Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said his team will take tomorrow’s Carabao Cup‘s game vs Chelsea very seriously and that he won’t make many changes to his usual Starting XI.

It’s a competition we like, we showed that especially in my first season. Now we want to show we are ready for that as well. It’s a home game, floodlights, I like it! It’s a sell out at Anfield. it’s a very strong side, so it will be interesting,” Klopp said. “The only position I will confirm today is Simon [Mignolet]. Simon will start. All the rest, you have to wait until tomorrow. But it will be a good team, believe me! I won’t even name the number of changes I will make. One I already confirmed, so it cannot be nil, and it will for sure not be 11. With our rythmn we are used to playing three times a week so let’s do it”.

Klopp also praised the Blues’ boss Maurizio Sarri and claimed Chelsea could fight until the end of the season for the Premier League title:  “The biggest change I ever saw in such a short space of time. Wow. Style completely different. What a manager he is, to be honest,”Klopp said.  “I’m pretty much a supporter of his since I saw him playing at Naples. Outstanding football, and now doing it in a very interrupted pre-season. Eden was not there, Giroud, Kante. Starting the season and you see immediately the impact? All my respect. It’s really good to watch. Good job so far. People were always talking about City being clear, and completely forgot Chelsea. This team is really experienced. It won the title before, 80 per cent won it twice, and they know how it works. That’s a really strong football team.”

French striker Olivier Giroud is happy Chelsea will face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup after their Premier League goalless draw vs West Ham.

They will provide a real test of how good we are,” Giroud told the Evening Standard. “We need to show team character after the West Ham game, so there is nothing better than to play the team at the top of the League. It will be a good test”.

Giroud is also aware the Blues’ boss Maurizio Sarri will make some rotations for the Cup’s game at Anfield, but this won’t weaken the team: “The coach will obviously make some changes for the League Cup tie, but we have many players with quality and we have a good team”. Giroud explained. “We want to be strong and show them that it won’t be easy for them at Anfield. We want to keep the confidence high and come back to London with good momentum and start a winning run again.”

After a difficult season because of many injuries and a difficult relationship with former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, now Brazilian defender David Luiz is enjoying his life at Stamford Bridge and he has regained a place in the Blues’ starting XI.

David Luiz himself believes his new happiness in London is linked with the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as the new Chelsea boss: “First of all he’s a great person, great as a human. I think his philosophy to live life is already great because he wants to enjoy every day, David Luiz told Chelsea’s official magazine. “He wants to be happy and he wanted to take this opportunity to start one more chapter in his life. I think that is one of the most important things in life: when you love to do something, when you’re happy.”

The Brazilian defender also claimed Sarri’s work and philosophy is useful for all the team: “So, I believe in this philosophy, and then after that he is a great coach. He wants to play with the ball, he wants to play with intensity, to work on the details and to give us all the information he can about the next game and the opponent”. the defender explained. “Every week he tries to make the best plan possible for the exact game and this is great because he is working in the best way for the team, for the collective.”

Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu made his competitive debut with Wales on Thursday night and, after the game vs Republic of Ireland, he spoke about his contrasting feelings about the start of the season with the Blues.

You could say there’s been frustration on one hand, but at the same time I’m getting experience training with the players,” Ampadu told reporters. “I’m just trying to improve to get into the team. This season’s plans are this season’s plans and at the moment I’ve just to keep improving to try and get in the team. I want to show the manager what I can do.”

Despite having three more years on his contract with Chelsea, defender Davide Zappacosta has not excluded the chance he could go back to Italy, especially if he doesn’t find enough space in the starting XI under new manager Maurizio Sarri.

Could I return to Italy? Yes, Inter had been after me,” Zappacosta revealed. “My agent Alessandro Lucci had told me about their interest, although I’ve always remained focused on Chelsea”.

Now, the summer transfer window is closed, so Inter Milan or any other team could try to sign the Blues’ wing-back in January: “Could I return in January? I have three more years on my contract here and I only want to think about doing well with Chelsea”. Zappacosta went on. “There’s a lot of competition here, but I want to win a place in the team. After that, it’s clear that if I didn’t find much room, I don’t think any player would like that.”
