Chelsea legend Frank Lampard belives the Blues must change their strategy in the next summer transfer window if they want to compete to win the Premier League.

In particular, Lampard claims, Chelsea have to follow the two Manchester’s clubs example. “It is very evident that in terms of strengthening, they didn’t [last summer]. They lost big players in [Nemanja] Matic and [Diego] Costa and they did buy some but I think the manager wasn’t that happy with that”.  Lampard said. “There was a downturn in performances from the players as well, which can happen having won a league, which is disappointing. It is important for Chelsea, for continuity, to come in the top four. We are not going to win the league this year so they have to come in the top four and try to have a Champions League run. There need to be some serious questions in the summer, to say: ‘Ok, everyone else is recruiting around us, the Manchester clubs in particular’ and you are going to have to match that to a degree to stay in the game. That’s the way football has gone.”

Speaking during the press conference ahead of tomorrow night game vs Chelsea, midfielder Rajda Nainggolan shows his respect for the Blues, but says As Roma will do all they can in order to win the game and come a step closer to the Champions League last 16.

We respect Chelsea but we know how good we are too. They’re a great side but we’ll compete.” – Nainggolan said – Beating Chelsea would certainly be a major step in qualifying for the knockout stage. We know we can still improve, we can still get better. But we will take things one game at a time. Chelsea are a big team, but we know what we are capable of and our worth. We played a great game in London, we could have won it, but we need to be aware of Chelsea too. We will be playing in front of our own fans, a big crowd, and we have everything it takes to win the game.”

Also Nainggolan spoke about Antonio Conte and the fact that Chelsea tried to sign him during the summer transfer window: “Well I made my choice. I am always focused, I always have been, and fully concentrated on doing my best. I never hesitated or thought for a minute about leaving, so it doesn’t matter if it’s Chelsea or anyone else. It’s always nice to play against a top team, and like all professionals I know how to prepare for them. I’m ready to give my best and hope to play well.”

Then Radja Nainggolan also had his say about rotations: “Well a player always wants to play, wants to play every game – otherwise he’s not a footballer. But it is also important to rest and recover, because sometimes other players might be fitter than you. We are rotating at the moment and the results are there to see.”

On the deadline day of 2017 summer transfer window, it seemed striker Fernando Llorente was very close to a move to Chelsea.

However, the player chose to sign for Tottenham and now Llorente himself reveals which was the decisive aspect in his choice:  “The truth is that Chelsea have been after me for a long time but at the end you know how this works,” – Llorente told Sky Sports – “At the very last minute Pochettino called me and convinced meThe Tottenham project is very impressive. They have done very well in the last few years and I think I fit very well with this project. I think I can help them a lot. I’m very happy because at the end everything came out perfect. Tottenham are an amazing club with a wonderful project and I think I fit in very well. I want to put my contribution on it and hopefully I can score many goals to help the club to achieve their targets”.

Nemanja Matic move from Chelsea to Manchester United is still a topic of discussion and former Blues player Ray Wilkins believes the London club made a big mistake.

“It’s the worst I’ve ever seen, if I can say. I cannot see that for the life of me. You’ve got a guy here who was so paramount to Chelsea along with Kante in the middle of the pitch, winning the championship with Chelsea the year before and all of a sudden you’ve sold him to one of or the biggest rival we have” – Wilkins told Metro “I say we because I am a Chelsea supporter so I’m speaking from the heart when I speak. I just could not see that for the life of me, why would we let Nemanja go there? He’s been outstanding for us and you’ve seen in the short period that he’s been there how he’s allowed Pogba to basically do what he wants. I just couldn’t see that piece of business at all.”

After signing with Chelsea on deadline day, now Danny Drinkwater is focused on his new adventure with the Blues and he is particularly keen to renew his partnership with N’Golo Kante.

I played with N’Golo for a season and there was not really a game I didn’t enjoy playing next to him,” Drinkwater told Chelsea official website – “I am looking forward hopefully to carrying on where we left off. I think we hit it off from the first game and after that we did not really lose. He is a top lad, the most down-to-earth person you will meet. I can’t see him changing much and I am looking forward to meeting him again. I am just grateful the transfer is done. Leicester has been great for me but I am looking to carry on from the season before last when we won the Premier League there and I want to win more trophies, which Leicester have understood.”
