay, it’s a difficult decision. I am taking a risk but I am decided.

“Barcelona is the best club in the world, there’s no other place like this. But I’ve joined a club I like and where I will play more. Last season was one of my worst, because there was a lot of competition and I didn’t have enough playing time.”

“I’m ambitious and I knew it would be difficult to have a lot playing time here. I’m happy to have this new challenge.”

“I was very flattered by the interest from some of England’s biggest clubs like Manchester United, City and Chelsea, but Chelsea’s offer convinced me most. I talked with [Blues coach] Jose Mourinho, it’s true he called me. I liked what he said. He convinced me.”

“The atmosphere in the Premier League is fantastic, the stadiums are always full and it’s an attractive league for spectators.”

Jose Mourinho does not hide his joy at having sign Pedro from Barcelona. During his pre-match press conference, the Special One has praised the Spanish forward for his great attitude and commitment to the game.

The Portuguese coach has said, that he is delighted to have been able to secure the services of a player who has won everything possible with his former team.

Mourinho said :

‘‘He wants to play every game. For many years he won everything playing with Messi, Iniesta, all these stars, but he wants more and I’m really happy with that attitude. Pedro is a player we like a lot and we are happy to have him.”

‘‘When I saw him playing the European Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup like they were the last games of his career, I always thought with that commitment and attitude he would stay at Barcelona, for sure. So when we know he’s that kind of professional, that gives everything but clearly wants to leave, it was an opportunity and as a club we decided to try to get him. Obviously we are happy the player chose us.”

‘‘Everything started with the fact that finally we understood the player was ready to leave the club of his dreams, the club of his heart, the club where he played since he was a kid and won absolutely everything. When I’m told a player wants to leave Barcelona or Real Madrid, these giant clubs, there is always a question mark because I always ask myself why they want to leave.”

‘‘Normally there are lots of rumours and normally they are never true, but it was true. He has amazing respect and from the way he speaks (you can tell) he loves Iniesta, Messi, Neymar and these guys he’s played with for all these years, but this is a moment for him to enjoy a different life, a different step, a different challenge. It’s a chance for him to leave his comfort zone and come to a new club, new country, new culture, so I’m really happy with his approach.’’

Konoplyanka has also made nearly 50 appearances for Ukraine

Sevilla striker Yevhen Konoplyanka has been likened to Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard and Barcelona striker Neymar by a former teammate.

The 25-year old midfielder moved to La Liga from Ukranian side Dnipro, after making over 200 appearances and scoring 45 goals. The Ukraine international joined the Europa League holders this summer, having turned down a number of other offers from across Europe.

Brazilian striker Matheus – who played alongside Konoplyanka at Dnipro – has spoken highly of the forward and expects him to shine in Spain, so much so that he has compared him to Hazard,

Matheus said: “Kono has what it takes to be like Hazard and Neymar,” he said. “He has the ability to do well in Spain or in any other European league.

“He’s like Hazard and Neymar – the type of player who can win games in an instant with a spectacular bit of football.”

Hazard played a major part in winning Chelsea’s first Premier League title since 2010 and won the PFA and Writer’s Player of the Year awards at the end of last season.

Should Kenedy join Chelsea he will be the latest of a strong Brazilian contingent at Stamford Bridge, with compatriots Oscar, Ramires and Willian established members of the first team. ChelseaNews24 reported in April that Chelsea were pursuing Kenedy with £8 million being touted as the price.
