Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has been recently linked with a move to Olympique Marseille, who also failed to land Mario Balotelli from OGC Nice in the summer transfer market window.

The Frenchman came off the bench in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Bournemouth last time out as he provided an assist for teammate Pedro Rodriguez in the second half.

Also Maurizio Sarri has praised the former Arsenal star despite he has not been given many chances with the Blues so far. And Giroud told French outlet Telefoot: “I still have one year of contract, plus possibly another year. The board of the club have been positive in terms of giving me it.

“I do not know yet, we’ll see how things are in April or May, but I won’t exclude any possibility. We’ll see.”

Olivier Giroud has become Olympique Marseille’s first choice after the Ligue 1 side are growing impatient over the potential signing of OGC Nice striker Mario Balotelli.

The 31-year-old joined Chelsea just six months ago and scored two crucial goals in the Blues’ FA Cup campaign.

However Maurizio Sarri would let him leave the club as Gonzalo Higuaìn remains a transfer market target on the Italian manager’s wishlist.

The future of Alvaro Morata remains still unclear, Michy Batshuayi will battle for a place while Olivier Giroud could be on the move after less than a season at Stamford Bridge. Also Napoli have reportedly showed interest in the 2018 World Cup champion.

The former Arsenal forward has already opened talks with Olympique Marseille, according to the Daily Mirror.

Atletico Madrid were dominant in the UEFA Europa League 2017/18 final against Olympique Marseille in Lyon tonight. A defensive mistake after 21′ was exploited by Antoine Griezmann, who doubled earlier in the second half following a positive start from the Ligue One giants.

Captain Gabi sealed a final 0-3 for Diego Pablo Simeone’s men, who reached both Inter Milan and Juventus  with 3 titles in their history. Sevilla remain top of the table with 5 titles.

Former West Ham United striker Dimitri Payet, who was a doubt ahead of the game, limped off the pitch in tears just after Griezmann’s opener as he suffered a knee injury. On the other hand, Fernando Torres came off the bench with 2′ left to go to celebrate his final trophy of career.

REMINDER – Chelsea won the Europa League in 2013 as they beat Benfica in Amsterdam under Rafa Benitez’s management. A late goal from Branislav Ivanovic won the Europa League for the Blues, who will be playing in the same competition next season.

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante revealed that his career could change when, in summer, 2015, he was close to join Olympique Marseille instead of signing for Leicester City.

The French midfielder eventually signed for the Foxes and was a key-man in the incredible title-winning campaign last year and signed for Chelsea last summer, where he became a key-player for Antonio Conte‘s side as well.

“Among the clubs that most wanted to recruit me were Marseille and Leicester,” Kante told Canal +.

“I thought I had to go through a stage in France. I remember the generation of [Mamadou] Niang, [Franck] Ribery and Samir Nasri and it was a team that I liked, especially in the Champions League.”

Kante also had his say on the PFA Players’ Player of the Year Award, with the midfielder remaining humble and suggesting others deserve the gong ahead of him.

“There are quite a few players in the Premier League who deserve this award.

“There is Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and David Luiz in my team.”

According to Goal.com, Olympique Marseille are looking to employ the talents of Jeremie Boga next season.

The Ligue 1 giants will hope to beat Rayo Vallecano to the chase, as they have also been linked with Boga.

Boga appears to be in Chelsea’s future interests, appearing on the bench against Sunderland on the last day of the season. The Blues reportedly want Boga to sign a contract extension before they let him go on loan, as the 18 year-old has previously expressed a desire to play for Marseille – the club he supported from his early years.

Regardless, Boga has stated that his “first choice would be to stay in England,” although Marseille is “close to [his] heart.”

Chelsea sources report that the team hopes Boga’s additional experience will help him compete for a first team slot in the following season.
