On Sunday, Manchester United will face Manchester City at Old Trafford and Chelsea and the Blues manager Antonio Conte hope to narrow the gap with Pep Guardiola‘s side.

During his press conference ahead of Chelsea game vs West Ham, Conte tried to predict the result of the Manchester derby.

It’s very difficult to see two defeats in a row for a great team, it’s very difficult,” – Conte said about Manchester City – “Usually, it’s very difficult to see two defeats in a great team from my experience, but at the same time, Manchester United can beat Manchester City. ‘It was better if Manchester City didn’t lose the game against Shakhtar for these stats. For sure I’ll watch the game, I love football, I love to watch this type of game,’ said Conte. ‘For sure it will be a big game, both teams are very strong, very good, maybe the best in this league, for this reason I think it’ll be right to watch this game.”

Chelsea target Alex Texeira is being persuaded by two Blues stars for his move to Stamford Bridge.

The Shaktar Donetsk midfielder is close friend with both Willian and Oscar, and the two Brazilian midfielders are working to convince him to move to London according to the Telegraph.

Texeira already expressed the desire to become a Blues player a couple of months ago, when he claimed:

I’m glad to have received the proposal of Chelsea as they are a big club in Europe, but my manager will sort that.

“It’s my dream, I have spoken to many people who have the desire to play in the Premier League, because I think it’s the best World Championship, most competitive.

“For January, I believe it is very difficult because it is in the middle of the championship. Shakhtar has said they will not release me in January, only at the end of the season. But I’m with a clear head.”

Willian and Oscar are trying, anyway, to persuade him to transfer to London during this transfer window, as Chelsea need fresh energy and more talent to try to climb up the table and reach the four spot to qualify for Champions League.

He stated also that he would have loved to work with José Mourinho:

I hope he does not leave Chelsea now. I want to work with him and have great success at his side.”

His dream to work with the Portuguese coach has now gone, since Mourinho was sacked before Christmas.

But probably this will not be enough to stop him to wear a Chelsea shirt soon.

According to several reports, Chelsea have agreed a £30 million deal for midfielder Alex Teixeira.

Talks supposedly began whilst Jose Mourinho was in charge at Stamford Bridge, but Teixeira and new manager Guus Hiddink are still keen on a move.

The 25-year old would be Hiddink’a first signing since becoming the Chelsea boss until the end of the season.

The Shaktar Donetsk midfielder is currently the highest goalscorer in Europe, scoring 22 goals in 15 games in the Ukrainian Premier League. Teixeira has also scored six goals in three Champions League games.

Chelsea as a whole have scored just 21 goals in 17 league games.

It is believed the deal for the 25-year old Brazilian will be finalised in the January transfer window.

Teixeira moved to Ukraine in 2009 from Brazilian side Vasco, and thus far has scored 89 goals in 223 appearances.

The Brazilian will be able to advance his career.

After weeks of speculation, Chelsea target Douglas Costa has signed for Bayern Munich.

Shakthar Donetsk have confirmed the signing, stating that Costa went for €30million/£21million.

After reports of Costa making a move to Chelsea going on for months, Bayern were able to secure his signing. Chelsea will hope that their other transfer targets won’t get snatched away by European rivals.

Costa’s new club were likely to have been impressed by his performance for Shakthar Donetsk in last year’s Champions League round of 16.

The now former Chelsea target spoke on the transfer: “I’m looking forward to playing for this magnificent team and will do everything I can to fulfil the expectations placed in me.”

With reports of Oscar possibly making a departure, Chelsea are now under pressure to seek another attacking midfielder.

Douglas Costa has been a key man for Shaktar this season

Chelsea have shown interest for Douglas Costa in the past few months. The Brazilian was linked to a move to Stamford Bridge before Jose Mourinho deciced to pay £27M for Cuadrado instead.

Chelsea is no longer the only club interested as Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign him. Douglas Costa has always dreamt of playing for Chelsea, however, he wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to work under Pep Guardiola, he was quoting telling Sport Bild:

“Discussions have taken place between my club and Bayern, but so far I know nothing more than the interest of FC Bayern.

“I have been focused on the Copa America. After my time here [in Chile], I’ll talk to my agent. Who would not like to play at Bayern?”

The Brazilian will be able to advance his career.

Douglas Costa is poised to sign with Chelsea in the coming days, according to a number of reports.

The attacking midfielder, currently at Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donetsk, will supposedly sign while representing his country in the Copa America.

With the arrival of Costa, rumours surrounding the potential departure of Oscar could gain credence. However, nothing appears conclusive on that front yet. The signing of another midfielder could just be for squad depth – an important element for any team aiming to compete for every piece of silverware.

Costa has previously expressed a desire to work under José Mourinho. He has also stated that current Blues player Willian is “a friend for life.”

With the signing of Costa reportedly imminent, fans await further events in the transfer window.

Chelsea U19 manager Adi Viveash expressed his immense joy and pride after he saw his side win the UEFA Youth League, the most prestigious trophy in Europe for academy sides, after the 3-2 victory over Shakthar Donetsk yesterday.

An Izzy Brown brace and Dominic Solanke goal was enough to claim the win, with the Young Blues showing huge talent. Viveash said:

“We started the game brilliantly and scored a great early goal through Izzy but then we took our foot off the gas a little and you can’t afford to do that against teams of this quality. Shakhtar then stepped up their game and got a justified equaliser but we did respond well with another strong spell before half-time.

‘We started the second half in the same improved way we did against Roma [in the semi-final] and worked the ball a lot better, scoring two more good goals early on. We dominated the second half and Shakhtar struggled to handle us but then so has every other team we’ve played which is why, when we’re on form, we’re the best.

We’ve scored 36 goals and conceded six in 10 games in the competition and that’s an amazing achievement.

The Chelsea side also won 4-0 against Roma in the semi-final, as well as beating Athletico Madrid, Zenit, Sporting Lisbon and other sides on their journey to lift the trophy.

Their manager went on to say: “It was almost a faultless performance today from a group of young players and we’re the first English team to win this competition now, which is something that nobody can take away from us. The group have really stuck together, regrouped after the Schalke defeat in the group stage and came strong again.”

Viveash amditted that the support from players’ families and Academy staff in the crowd made a big difference and claimed that it was difficult to control his emotions when presented with the trophy after the game.

“Their support means so much to us. Going up those steps and seeing all those faces here nearly got to me and I found it a little bit difficult emotionally.

“I’ve been here eight years now and I took some of these players as Under-12s so for us to win an Under-19 Champions League competition is a wonderful achievement. The whole club should be immensely proud of them.”
