Andreas Christensen played yesterday in Chelsea‘s defeat at Wembley vs Tottenham in the Carabao Cup semifinal’s first leg.

The Danish defender however, believes the Blues deserved a better result:

It was a tough result,” Christensen told Chelsea Tv. “I felt as though, especially in the second half, we had a good spell in the game. We played good and had chances, and we probably feel as though we should have at least got a draw from it.”

The 1-0 loss is a bad result, but not too bad as Chelsea can play the second leg at Stamford Bridge and have many chances to advance to the Carabao Cup final.  “After we went 1-0 down it was good that we didn’t just think it was over, we kept going and we knew we just had to stay in the game because it’s over two legs,” Christensen added. “We’re still in it and we think we can decide the game at home.”

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is quite happy with what he saw today from his team:

Good in the first half, not so much in the second half. Lost a lot between the defenders and the midfielders. We have to improve very quickly”. the Italian said during the press conference after the Blues’ win over Perth Glory. “The result is not a mirror of the game but it is more important at this moment for the performance”

Then Maurizio Sarri spoke also about the summer transfer window: he want to play with Courtois, Willian and Hazard, the players who could leave Chelsea, but he is confident he can keep them at Stamford Bridge: “It doesn’t depend only on me, I am confident.” Sarri admitted. “I’d like to talk to a person face by face.”

Good news for Chelsea players in Belgium‘s World Cup debut and 3-0 win vs Panama

Eden Hazard provided an assist for Romelu Lukaku 3-0 goal in the second half.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois spent a quiet afternoon as he had to make just two saves both during the second half: one on a shot by Murillo and the second after an Escobar‘s free-kick from just outside the box.

Speaking during the pre-game press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League game vs Barcelona at Camp NouWillian has revealed he and his team-mates have one additional reason to perform at their best.

For sure this is a fantastic stadium with a big pitch. I think that every single player needs to play this type of game must be excited, to play this type of game. Willian said. “A lot of my players have never played in this stadium. This is the first time and we want to do our best.”

He doesn’t know if he will be playing neither if he will celebrate if he will score a goal, but Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has a very strong intention about Wednesday night Champions League game vs Barcelona at Nou Camp.

The Spanish player, when asked about Leo Messi, told the Daily Mirror: “If I am lucky enough to play, it’s true that we are positioned in nearby areas of the pitch, stopping him will be difficult but I will try to do everything possible so that he feels uncomfortable and can’t put together a perfect performance. I see him as a rival who wants to win, and I want the same thing. We are in different teams and each player wants what is best for their own club. Obviously, you always have respect for each other.”

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson spoke to the media this afternoon ahead of Saturday’s Premier League game vs Chelsea.

The Blues have lost their last two games but the fact Antonio Conte‘s side want to react and bounce back could represent one more difficulty for Crystal Palace.

When you come against a team not having the best of times, that can be a very dangerous time to play them. Hodgson said. “They have fantastic players and are a brilliantly run club, a powerful club. Not too many positives I can take. We can only hope that we can reproduce the recent performances against similar opponents, and give them as good a game as we did against Spurs and United. If we can reproduce the performance from the last two games we will have a chance of getting something”.

Also Roy Hodgson revealed that Wilfried Zaha is recovering from his injury and he can be part of the team who will travel to Stamford Bridge.  “He has had a ball at his feet for a while and been training solo, with the physios. He was able to join in with the team today in a modified session, which is enormous progress. We are very happy his progress has been as fast as it has been, but we have to be careful as it was a serious injury. We will see how he feels. He will be with us tomorrow in another light session, but it has been a remarkable recovery and we have to be careful. We can’t think after two light sessions he can be the Wilfried Zaha we have seen before the injury”.

Ernesto ValverdeBarcelona‘s manager is happy with his team’s result tonight at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of the Champions League last 16.

Our performance? It seemed pretty good to me,” Valverde said after the game. “We went to a place where it’s difficult to play. [Chelsea] are the champions of the Premier and we carried their weight from the first whistle. They had some strong players who posed us problems on the counter, but they hardly had any chances. It’s a good result and I think we deserved the 1-1. It’s difficult when so many players group up against you. It’s difficult to find space. Therefore, you must fight back with quality, pace and good finishing. Did Messi drop too deep? Possibly, but they defended with five at the back. If we put five more up top, they’d defend with 10 players there and they’d enjoy the space as a result. We had to protect ourselves, so we’re happy in that sense. How do I see the return leg? There’s still a long way to go. That’ll be the decisive match. To some extent, they’ll be more obligated [to perform], but our approaches may be similar. Why Aleix and not Dembele? [Dembele’s] been out injured for a while, and for a match like this, Coaches go with the things they know best”. Aleix also gives us things, a different profile. When we’re faced with a match like this, I rely on certainties. I had to play Paulinho as a starter and then bring on Aleix Vidal for more depth. It wasn’t the time to experiment. That’s how I see it.”

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas believes the Blues deserved a better result tonight vs Barcelona at Stamford Bridge based on the performance Antonio Conte‘s side produced on the pitch vs the Spanish giants.

It is such a shame really. I thought we were very good, we executed the game plan really well, we were compact, solid, played as a team and created lots of chances – Willian could have had a hat-trick – but we go home sad because a fantastic performance is not a fantastic result,” Fabregas told BT Sport. “It is still open though and we have showed that we can compete and we will need another excellent performance at the Nou Camp to go through. You have to have a lot of personality to play against this team who has 70% of the ball. We have to go there to attack and score because 90 minutes defending at the Nou Camp is an eternity, it is a suicide mission. We have to play our game.”

Bournemouth‘s manager Eddie Howe is delighted after seeing his team defeating Chelsea tonight at Stamford Bridge.

According to Howe the Cherries showed their best performance in their Premier League seasons so far: “I think that has to be our best result and the best performance in getting the result. We had to be at our best against Chelsea and everyone was magnificent,” Howe told BBC Sport. “Our aggressiveness, our work-rate was spot on. It was a game of few chances but we deserved the scoreline in the end. We were desperate for a clean sheet, the last few stages were difficult to watch as the lads tired and we just wanted to get those three points and secure the clean sheet. It’s not a statement to other teams as such but more for ourselves; we’ve beaten Arsenal and Chelsea recently so if we needed any more belief then that has to come now.”

Chelsea's Brazilian midfielder Willian (L) celebrates with Chelsea's Belgian midfielder Eden Hazard (C) after scoring during the English Premier League football match between Huddersfield Town and Chelsea at the John Smith's stadium in Huddersfield, northern England on December 12,

After his great performance vs Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea star Eden Hazard dismisses claims from his father according to whom the Belgian player rejected a new contract with the Blues because of Real Madrid.

My dad says some bad things,”  Hazard said. “I talked with him, no worries. I’m focused with Chelsea. ‘I’ve got two years contract left and I’m happy here. Like I said 10 times before, I want to finish this year and then we’ll see. But I’m happy here.”
