Will John Terry retire after Sunday game vs Sunderland? Or will he sign for another team in the Premier League or abroad?

While everybody is waiting for the Blues legend’s decision, Swansea manager Paul Clement confirms his interest in John Terry.

“The fact is I know John, he is a top player and a free agent.” – Clement said “So it would only be sensible to have a discussion with him to see if he would be interested. I don’t know if he has already decided on somewhere else. A lot of the time these things are already done. But if that is not the case and he would be open to a conversation, then I would be open to that as well.”

Chelsea’s manager Antonio Conte reacts after his team victory vs Watford tonight at Stamford Bridge: “It was a big night for us- Conte told Sky Sports – because, despite a lot of changes in the team we scored four goals. Yes, we conceded three goals but we won the game. Now we can write another record this season: if we are able to win next game vs Sunderland, we will win 30 games in this league. I think this will be a great achievement for the club”.

David Moyes failed to avoid the relegation of Sunderland ending their 10-year stay in the Premier League.

The Black Cats suffered a crucial defeat losing 0-1 against Bournemouth on Saturday, when Joshua King’s late winner punished the home side.

Sunderland have picked up only 21 points in 34 games, 23 defeats and 60 goals conceded so far. Jermaine Defoe is the best goalscorer of the team with 14 goals.

Black Cats’ chairman Ellis Short released an official statement yesterday: “We need to improve, both on and off the field, and despite the bitter disappointment of today there is a strong determination to do so throughout the club. There is significant work to be done over the summer and when the season is concluded, we intend to share our plans to move forward with our supporters.”

Chelsea will host Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on 21st of May after beating them at the Stadium of Light on 14th of December.

Ex Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn believes Antonio Conte was fantastic but also lucky in his first season at Chelsea and also added the Italian manager should thank José Mourinho that was in charge for half the past horrible season, with the team not qualifying for European competitions:

“Conte has been pretty extraordinary. It wasn’t so simple at the start,” Quinn told Sky Sports, where he’s a pundit now.

“I thought this man was fired up and it wasn’t really going well.

“You saw this battle-weary and battle-hardened man jumping up and down on the touchline and you were wondering if he could pull it together as they struggled for the first few weeks.

“It’s more than just changing it to three at the back. There’s more to it than that.

“There was a message to the players that we have to do better. It’s been like a well-oiled machine since then.

“He’s also been really lucky with injuries and he’s benefitted from Jose Mourinho’s parting gift to Chelsea of not qualifying for Europe.”

Adnan Januzaj is confident he can learn from his compatriot and ‘good friend’ Eden Hazard, despite the former Manchester United winger is not impressing at Sunderland so far.

He told the Sunderland Echo: “I can learn from him. He has more experience than me. When you are playing against Chelsea there are more players who can make a difference so it’s harder to track all of them”.

“I watch a lot of games in the Premier League when I have free time and that’s where I learn. Hazard is a good friend to me. He is a top player. Whenever he has the ball he is dangerous”.

Then Januzaj added: “He is one of the best players in the Premier League, if not the best, he has so much talent now and I know him well.”

Jordan Pickford, 22 year old Sunderland’s keeper, is attracting attention from various Premier League’s team and Chelsea is reportedly among them.

The Blues are monitoring the young player’s situation, but there are also other candidates: especially Manchester City, Arsenal are all linked to a possible Pickford’s signing during the summer transfer window.

Obviously, much depends on whether Sunderland stay up and, as far as Chelsea is concerned, also on Asmir Begovic’s future with the Bosnia-Erzegovina star linked to Bornemouth last January, but who, at the moment, is willing to stay at Stamford Bridge “if the club count on me and want me to stay here”.

The Anfield big match ends 1-1 but it feels like a win for Chelsea, because their closest rivals all drop points and the Blues increase their gap: in fact, Spurs leave Sunderland with a goalless draw while Arsenal lose 2-1 to Watford at the Emirates and now both teams are second with 47 points, with Chelsea still leading the table with 56, 9 points clear, that at this point of the season can be lost only with a [sport] suicide.

Chelsea could have won a game that Liverpool, anyway, played better if Diego Costa didn´t miss a penalty at minute 77: Mignolet’s save gave even more adrenalin to the Reds, that in the last minutes were even more convinced to get the three points, but the Blues stayed focused and showed their impressive tactical organization, especially in the defense.

Pedro even missed two more chances in a couple of counter attacks, but also Liverpool went close to score when Firmino missed a goal with a weak header, even if the Brazilian missed an even more clamorous occasion half way in the second part, when he sent the ball – really – high on the crossbar when he was alone in front of Courtois, this was just some minutes after Wijaldum’s equaliser, a beautiful header in one of the few occasions where Chelsea defence and Courtois didn’t seem concentrated and ready.

The Dutchman was also the protagonist of the first dangerous chance of the night, when he tested Courtois’ reflexes with a great shot after 11′.

Nothing much happened in the first part, until minute 25′, when Eden Hazard tripped Adam Lallana that pushed him down the floor: on the following free-kick, David Luiz found an incredible powerful shot that surprised Mignolet and took Chelsea to lead 1-0.

After a couple of minutes the Belgian keeper saved a ball coming from a Willian´s free-kick from the left.

Liverpool, anyway, put pressure on Chelsea for the entire game but Conte’s side showed again their great defensive skills and organization.

Despite the draw Chelsea still have a good gap from their chasers and after Arsenal’s defeat tonight they can even face Saturday’s derby with less pressure, even if a win from the Gunners would give them again faith for the title race, so Conte’s guys cannot underestimate this crucial game that, if won, can give them wings in their title’s pursue.

Chelsea made Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon their main target to replace Asmir Begovic, according to the Daily Telegraph.

It is understood Bournemouth have placed a £10m bid for the Bosnia-Herzegovina star, who could leave Stamford Bridge after joining in 2015 from Stoke City.

According to reports Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is also a great admirer of Espanyol’s Diego Lopez and Galatasaray’s Fernando Muslera, but the 34-year-old Celtic goalkeeper is said to be the Blues’ main target to replace Begovic.

Gordon, who previously played in Premier League with Sunderland, could be offered a one-year deal.

Great news for Chelsea and his fans after the first games of this Premier League fixture: title race rivals Liverpool drew 2-2 at Sunderland today, losing 2 precious points at 85′, when Sadio Mané – who had scored the 2-1 goal – provoked a penalty with a handball in the box trying to deflect the ball on a free-kick.

Now the Reds sit second in the table with 44 points, 5 less than Chelsea that got 49, but the Blues got a game in hand, to be played at White Hart Lane against Tottenham on Wednesday night.

A positive situation for Conte‘s guys, that now have the chance to increase their gap with Liverpool in case of a win against Spurs, that would bring them at 52 points, 8 clear on Klopp‘s side.

Meanwhile, other title rivals Manchester City won 2-1 in their home game against Burnley, so now they are third with 42 points.
