It has not been a great start of season for Kenedy: firstly, the 21-year-old Brazilian was sent home from Chelsea Asian pre-season tour because of his offensive China posts; now manager Antonio Conte says the player is not part of his plans for the Blues squad for 2017-2018 season.

“I think that Kenedy last season didn’t play before he went on loan to Watford”. – Conte told the Evening Standard – “He only played 10 minutes. When he went back with Chelsea he played only twice. For him, his development, it is important to find the right solution for him to play regularly.”

Willy Caballero was the only Chelsea‘s new signing to experience the Asian pre-season tour from its start to its finish and he is very happy with this experience.

“It was a good pre-season tour,” – Caballero told Chelsea official website – “After a long career it is a new one, in this case with a manager from Italy so I was expecting training like that, and it was good. The way we work with Thibaut Courtois and Eduardo, it was fantastic. The way they gave me a very warm welcome, it was amazing and also the whole squad. Pre-season was good and it was what I was expecting”.

Except for one thing: “It was a surprise for me to have to sing! – Caballero continued – “That was a very good night but it was a little bit stressful because I wasn’t expecting something like that. It was funny and a new culture for me, although when you are in front of the players and the boss, close to you, it is not so funny! I sang a Spanish reggae tune.”

After spending his last season on loan at Vitesse, Lewis Baker his training with Chelsea in the pre-season and he feels good ahead of the new season despite admitting the Asian tour was very tough.

“It’s been a good couple of weeks for us in Asia”, – Baker told Chelsea official website -. “A couple of disappointing results but pre-season is really about getting our fitness levels up and coming together as a team. The training has been tough especially in the heat but it’s been good for us and we should be ready for the Community Shield now. After beating the Gunners in Beijing, the team spent a week in Singapore, regularly training twice a day and playing testing matches against Bayern and Inter in the International Champions Cup Singapore. It’s a long way to travel but I really enjoyed spending a week in Singapore. It’s a nice place, the facilities are good and we’ve been treated very well”.

After the Asian pre-season tour, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes Chelsea are on the right way to be competitive also this season in the Premier League.

There are, however, some aspects of the game which need to be improved by the Blues.

“I think the performance was okay,” – Courtois told Chelsea official website commenting the match vs Inter Milan – “In the first half both teams had a lot of possession. They had an early chance and I made a save but just before half-time the referee saw a penalty where there wasn’t one. Azpi played the ball, he might have brushed against the guy with his arm but I don’t think you can say it was a penalty. It was a pity because I saved it but then I was unlucky with the rebound. We didn’t start the second half well, I made a good save and as we were pushing for a goal they hit us on the counter attack. It was a bit like the Bayern game, with us conceding goals on the break so we need to work on that. ‘Some players like Antonio Rudiger only joined recently and he was away at the Confederations Cup with Germany. I don’t think he lost a lot of fitness but he might need a little bit more work, we will all be ready for the season though.”

After their Asian Tour, in which they played three games, Chelsea are back in Europe.

Antonio Conte’s side is preparing his first official match of the season: the Community Shield vs Arsenal at Wembley.

First of all, however , the Blues manager believes his players have to rest after the tour and three games in just eight days.

“Now it is difficult to tell how far off we are,” Conte said as reported by the Daily Mirror -“We have to continue to work. My players are very tired because they played three games in only eight days. With this temperature and humidity, players are always the same and they will be tired. It is important to rest and to come back to London and restart work”.

Then, on Sunday, Chelsea will play vs Arsenal for the Community Shield: “It is not a friendly game. It is an official game and there is a trophy so for us it must be important,” – Conte continued. – “Every fixture has its own history and now we have to play another game. We lost the final of the FA Cup and it was a pity as we were in a position to win. But Arsenal won. Now this is another story, we must be able to fight and be able to win.”

It’s a bit tough but for sure it’s great to play here, and we played in China and found a fantastic atmosphere. To see all the fans wearing our shirts, and to see their passion was great. Tomorrow I hope to see the same in Singapore”.
