Diego Costa spoke in an interview with the Daily Mail and attacked Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte, since he’s considered the responsible for his premature departure from Stamford Bridge.

“In January, things happened with the coach – Diego Costa explained – I was on the brink of renewing my contract and they put the brakes on it.

“I suspect the manager was behind it. He asked for that to happen. I have seen the sort of person he is. He has his own opinion and that will not change. I respect him as a great coach. He has done a good job and I can see that, but as a person, no.

The Spaniard says the text message he received at the end of season was ‘a shock’: “I was with the Spain national team, alone in my room, when it (the text message) came through. It was a shock to get it like that. I was showing it to my team-mates and they could not believe how he had done it. I was angry at the time. Now I am more calm.

“I have not deleted the message. If people accuse me of lying, I can show them. It was clear, saying that he didn’t count on me and wishing me the best for the future. Full stop. Conte has his mentality. He thinks it’s the best way of working.

Then Diego Costa added: “My idea would be to go to Madrid, train there, get in the best physical shape and be ready to fire ahead of the World Cup. I’ve spoken to Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia. I said, “If the manager doesn’t want me, I want to go to Atletico Madrid”. I have rejected other offers. They want to sell me to China or other teams.

“If I have to I will stay in Brazil. I am open to being a year in Brazil without playing, even if Chelsea fine me for a year and don’t pay me. I’ll come back stronger. If I was in the wrong, I’d go back now and do as they say.”

Andreas Christensen made his debut for Chelsea in the first half against Burnley, replacing Boga after Gary Cahill was sent off.

“I think everyone knows what happened. – the defensive-midfielder said – We have to pick ourselves up and look forward to the next game”.

“We could have taken something from this match. When we got the first goal, the belief grew and you could feel it in the stadium as well. The noise and everything just went to another level and we could have got something”.

Chelsea came from behind in the second half scoring twice with Alvaro Morata and David Luiz: “We’re proud of our second half – Christensen noted – we fought well and we know we had made it difficult for ourselves in the first half. I think everyone is quite clear what happened and now we are just looking forward”.

“We have to fight the same way. Be clever, play our type of football again and I’m sure everybody is looking forward to Tottenham next week”.

Tottenham Hotspur wing-back Danny Rose has confirmed he will consider an move to Chelsea if the Blues place a bid until the transfer market deadline.

The England international recently said: “I am reaching my peak and probably only have one more big contract left in me”,

“Time is running out and I do want to win trophies. I don’t want to play football for 15 years and not have one trophy or one medal”.

“That’s not what I’m about. I’m not saying I want out but if something came to me that was concrete, I’d have no qualms about voicing my opinions to anyone at the football club”.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte gave his thoughts after the game against Burnley and praised new signing Alvaro Morata, who scored a goal providing also an assist in the second half.

“I think Alvaro has good space to improve, he’s working very well and working very hard to quickly find good fitness and adapt himself to our style of football. – Conte told journalists speaking at press conference – For sure he played very well, he scored a goal and played a good game”.

Then he added: “Now we have to work, we know this. That is the only way for me and my players. I’m not worried because we have to trust in our work”.

“Today there were three injured players, Pedro, Hazard and Bakayoko, and Moses was banned. I don’t know if Pedro will have recovered for the next game but for sure we will have two players banned, Cahill and Fabregas”.

Antonio Conte wants no excuses after Burnley defeat at Stamford Bridge today: the Italian boss remarked that he is satisfied with his current squad and he’s not forcing Chelsea to make other moves in this transfer window:

“I can say that now we got these players and we must work with them, then if the club will be able to do something…better. But now we have to work with these guys.”

“We must focus on working very hard with these players. As for the transfer market, the club is trying to do the best. I am not worried, I am ready to fight with these players.

“I repeat: it is important for us to concentrate on our work, to be focused every day in training and to try to work in our best way. No excuses.”

Antonio Conte was clearly disappointed after Burnley’s home defeat in Premier League first clash at Stamford Bridge and believes there was a referee decision that was a turning point in the game:

“We started well, with the right attitude. The Cahill red card changed everything, I think it was unfair: we lost our mind, we cannot concede three goals in twenty minutes,” the Italian told Sky Sport Italia.

“We tried to come back, we had our chances: it was a double-face game, one negative and one positive. We have to work hard because this season will be really tough and intense.”

Alvaro Morata made an impact after replacing Michy Batshuayi with 30 minutes to go, speaking about him Conte said:

“Alvaro has been training with us for ten days, he is training hard to find the perfect physical shape and understand our game style, this is the reason why I don’t want to put too much pressure and responsibility on him. He is a young guy but he’s got international experience, he did really well in the 30 minutes he played.

When asked if he believes to recover some of the injured players for Spurs game next weekend, Conte claimed:

“I don’t think I can recover some injured player durinng the week, now we will miss also Cahill and Fabregas.

“Speaking about the transfer market I can say that now we got these players and we must work with them, then if the club will be able to do something…better. But now we have to work with these guys.”

Jermaine Jenas reckons Chelsea have found the player to replace Diego Costa.

The former Forest and Spurs midfielder claims Alvaro Morata is the heir of Brazilian-born striker.

After a bad official debut against Arsenal last Sunday, the Spaniard impressed after he entered for Michy Batshuayi with 30′ to go: he scored the Blues first goal, made the assist for David Luiz’s one and had another one disallowed.

“The impact and difference Morata made when he was on the field was unbelievable,” Jenas said as a BT Sport pundit.

“And if Conte’s saying he’s not quite up to speed then I can’t wait to see him when he is up to full speed.

“He did have a bit of Costa about him where he did ruffle a few feathers. He did put himself into challenges and won a few headers, he held up the ball and took his goal well.”
