In his press conference before tomorrow’s Premier League game vs Newcastle, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri explained his team are performing very well, but his players are lacking when it comes to score goals.

We need to score,” Sarri stressed. “We need to solve this problem. In the last match we played very well, with continuity and with a very good offensive and defensive phase, and with a great performance from a physical point of view – the best of the season – but we didn’t score. We have to work and try to solve it as soon as possible”.

And, according to the Italian manager, it will be important to score very soon as he expects a game very similar to the ones vs Leicester and Southampton: “I think the match will be the same, but I hope to score in the first 30 minutes,’” Sarri went on. “If the match is the same we have to be patient and improve, not in the offensive phase, but in the box and attacking the box from lateral balls, and improve attacking spaces from uncovered balls. We need to improve in the last 20, 25 metres.”

Also, Sarri revealed that both Andreas Christensen and Callum Hudson-Odoi can feature in the team vs Newcastle even if they played both Chelsea’s cup ties in the last few days. “He [Christensen] has improved in defending by looking at the ball. Now he is ready to play. We have a very good option for David, for Rudiger. I don’t know about tomorrow because he played 2 matches in three days for the first time this season, as Callum did”. Sarri explained. “Callum recovered very well from the first match, yesterday he was a little bit tired but I think that’s normal for the first time in the season when you play two matches in three days. I want to see today the level of recovery.”

For tomorrow’s game vs Nottingham Forest, Sarri’s assistant coach Gianfranco Zola has ruled out Willian, Olivier Giroud and Pedro.

The injuries will leave space for some of the young players”. Zola explained. “There are players who have played five or six games in a short period of time, so it will be necessary to do a little bit of rotation”.

One of the player who will be included in the starting XI will be Callum Hudson-Odoi: “Callum Hudson-Odoi is back in full training. Yesterday he trained with the whole team and he is certainly available”. Zola revealed. “It is very much looking like he is going to play.” Not only he is going to play tomorrow, but the youngster will stay for a long time at Stamford Bridge:

I know Bayern Munich are very interested in him but we are as well. We have proposed him a contract for quite a while so we are waiting to see what the player thinks about that. We certainly value him as a player. I know he has not played probably as much as he wanted but this is down to the quality of the players he has in front of him”. the assistant coach went on. “But I have already told him it is not a waste of time. It is a time you can really get better and I hope Callum is using this time in a wise way as it will do good things to his football, and hopefully he will come to sign the contract with us. We believe he can have a bright future here”.

On the other hand, Cesc Fabregas destiny could probably be different: “Cesc has always been a wonderful professional ever since I have been here. I don’t know to be honest”. Zola said. “You are asking me a question I wish could answer. His contract runs out in six months and I don’t know how it is going to go but despite that, I know if he plays tomorrow he will as usual deliver a good performance.”

After playing yesterday vs Mol Vidi in Chelsea‘s last game in the Europa League‘s group stage, the Blues midfielder Cesc Fabregas claimed he is frustrated for the few chances Maurizio Sarri is giving him during this season.

“I know what my role is. Unfortunately it’s not the one I want,” Fabregas said when asked about his role as backup. “I’m keeping it professional as usual. I’m always trying to do my best, in the conditions, playing with the youngsters, playing with the first team, even though this year I still haven’t played with the full, full first team one game.”

In the last few weeks Cesc Fabregas has been also linked to a move to Ac Milan in the next transfer window or next summer.

Chelsea will face today Vidi in their last Europa League Group stage’s match.

The Blues are already sure to finish top of the table their group so Maurizio Sarri will make some rotations in his Starting XI.

For tomorrow we have three 2000 in the 18. Maybe Odoi will be on the pitch, I don’t know at the moment. Ampadu maybe on the pitch because of Cahill injury. Premier League, I don’t know. I don’t think in Manchester City, United, the other big teams there are 2000 with a lot of minutes. I hope in the future there will be a chance for Callum, for Ampadu. It is up to them I think”. the Italian manager explained.  “Odoi played in August, the Community Shield, two Europa League matches. Tomorrow maybe he is on the pitch so it is four opportunities. I think they have only to play very well in this opportunity. For the moment Odoi did it. Now I am looking forward to Ampadu. The future for them is very important. They have to improve every day. Technically they are very good.”

Willian scored his third goal of the season in Chelsea‘s win at Turf Moor vs Burnley.

The Brazilian winger believes he and his teammates played one of their best games so far in their Premier League campaign.

I think we enjoyed the game and we played very well,” Willian told Chelsea’s official website. “From the beginning they started very well. In the first 10 minutes we coped with the pressure and we were in control. Then we had the ball, we tried to just play, move the ball and have possession. I think we played a great game.”

Willian also claims that the fact a lot of players are performing well and can compete for a place in the Starting XI is one of Chelsea’s secrets: “For sure it’s good for us,” he added, “We have players who are all playing very well and it’s good to have players performing like that.”

TEAM NEWS

Chelsea

– Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri will  face a decision over whether or not he starts Eden Hazard at Turf Moor today.

The Belgian international didn’t train with his teammates at Cobham on Friday after picking up a back injury in the draw against Manchester United last weekend.  Stating he was unsure if he would be fit for the trip at Burnely, Sarri may elect to not risk the 27-year-old with Pedro now back to full fitness.

However, he can bring Hazard on the bench so he can bring him on if the Blues need a goal providing he is fit.

Willian will start his ninth match on the trot for the Blues after impressing in midweek, with Alvaro Morata replacing Olivier Giroud upfront after another frustrating 90 minutes for the Frenchman.

–  Ruben Loftus-Cheek bagged a hat-trick on Thursday night but is not expected to start for the Blues.

– Despite impressing in the comfortable win over BATE, Cahill, Christensen, Davide Zappacosta and Emerson Palmieri will all drop out.

Jorginho rested in Europa League and he is expected to start today
