Chelsea fan and tennis star Dominic Thiem was delighted after meeting his childhood idol José Mourinho at ATP Finals in London.

The Austrian tennis player is participating at the last ATP tournament of the year at O2 Arena, London, and he met Chelsea legend José Mourinho after his game against Novak Djokovic last Sunday, with the Manchester United manager watching his great performance from the VIP box courtside.

Thiem, a long-time Chelsea fan, lost 2-1 after winning a strong challengend first set against the ex Number 1 in ATP ranking, but Portuguese was full of praise with him and presented him with his VIP pass with a special dedication: “A star is born, a big hug”.

Thiem, number 10 in ATP ranking, revealed after his win against Gael Monfils today that became a Chelsea fan when he was 12, during Mourinho’s first spell at Chelsea and that the Portuguese was one of his childhood heroes. Meeting Jose was a dream coming true for him and the Austrian tennis player also revealed that the ex Blues boss nice words gave him a special motivation, in addition to relieving his disappointment for the defeat.

It is widely known that Jose Mourinho is a big fan of tennis and when he can he appears at the tennis tournaments. One of his favorite players is Andy Murray. Suprisingly Scottish tennis player admitted yesterday that is very eager to know the secrets of the success of the Special One

From 2013 Andy Murray trains at the Chelsea training ground, and from that time he become friendly with the Portuguese coach. The tennis player is truly impressed by Mourinho‘s achievements that is why he is really keen on finding out his secrets of the success.

Murray told yesterday :

“I haven’t met him long enough or in a situation where I could do that,”

“But I’d love to chat to him about those things to understand what it is that makes him great.

“The consistency of his success is pretty incredible really.”

According to Murray’s words ,the presence of well-known trainer on his matches who also is interested in the game, provides additional motivation.

“I said to him that this was a slightly better performance than the last time he came to watch me, which was at the O2 finals last year when I played against Roger (Federer),”

“I think he seems to be quite interested in tennis. He spent a few days obviously this week and maybe will come tomorrow or on Sunday.

“So, yeah, I met him a few times when I had my back surgery, I did a lot of my training and rehab in the Chelsea training ground near to my house. I met with him a few times and he’s a fun guy.”

Mourinho arrived at the Queens club mainly to see one of his favourite players, Andy Murray.

The Special One is known as a big fan of Murray. After his win at the Wimbledon he said :

”Winning Wimbledon is the same for all the players, but for a British player to win Wimbledon after so many years I felt so much emotion. I am not British, but on that day I felt like I was.”
