Chelsea manager Antonio Conte spoke after the goalless draw against Leicester City at home.

The Italian manager said: “I think to find an excuse or alibi, today we paid for our effort against Arsenal,”

“To play on Wednesday and then against a really good, physical team like Leicester, after only two days, is tough. We played with almost the same players as we did against Arsenal”.

‘”My plan was to play with one team against Norwich and then these last two games with the same team. I saw a lot of players who were very tired”.

Willian and Pedro came off the bench to replace Fabregas and Hazard earlier in the second half: “We suffered a lot in the first half and at the start of the second half” said Conte.

“When I decided to put on fresh energy the game changed. We tried to create chances to score without suffering defensively and win the game, but in the end I think the result was fair.”

Manchester United fans are mocking Antonio Conte and Chelsea claiming the Blues boss was distracted following his well-known argument with former Blues’ manager Jose Mourinho:

Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois slams Blues fans after they booed the team at Stamford Bridge following today’s goalless draw – the third one in a row- against Leicester.

Antonio Conte’s side offered a really discouraging performance in the clash against the Foxes and the people attending the game showed their disappointment after the final whistle booing their own team:

“It doesn’t help when the fans boo and whistle after each misplaced pass,” said the Belgian goalkeeper, who was a protagonist in the match with an unbelievable save on Ndidi’s header in the first half that helped his team to keep a clean sheet.

“We didn’t play well but that’s when we need the fans behind us.”

History was involuntarily made at Stamford Bridge today by Chelsea and Antonio Conte.

In fact, the Premier League champions have now recorded three consecutive goalless draws in all competitions for the first time in their history after 10-man Leicester escaped West London with more than a deserved point.

The Foxes became the third consecutive team to stop the Blues coping comfortably with everything Conte’s side could muster, even after Ben Chilwell was sent off midway through the second half.

Before today Chelsea collected other two goalless draw against Norwich in FA Cup third round and against Arsenal in the first leg of League Cup semifinal.

Another disappointing game for Chelsea, another goalless draw, the fourth one in a row if we consider the FA Cup and the League Cup, where the Blues obtained two 0-0 against Norwich City and Arsenal.

Stamford Bridge boos its disappointment after the final whistle after witnessing another deplorable performance and thanks Thibaut Courtois for keeping a clean sheet against a team that, especially in the first half, played for the three points and had more chances: his save on Ndidi in the first part was unbelievable.

Antonio Conte even tried a desperate move when, with no substitutions left after Gary Cahill was forced out with a hamstring injury at 33′, when he replaced Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas, both irritating and lacking of pace in this game, with Willian and Pedro trying to give a boost to the team.

Chelsea also had the advantage to play 11 vs 10 for more than 20 minutes after Ben Chilwell was sent out for double booking at 68′ but  hey didn’t use it.

The only real dangerous chance of their game in the last seconds of injury time, when Marcos Alonso tried the match-point on a free-kick that was brilliantly saved by Kasper Schmeichel.

A very nervous Alvaro Morata failed to impress again, seeming to have lost his feeling with the goal.

With this draw the Blues maintain third position in the league with 47 points but should Liverpool win against Manchester City – still leading with 62 points- they will catch them.

Manchester United, now second with the Blues same points, will play against Stoke City on Monday night.

Chelsea will have their chance to redeem themselves in front of their fans in FA Cup third round replay against Norwich City on next Wednesday night.

Chelsea captain Gary Cahill trudged off the pitch with a suspect of hamstring injury in the first half of Premier League clash against Leicester City at Stamford Bridge today.

The result is still 0-0 after 45′ as the Blues struggled to cope with a vivid and determined side. Leicester shot 12 times providing an excellent display so far, while Cahill was replaced by Andreas Christensen.

Still goalless draw in the 50th minute, more to follow…

“We must be satisfied with his physical condition,” said Chelsea boss Antonio Conte when asked whether new signing Ross Barkley could feature for the Blues soon.

The Italian manager believes Barkley could be fully fit for the FA Cup replay against Norwich City later this month: “He is working very hard these days and maybe for the next game against Norwich he could be available to be in contention” Conte stated.

He added: “I hope so, because if he continues in this way, why not? This guy is not 100 per cent ready but I think he can start to help us for the rest of this season”.
