Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley is convinced that the Blues made a huge mistake by not replacing Jose Mourinho with Jurgen Klopp while he was still available.

According to Burley, Chelsea will soon regret their decision because Mourinho is pulling Chelsea to the bottom and has no idea how to turn the situation around.

Burley told talkSPORT:

“I said a couple of weeks ago when all this nonsense was going on [with Mourinho] that Chelsea should get rid of this guy now.”

“Klopp was out there, he was going to go to Liverpool, and Chelsea should have gone and got him. That didn’t happen and clearly it wasn’t going to happen but that was my opinion of what they should have done. I would have gone and got him.”

“I was not saying Mourinho should go because of a few bad results,”

“I was basing it on the fact that Chelsea are a global brand and the way Mourinho was acting, behaving and speaking outside of the 90 minutes of football was dragging the club, the players and their image through the mud.”

“Managers can get bad results, but Mourinho has to have a look at himself in terms of the way he handles things. It is not everyone else’s fault all the time.”

The Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has decided to exclude Diego Costa from Spain’s squad for their Euro 2016 qualifying match against Luxembourg due to his recent actions.

Chelsea striker was suspended for three games by FA after his controversial behaviour in the match against Arsenal and now, he has also been omitted from Del Bosque’s plans.

The Spain coach claims, that his decision was not followed by Costa’s poor performances in La Rioja games.

Costa has been cut from the squad and is going to be replace by the young Juventus star Alvaro Morata.

Vicente del Bosque said :

“Diego Costa is part of our future plans but suspended for a match,”

“We took the road to this decision irrespective of his ban with Chelsea. We don’t have to make it all about the ban.”

“What he did was unedifying, and that is why he was punished. Of course, I didn’t like what he did.”

“He can’t play the first match and we preferred not to bring him. He is not playing badly, we’ll select him in the future if everything goes normally.”

José Mourinho stated that he already knows who will replace the suspended Diego Costa tomorrow as a number 9 in the Chelsea attack against Newcastle, but he doesn’t want to reveal if it will be Loic Remy or Radamel Falcao because he can change his mind at last minute, after studying better McLaren’s side:

The Portuguese manager, in fact, claimed: “I know who will play as a striker but I don’t tell you, I have to know more about Newcastle, who’s playing, who’s not playing to study them better to take a better decision

Asked if players like Remy, who scored on Wednesday against Walsall, could get more motivation facing bigger teams like Newcastle, Mourinho answered: “I don’t think the motivation for the players change based on the rival”.

Loic Remy is convinced, that whoever starts up front at Newcastle on Saturday as Costa’s replacement will try to do his best for the team.

Due to the fact, that Diego Costa will face three-match ban, Jose Mourinho is likely to replace the Spaniard with Loic Remy or Falcao. The Frenchman made a great performance during Wednesday’s game against Walsall and it is very likely that he will play in the starting lineup on Saturday.

Remy told Chelsea’s official website:

”I think we will miss Diego because we know how important he is to the team, but we are focused on winning games and whoever is on the pitch will just try to do the best we can”

”Of course it’s a shame for us to lose him for three games”

”When you come in you try to do your best but when you’re not playing much it’s more difficult”

Remy scored some vital goals for Chelsea last season, and as he admits, it has helped him to increase his confidence :

”I can’t complain, I want to play and when the manager wants me to come in I try to score goals and give assists”

”I just try to play the way I play. I don’t want to put pressure on myself, I know my qualities and the manager knows he can use me as a striker or out on the side. With the games we have coming, maybe I will have an opportunity to play more, we will see”

Chelsea will face Newcastle on Saturday, where Remy spent the 2013/14 season on loan. The French player has admitted, that he is quite surprised that his former club are still without a win in the Premier League :

”It’s my old club so it’s always a pleasure to play against them, but the manager will decide the best team and pick 11 players, so we’ll see on Saturday”

”Yes, I’m surprised because they’re a big team, a strong team, but I’m sure they will get better soon”

Chelsea striker Loic Remy has promised, that even if he is aware of the fact, that replacing Diego Costa is a difficult task he will do his best to fill the void left by the Spanish striker.

Chelsea ace was given a three-game ban after being found guilty of violent conduct by the FA during last Saturday clash against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. One of the players who can replace the Spaniard is Loic Remy. The Frenchmen does not conceal that he would be happy to lead the line against Newcastle on Saturday.

Remy told ESPN:

“When we play for Chelsea it’s a question of giving the best – 100% – so of course I will do the best I can,”

“I think we will miss him [Costa] because we know how important he is for the team, but we are all focused on winning games. Whoever is on the pitch we will try to do the best we can. Of course it’s a shame for us to lose him.”

“Whoever is on the pitch will give their best. It’s my old club so it’s always a pleasure to play against them. The manager will decide and pick 11 players, we’ll see on Saturday.”

Mourinho and Perez have a great relationship

Chelsea boss José Mourinho admitted he spoke to Real Madrid manager Florentino Perez, but the chat was not about a possible return of him to Spain to manage the Merengues.

In the past days speculations ran about Real Madrid contacting Mourinho to manager them again replacing Carlo Ancelotti, whose adventure in the Spanish capital seems to be over.

But speaking to Spanish paper Marca Mourinho dismissed the rumour, admitting anywy he spoke to Perez, but for other purposes:

“It is not true [that he sounded me out]”

“The reality is that I called the president to congratulate him on the the European title won by the basketball section of the club”

“I know all too well what this success means for him, for Jose Angel Sanchez and Javi Coll. That is why I was so pleased and I wanted to congratulate him”.

QPR goalkeeper Rob Green could be next Chelsea number two.

With Petr Cech on the exit door next summer- he still got one year on his contract but he doesn’t like very much the idea of being Mourinho’s second choice for the goal for another season- the Blues are trying to replace him with a good number two and many rumours link to the Hoops’ keeper.

Despite QPR being in relagation position, Green – 35- stats look very good: comparing them to the Cech’s ones in the past season we find out that in terms of saves, Green has made more than Cech, 109 to 81, although the Czech keeper had 16 clean sheets in 34 appearances last year, while Green has just five in 29 this term.

Looking to high claims Green has made 45 total this season, with 42 of those successful, a success rate of 93%. In comparison, Cech made 37 total high claims last season, and was successful with every single one of them, a quite impressive stat.

So it seems that green can suit such a role even in an important side like Chelsea, where now Thibaut Courtois is the undisputed Number One.
