Speaking during the press conference ahead of tomorrow night game vs Chelsea, midfielder Rajda Nainggolan shows his respect for the Blues, but says As Roma will do all they can in order to win the game and come a step closer to the Champions League last 16.

We respect Chelsea but we know how good we are too. They’re a great side but we’ll compete.” – Nainggolan said – Beating Chelsea would certainly be a major step in qualifying for the knockout stage. We know we can still improve, we can still get better. But we will take things one game at a time. Chelsea are a big team, but we know what we are capable of and our worth. We played a great game in London, we could have won it, but we need to be aware of Chelsea too. We will be playing in front of our own fans, a big crowd, and we have everything it takes to win the game.”

Also Nainggolan spoke about Antonio Conte and the fact that Chelsea tried to sign him during the summer transfer window: “Well I made my choice. I am always focused, I always have been, and fully concentrated on doing my best. I never hesitated or thought for a minute about leaving, so it doesn’t matter if it’s Chelsea or anyone else. It’s always nice to play against a top team, and like all professionals I know how to prepare for them. I’m ready to give my best and hope to play well.”

Then Radja Nainggolan also had his say about rotations: “Well a player always wants to play, wants to play every game – otherwise he’s not a footballer. But it is also important to rest and recover, because sometimes other players might be fitter than you. We are rotating at the moment and the results are there to see.”

They are team-mates in the Belgium national team and, for some weeks in the last two summers Radja Nainggolan has been also a Chelsea‘s target.

Now the Roma midfielder hails Eden Hazard saying the Blues striker, who is now recovering from an injury can compete for the Ballon d’Or with all the best football stars of the world.

“I think he has the capacity to win it because, for me, he is a very talented player, a very good player, a decisive player,” – Naingoolan told CNN Sports. -“He makes a difference on the pitch, but the only difference between him and, let’s say, Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, is that they score much more than him. So, I think that is the most important thing and it’s the only difference between them, because for me Hazard is, let’s say, is in world’s top five.”

Chelsea target Radja Nainggolan admits he’s thinking about his next step.

His future, anyway, is not set to be at Stamford Bridge but at Old Trafford instead.

Italian newspaper Il Tempo, based in Rome, claimed this week that United have offered the Roma midfielder a £130,000-a-week contract as José Mourinho looks to bolster his midfield with two new signings.

It is believed that the Portuguese manager personally told Nainggolan of his desire to sign the 29-year-old and offered to double his current wages, Roma have only offered to add an extra £17k to his weekly package.

The Belgian international is thinking about the Red Devils offer, as he suggested with a post on his Instagram personal account:

Posting on the social media website while on holiday on Monday afternoon, he wrote: ‘”Thinking about what to do??’”followed by some very suggestive emojis.

Naninggolan has already commented reports linking him with Man United some weeks ago, saying:

“It can be true, it can be not true, that’s something that you have to know.

“When you play football you have to make choices and last season my choice was to stay [at Roma]. We’ll see [what will happen this summer]. I’m going to go on vacation and then we will talk about it.”

Despite being the target of many European top clubs Radja Nainggolan claimed he wants to stay at Roma.

The Belgian midfielder admitted Chelsea wanted to sign him last summer, but he rejected their offer:

“I want to stay in Rome, I rejected the chance to join Chelsea last year. I want to stay,” Nainggolan told Centro Suono Sport.

Nainggolan is also one of the first target for Inter, who are close to appoint Luciano Spalletti – Nainggolan’s coach at Roma in the last 18 months- as their new manager.

Spalletti would like to bring the Belgian start to Milano with him, but after this statement and Radja’s will to extend his deal with the Giallorossi and commit to them, it will be tougher for everyone to let him part ways with the Italian capital side.

Chelsea target Radja Nainggolan admits he was in talk with the Blues last summer and claims a move to Stamford Bridge is still possible.

The Belgian midfielder reveals he spoke with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte during last summer transfer window:

“Yes, I talked to him,” Nainggolan said.

“They were really interested and wanted me. That’s all I can say. Bring me the sun and I’ll come.”

The Roma midfielder joked about the weather in England but admitted he is a big fan of the Premier League and has refused to rule out a transfer to the country in the near future.

“I watch the Premier League a lot. A lot of my international teammates play there.

“I think it’s the best league in the world. When the transfer market opens, we’ll talk about it again.”

Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan has confirmed had been targeted by Chelsea before choosing to remain at Roma despite Premier League rumors.

The 28-year-old confirmed he entered talks over a potential summer move, then he decided to stay in Italy extending his contract until June 2020.

When asked about those rumors, Nainggolan told Sky Sport in Italy: “Yes, there was contact, but then I quickly decided to remain.”

According to the Daily Mail and other English press sources Chelsea are keen to keep current sport director Michael Emenalo despite Antonio Conte‘s desire to bring an Italian transfer market guru: ex Roma sport director Walter Sabatini.

Sabatini and the Italian club parted ways ten days ago, so now he is free on the market, over the years he made good deals for the Giallorossi: Erick Lamela was signed for £ 10m and sold for 25.5m to Spurs, Marquinhos was signed for £ 3.9m and sold for £30m to PSG, just to make a couple of examples, but he brought to Roma also champions like Nainggolan and Manolas, that are still part of the club.

Despite Conte’s respect for Sabatini, Chelsea have no intention for now to let him take Emenalo’s place, as Daily Mail website reports:

The former Notts County defender is highly rated by owner Roman Abramovich, who values his work and experience in heading up the club’s complex system of loans and recruitment across Europe.

Conte, though, would like to find a way to work with Sabatini, credited with the emergence of Miralem Pjanic, Erik Lamela and Radja Nainggolan at Roma.

One option would be to change Emenalo’s role to make room for the Italian but no decision has been taken on such a switch-up.”

Sabatini was spotted at Stamford Bridge last spring: he denied any contact with Chelsea to get a job at Blues, anyway, claiming he travelled to London to discuss the final details for Salah definitive move to the Giallorossi.
