Former Arsenal star Paul Merson, now a pundit at Sky Sports, is backing Chelsea to beat Southampton in tomorrow’s FA Cup semifinal and secure their place in final.

“It’s harder for Southampton to win the FA Cup now than it would be at the third-round stage. Seriously,” Merson claimed.

“You could win this FA Cup by not playing a strong side, but now they’ve got to beat two top teams – and they’re in the bottom three.

“They could near-on be relegated by the time they’re playing on Sunday. You have to go for it at Wembley, you might as well. If someone said you’ll get relegated but win the FA Cup I think the fans would take that. It’s not nice watching a team every week that don’t win, so why not give it a go.

“I think Southampton can bounce back if they go down, but I might be wrong. I’m going to have to go for a Chelsea win.”

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Paul Merson has his say on Chelsea vs Arsenal which will be played on Saturday.

According to the former player it will be crucial, for both teams, scoring the first goal of the game: “It’s all about the first goal”. – Merson wrote – “If Arsenal score first you will watch and think ‘wow, they look decent’. They will be confident and they have good players who look decent when they are winning. But when they are losing too many of them just go completely and utterly missing. The shape goes out of the window and if they let in the first goal it could be anything.”

BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton made his predictions for this Premier League fixture.

The former England international striker, who had a fairly poor one-year stint at Chelsea in 1999/00 when he scored just three goals in all competitions, feels the Blues will suffer another defeat at Wembley.

Sutton reckons Spurs will win 2-1.

Here are his odds from BT Sport twitter account:

Speaking to Sport Review on BT Sport, Jermaine Jenas made his predictions for the Premier League season that has just started.

The former Spurs midfielder believes both Manchester sides and Chelsea will make it to the top four, but Pep Guardiola’s team will win the title:

“I think both Manchester clubs will be in the top four along with Chelsea, Jenas claimed.

“Then it’s almost a battle between Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal.

“I think Spurs will do it and end up in the top four. They’ll have enough and get used to Wembley.

“And I think Manchester City will win the league. Those are my predictions!”

ARSENAL– Cech; Holding, Koscielny, Monreal; Chamberlain, Ramsey, Xhaka, Kolasinac; Ozil, Giroud, Welbeck.

Eden Hazard and new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko are still recovering from injuries

Pedro is a doubt: he could play with a protective face mask after suffering multiple fractures in a clash with Gunners keeper David Ospina in a friendly game in China in July.

Victor Moses, sent off for simulation in May’s Cup final,  is available for today’s match but will miss the Blues’ first League game against Burnley.

Alexis Sanchez and Shkrodan Mustafi are a doubt for today’s game for lack of fitness

Francis Coquelin had to be withdrawn through injury at the Emirates Cup and is a doubt.

Gabriel Paulista will miss the start of the season

Jack Wilshere is not yet fully fit.

Laurent Koscielny is available for for the match: he received a red card and a three-match ban for a ridiculous foul on Enner Valencia in Arsenal’s final League match against Everton, ruling him out of the FA Cup final, as well as the first two league matches of the new season (Leicester & Stoke City).

To win is difficult, but to keep winning is the most difficult thing in every sport, especially modern football, where the competition is always on top.

Chelsea won an extraordinary league in the past season, but now they will have to face Champions League as well, trying to be competitive in the Premier League at the same time.

That is why Arsenal legend Martin Keown, now a pundit at Sky Sports, believes Manchester City – who were English football biggest flop in the past season – can be the favourite to win the league, with Chelsea struggling a little more:

“The safe money is on Chelsea [to win the title next season] but if Manchester City get the players they want then they could win it,” was Keown’s prediction for Sky Sports on next campaign.

Ex Arsenal and Boro player Paul Merson now a Sky Sports pundit, made his prediction about next Chelsea game at Burnley:

“When you talk about Burnley, you are talking about one of the best home records in the Premier League – that is some going as not many would have said that at the start of the season.

Chelsea‘s record against teams outside the top six is imperious, though.

“Swansea are the only team outside those top clubs to get a point off Chelsea, Antonio Conte‘s men have put the so-called lesser teams to the sword.

“For as much as I admire Burnley I cannot see past Chelsea, they will have too much for them”.

Former Liverpool and Manchester United star Michael Owen gave his prediction on Chelsea clash at Sunderland, claiming the Blues could beat the Black Cats without conceding any goal:

“A fixture that has seen an average of 3.7 goals per game in the history of the PL -30 games,” the former striker said to BetVictor.

“It is possible that one might be enough for this burgeoning and confident Chelsea side.”

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson provided his prediction of Chelsea v West Bromwich.

The Blues will try to get their ninth win in a row against the Birmingham side next Sunday at Stamford Bridge, and this is what Merson predicted:

West Brom have done brilliantly so far, but it’s a big ask at Stamford Bridge. They will keep it tight, make it difficult and wait for set-pieces.

Who could have seen them being a point behind Manchester United in early December? What an achievement.

As for Chelsea, they have some very winnable games over Christmas and if they keep this run going, they could be hard to catch.

His predicted score is 2-0 for Chelsea.

Speaking to BetVictor former Liverpool and Manchester United star Michael Owen gave his prediction about today’s game at Stamford Bridge Chelsea v Burnley.

Dyche‘s side impressed last week beating Liverpool 2-0 in the second Premier League fixture, and now are ready to challenge the Blues at their home even if they were knocked out by Accrington Stanley in the EFL Cup a couple of days ago.

Chelsea won their two previous league game with Diego Costa‘s late winners and beat Bristol Rovers in the EFL Cup in a strange game where new signing Michy Batshuayi was the hero, scoring a brace:

“It’s been a mixed week for Clarets fans; the ecstasy of taking three points from Liverpool and the agony of the League Cup Cup loss to neighbours Accrington Stanley,” Owen said to the bookmaker’s website.

“The Blues have won all three games under Antonio Conte but not kept a clean sheet; I expect them to gain a comfortable win at the Bridge.”

Chelsea head-coach Maurizio Sarri had his say following his side's 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. The Italian boss told SkySports: "I only saw the match...
