Ross Barkley

Antonio Conte will be speaking at Cobham Training Centre this afternoon (1.15PM), however Standard Sport believes midfielder Ross Barkley could be set for return to the starting line-up against Burnley, having recovered from a hamstring concern.

Chelsea will face Southampton in the FA Cup semi-final against Southampton on Sunday, then the Italian manager could have planned a ‘rotation plan’ to avoid risks of weakness.

Then Barkley, who has played just 130′ minutes since joining from Everton in the January transfer window, looks set for a comeback at Turf Moor.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte rules, again, David Luiz and Ross Barkley out for Crystal Palace clash tomorrow.

David Luiz is injured. Also Barkley,” the Italian coach said.

Then I have to check a couple of situations before making the decisions for the game.”

N’Golo Kante missed Sunday’s defeat at Manchester City after fainting following a training session 48 hours before the game.

The French midfielder has since been given the all-clear following medical tests.“N’Golo is fine. He trained the whole week and he’s in good form,” Conte said.

“Last week, on Friday, it was very cold. After the training session he passed out briefly in the dressing room.

“The doctor brought him to have many check-ups, to understand his physical condition, but it was all clear.

“I think on Sunday he was well, but at the same time it was right not to take the risk.

“He’s OK. Every check-up is OK, perfect.”

New Chelsea signing Ross Barkley made his debut with the Blues shirt in the Carabao Cup semifinal against Arsenal last Wednesday when he replaced injured Willian.

The former Everton attacking midfielder didn’t impressed but it was his first appearance after a very bad hamstring injury occurred last August that ruled him out until the other night.

Today, Antonio Conte claimed Willian is still injured and sidelined for the next games, then he revealed the England international is ready to start:

“After a bad injury you need a little time to be fit 100%, if you want to speed this process up he has to play, not only training during the week, after Willian and Morata‘s injury, we don’t have other options.”

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte revealed three players are not in contention for next Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Newcastle:

“Morata, Willian, Courtois are out,” the Italian said.”

When questioned on their recovery time, he claimed:

“I don’t know because it’s very difficult to tell today how many days they need to come back.

Morata has got this problem in his back, Courtois received a kick in his ankle, Fabregas trained today with us and tomorrow I will check his form.

Willian is out and he will have a scan today to value the extent of his injury.”

During this afternoon pre-match press conference Conte was also questioned about this winter transfer window, that is about to close but, again, he told he has nothing to do with signings, giving all the responsibility to the club:

“As you know very well the club will inform you if there are any news, as I repeated before and I say every three days, I will be very happy to continue to work with my players, to continue to work with some players, my opinion and my mind doesn’t change after only three days.

“I am repeating always the same thing, I am the coach, my task is to try to do the best for this club and to try to improve my players.”

As I said before, for the transfer market there is the club, I don’t speak about this, if there are news they will inform you

When asked if he will be at Chelsea next summer, Conte replied:

Nothing has changed since last summer, I am happy to for with my players and to work for this club, I am happy to try to put everything, all myself, for this job every day.

“I think every competition is important, in Carabao Cup we tried to go until the final, we reached the semifinal and then we lost against Arsenal. Now there is this other competition, FA Cup, we will try to go to next round but as you know very well this competition is very difficult and our opponent have the same idea.”

Conte was also asked about what changed respect to last season with games played every three days in this one:

“I think the players are happy because they want to play every game and this kind of situation is more difficult for the coach, not for the players, because they love to play and don’t have training sessions.”

Ross Barkley made his debut with Chelsea shirt against Arsenal last Wednesday and the manager revealed he is ready to start:

“After a bad injury you need a little time to be fit 100%, if you want to speed this process up he has to play, not only training during the week, after Willian and Morata’s injury, we don’t have other options.”

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is clearly disappointed after tonight’s defeat vs Arsenal, but he believes there were factors other than the Blues performance which determined this bad result.

There is big disappointment. When you arrive at this point you want to reach the final. Conte said. We had a good run, we had a great will to play at Wembley. We started well, scored, but conceded two strange goals. We were unlucky in circumstances”.

And one of these circumstances was Willian‘s injury:  “I think Willian’s injury was decisive. We don’t have many players to make substitutions. Morata was out. Conte went on. “I was a bit forced to play with Barkley. He’s a really good player and important or Chelsea but needs bit of time to get used to playing for Chelsea”.

In his press conference ahead of the Fa Cup‘s third round replay vs Norwich City at Stamford BridgeChelsea manager Antonio Conte explained why new signing Ross Barkley will not play.

He is not able to play because the transfer was late.”  Conte said. “We are preparing a friendly game for him this week and we will see his physical condition. He could be ready for the next game or the next game.”

Not only Barkley will miss tomorrow’s game, as both Cahill and Fabregas won’t be available due to their injuries.

“We must be satisfied with his physical condition,” said Chelsea boss Antonio Conte when asked whether new signing Ross Barkley could feature for the Blues soon.

The Italian manager believes Barkley could be fully fit for the FA Cup replay against Norwich City later this month: “He is working very hard these days and maybe for the next game against Norwich he could be available to be in contention” Conte stated.

He added: “I hope so, because if he continues in this way, why not? This guy is not 100 per cent ready but I think he can start to help us for the rest of this season”.
