Chelsea starlet Eden Hazard has lifted the first award of 2018/19 season after being crowned September’s Premier League Player of the Month Award.

The Belgium international netted 5 goals (against Bournemouth, Cardiff City and Liverpool) in the 4 Premier League games played by the Blues last month.

Hazard has featured in Belgium’s 2-1 win against Switzerland last night and Red Devils remain on top of their UEFA Nations League group following two wins from two games so far.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has confirmed he firmly believes Eden Hazard “can score 40 goals” this season as he told him the day after an outstanding hat-trick against Cardiff City at Stamford Bridge.

“But you have to spend less energy far from goal and you have to play in the last 25 metres of the field” Sarri added.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa won the EA Sports Player of the Month award today, and told the club’s official website: “Things are going well at the moment. The team is doing well and this shows that things are working out for me,”

“The team performance has a bearing on this individual award. If we were bottom, I doubt I’d have won it. So, it’s down to my team-mates, thanks to the club and hopefully we can continue this winning run”.

Then Costa added: “Thanks also to the fans for this award but the most important thing for me and the club is that we are up there fighting for the league at the end of the season”.

Chelsea were in super form in October and the team dominated that month’s Premier League awards and after Antonio Conte being named as the best manager of the month, Eden Hazard is awarded with the EA Sports Player of the Month prize.

“It means a lot, we played a very good month,” was first Eden Hazard’s comment on his award

“I scored a lot of goals and all the team played well. We scored a lot of goals and we didn’t concede a goal. I’m the best player this month but the most important thing is at the end to win the league and to do that we have a lot of things to do from now until then.”

Eden Hazard‘s sensational return to form hasn’t gone unnoticed, as his performances have helped chelsea to a 100 percent start to the season and joint table-toppers with Manchester United and Manchester City, with 2 goals and a series of outstanding performances,it’s a reminiscent of his 2014/2015 performances that won him the PFA player of the year award, for that he has landed the August’s Player of the Month award.

Hazard saw off competition from Hull City’s captain Curtis Davies, Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Manchester United’s Antonio Valencia. Hazard edged Valencia who was in second place with 41% to 34% respectively.

The Chelsea man endured a torrid 2015/2016 campaign and it seems he’s up to make amends after him and his teammates capitulated just after winning the Premier League.
Antonio Conte will be hoping Hazard continues his good form at the Liberty stadium when Chelsea battles Swansea in the weekend.

NIGEL PEARSON LEICESTER CITY MANAGER
Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson won the latest Manager of the Month Award

It seems absurd but the manager who won the Premier League after leading the table from “day one” until the end is not going to win a single “Manager of the Month Award” this season.

The same is for John Terry, the captain, the leader and the “rock” of Chelsea, for many people the real top-player of the team, without detracting anything to stunning Eden Hazard who, anyway, never won the prize either.

The only player in Chelsea squad that was awarded with the monthly prize was Diego Costa back in August, due to his impressive start in the Premier League.

It’s right that to win the league is far better and more important that win these individual awards, but it seems also really absurd that the best team of the Premier League never got any recognition.

Both Mourinho and Terry were nominated to win this month, but at the end the winners were Nigel Pearson, who’s undergoing an impressive good run with Leicester City, and Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, who scored five goals in four games in April.
