After moving from Chelsea to Sunderland the past week Papy Djilobodji is determined to show everyone that he was worth a Blues shirt, especially to José Mourinho, that didn’t believe in him very much after signing him in the last day of the transfer window last year:

There are plenty of people who say that I wasn’t good enough for Chelsea.

“I want to show that I could have played, to enjoy myself and to please everyone.

Speaking about Mourinho and the chances he didn’t get under him he said:

“I’m not the type of person who goes to see the coach to ask him to play me – I never did that.

“One of Mourinho’s assistants told me to go talk to him but, no, I didn’t want to.

“What I was showing in training, for me, was sufficient. Beyond that, if he wants to put me in, it’s good.”

Werder Bremen are keen on signing Chelsea misfit Papy Djilobodji on a permanent deal, according to the Daily Express.

The Bundesliga club’s general manager, Frank Baumann, told Kicker: “We have him further on the screen, we are checking the matter.

“In concrete terms, however, there is nothing.”

The 27-year-old scored two times and made 14 appearances during his loan spell with Werder Bremen last season.

Papy Djilobodji, the 27-year-old, on loan at Werder from Chelsea, has been handed a two-game ban for unsportsmanlike conduct after making a throat-slitting gesture in Werder Bremen‘s 1-1 draw with Mainz on Saturday.

A three-match suspension for the Chelsea loanee had initially been proposed by the DFB, but today has been reduced to just two games. A statement of the club said: “The DFB disciplinary board has handed out a two-match ban as well as a €15,000 fine to Papy Djilobodji.”

Chelsea are riddled with injuries in the defensive department at the moment and the loss to PSG last night underlined the importance of depth at the back.

John Terry and Kurt Zouma are both out injured forcing Ivanovic to stay in the centre, Baba Rahman has under-performed and Brazilian winger Kenedy had to make up the left back position, unsurprisingly it was Kenedy who was at fault for PSG‘s opening goal. He did well going forward but was missing some times which left space for PSG to exploit.

Chelsea do have other defenders at their disposal but Michael Hector and Papy Djilobodji are both out on loan and young American Matt Miazga didn’t make the squad.

The squad as a whole, only 4 senior players featured last night out of the 9 signings Chelsea have made in the last 3 windows. Alexandre Pato, who Chelsea signed on loan 2 months ago, didn’t even make the bench.

It’s clear that Chelsea need to assess their current situation and bring in some quality to help them reach the levels they reached last season when they won the Premier League.

After failing to secure John Stones from Everton last summer, Jose Mourinho the then Chelsea boss signed Senegalese international Papy Djilobodji from Nantes to add depth to his team.

The deal was between £3m and £4m and contracted the player to Stamford Bridge for 4 years. Since signing for Chelsea, the 27-year-old has appeared for just 62 seconds as a late substitute. The centre back is still unclear why he was given such little opportunity to prove himself.

“Really, I don’t know. I gave everything.” He told German newspaper gild.

“But the coaches have decided it. For me, it is also incentive for me to work hard.”

Djilobodji is currently on loan with Werder Bremen and it is believed the German side are trying to sign the player on a more permanent basis.

Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji has completed a loan move to German side Werder Bremen.

The deal sees the Senegalese move to the Bundesliga until the end of the season.

Djilobodji moved to Stamford Bridge late last summer for £4 million from French side FC Nantes, but has played just a minute of football – a Capital One Cup substitute appearance against Walsall.

Bremen currently sit third-bottom in the Bundesliga.

It is unknown if this loan will lead to a permanent move.

German side Werder Bremen are reportedly closing in on a deal for Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji, Sky Sports claims.

The 27-year old has played just one minute of football for the Blues – a late substitute appearance in the Capital One Cup against Walsall.

Despite only making his £4 million move from French side Nantes late last summer, it appears Djilobodji could be on the move after just five months having failed to break into either Jose Mourinho’s or Guus Hiddink’s side.

It appears Bremen, who sit just two points off the bottom of the Bundesliga in 16th, are keen to take Djilobodji on loan until the end of the season.

Although Chelsea refused to comment, Bremen chief executive Thomas Eichin told Bild: “We are in negotiations.”

Chelsea are looking to offload struggling defender Papy Djilobodji to French club Marseille, the Daily Express states.

The Senegalese has made just one appearance for the Blues since his arrival in the summer – an injury-time appearance against Walsall in the Capital One Cup.

Despite only moving from FC Nantes for £3 million less than six months ago, French publication Fichajes are claiming that Chelsea are willing to offload Djilobodji to Marseille, who themselves have reportedly been eyeing the 27-year old for several months.

Djilobodji is already well down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues set to continue their pursuit of Everton defender John Stones in the next transfer window.

It is unclear if an official bid has been made, or indeed how much Chelsea would be willing to get rid of Djilobodji for.

According to Calciomercato, Chelsea’s surprising signing Papy Djilobodji may soon leave Stamford Bridge on loan. The Italian paper claims, that Serie A giants Lazio will try to lure the Senegal international at Stadio Olimpico.

Djilobodji joined Chelsea in a £3m deal from Nantes in the last day of summer transfer window. Unfortunately since then he has made just one appearance for the Blues. What is more Jose Mourinho commenting on his transfer said that Djilobodji has never been his choice and he has no knowledge about the player .So it is not surprising that the player would try to leave Stamford Bridge in January.

Also Football Italia reports, that Lazio were looking to bring in Djilobodji on loan, with an option to buy for £2.4 million.

While not so long ago ChelseaNews24 informed that Besiktas former Sporting Director Sinan Engin has revealed that the Turkish club have reached an agreement with Chelsea summer signing Papy Djilobodji.

Former Chelsea target Aymen Abdennour has confirmed that the Blues tried to sign him during the summer transfer window. It is said that the Tunisian was targeted by Mourinho after John Stones bids were rebuffed.

Aymen Abdennour has admitted that there was interest from Chelsea on summer but in the deal he has chosen to join the Spanish club. The defender left Monaco and signed a five-year deal with Valencia.

Abdennour told Super Deporte :

“There were a lot of clubs I could have gone to play for in England or in Italy, but in the the end [Peter] Lim’s project was what attracted me,”

“I felt really flattered by Valencia’s interest and it’s really good [to be here].”

“[Chelsea?] Yes, it’s true that there was interest.”

When it turned out that Tunisian has chosen Valencia, Chelsea signed Papy Djilobodji from Nantes. He made a debut for the Blues against Walsall in the Capital One Cup and it was his only appearance for Chelsea. That is why according to the latest rumours, he may leave Stamford Bridge in January.
