Chelsea boss Antonio Conte admitted his team will struggle to retain the Premier League title this year.

Having fell down to 4th position in the table with 13 points,  behind leading duo Manchester City and Manchester United after Saturday’s defeat against Pep Guardiola‘s side, the Italian manager claimed he had an easier job when managing Juventus to hold the title in Serie A:

“It is very difficult for every team in this league. To defend, it is very difficult to win two titles in a row.

”We won the title with Juventus and I was expecting a really strong challenge from AC Milan, but instead they sold Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to Paris St Germain, so they became weaker. It wasn’t simple second time, but it was easier.

“Here, from last season to this season, you have big teams and now they are bigger… And now after I think a great transfer market, they have improved a lot. It’s not simple to play this league.”

Bayern Munich have released a statement following their decision to sack Italian and former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti after the Bundesliga champions were trashed with a 3-0 in Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.

Bayern are currently 3rd in their league with 13 points, 3 points behind Borussia Dortmund.

“The performances of the team since the season start did not correspond to the expectations, – said CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge – The Paris match showed clearly there needed to be consequences. Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic and myself informed Carlo today of our decision in an honest and serious discussion”.

“Carlo is a friend of mine and will remain so but we had to take a professional decision for Bayern Munich. I now expect from the team a positive development and absolute passion so that we reach our goals.”

Carlo Ancelotti won the Premier League and F.A. Cup with Chelsea in 2009/10 campaign.

Chelsea star Eden Hazard ruled out a move to PSG claiming he has no intention to play in League 1 at the moment:

“There are some big clubs, and it was an attractive league even when I played in it six years ago,” Hazard told SFR Sport on the progress being made in French football.

“Big stars want to play in Ligue 1, and that is a good thing.  But if I am to return it will be to play for Lille,  they are my club.

“I still have a career to carve out, with a number of seasons ahead of me.”

“He’s very strong, Courtois. He wouldn’t be bad at PSG,” – Meunier told Le Parisien. – “We’ve already got two good goalkeepers but Thibaut also has the profile, I think. He’s very big – nearly two metres tall.”

During his unvealing for Paris Saint Germain new French football star Kylian Mbappe` revealed Chelsea was the first big club to offer him a chance when he was just a kid.

The former AS Monaco striker, who signed for PSG on £ 166m record fee last week, told the Blues invited him when he was a player at amateur side AS Bondy  to visit Cobham Training Centre.

The youngster played a friendly game alongside Jeremie Boga and Tammy Abraham for Chelsea academy.

The Blues scouts, anyway, were not impressed with the young French guy and must be kicking themselves following Mbappe’s sensational rise to fame in the past year.

It was a wonderful experience,” the 18-year-old said during his first press conference as a PSG player about his Chelsea trial.

Chelsea was the first great club, the first big club, that I went to visit.

“So it was a real discovery for me.

“I was coming from my grassroots, amateur club. It was a whole new world.

“Of course I had an idea what a great football club was like but I was really impressed by the working culture and the mentality of wanting to be better day-in, day-out.

“And visiting this infrastructure helped me, actually, with my development.

“I saw things differently because up until then I had just a French mentality and after that I could pick what was positive in other mentalities and build my own.”

New Chelsea midfielder Tiemoué Bakayoko reveals he didn’t regret choosing the Blues over Paris Saint Germain.

The French side is believed to have placed a bid to AS Monaco before Bakayoko moved to London but, eventually, they were beat by the club owned by Roman Abramovich, who secured the French international services for the next five years.

“Did they make a bid? I don’t know. But it’s hard not to be interested in a club like PSG, the new Chelsea player admitted.

“I opted for Chelsea, and I don’t regret my decision”.

The French international started 25 Ligue 1 games last season, scoring two goals and making one assist.

Before his €40 million move to Stamford Bridge the 24-year-old told France Football:

“I can’t leave Monaco to go to PSG.

“It’s impossible, because I’ve just finished champion ahead of Paris. I can’t leave for a club that has finished behind me.”
