Chelsea striker Diego Costa doesn’t accept criticism from Spanish media and he wanted to stress this last night, after he played with his national team won 2-0 over Belgium: he entered in the second half to replace injured Alvaro Morata and served the assist for the first of two goals that Manchester City’s David Silva scored against Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois:

“They criticise me a lot and if I played for Real Madrid or Barca and was a natural Spaniard they’d say I had a good game, possibly my best for the team,” said Costa.

“I didn’t score but I can be useful to the team. I participated a lot in the game and I leave here happy, unlike in other games.”

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes his squad has a great spirit following the late win against Watford at Vicarage Road yesterday.

It says we have a great spirit, we keep fighting until the end, even in a difficult game when we were maybe not playing well like last week,” Courtois admitted.

“They had a good opportunity in the first half that I saved with my feet and after I think it was a game between two well-organised teams without great chances. Capoue just had a great shot into the top corner. It was hard for us and I think we fought back well”.

Speaking about his teammate Michy Batshuayi, who came off the bench scoring the equalizer against Watford, the Belgium international added: “I think Michy has showed in both games that when he comes in he wants to score and he shows amazing drive to score, he followed his goal by shooting against the crossbar as well and it’s good to have a great striker on the bench who can score a goal”.

Then Courtois ended: “I think even last year we had a 0-0 here but other teams like United, City, all the big teams I think, find it hard here always. There are no easy games in the Premier League, so I think every away game is always harder, especially here, and it’s a massive three points”.

According to the Croatian side’s manager, Zlatko Kranjcar, Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Dinamo Zagreb goalkeeper Eduardo dos Reis Carvalho, known as simply Eduardo.

Kranjcar was asked whether the Portuguese international was leaving the club and he told Croatian news outlet 24 Sata that he believes that to be case and wishes him all the luck in the world.

“I think so. Eduardo has been given an amazing opportunity to leave for a big club like Chelsea.

“With his arrival we gained security in our team. During my time at the club he has defended his goal very well. Even impressively. But the situation is that he is leaving. May he have all the good luck at the big club.”

Antonio Conte‘s Chelsea are a little short of experienced goalkeepers at the club, with only Asmir Begovic to back up number one keeper Thibaut Courtois. An injury to either of those and the Blues could be in trouble for the rest of the season.

So, with the deal for Eduardo being all but complete, it’s great news for everyone involved with the London club.

Chelsea stars Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois joined their teammates on Sunday to work on preparations for the incoming season with the squad in Los Angeles.

Blues manager Antonio Conte told Chelsea’s official website “I am pleased Eden and Thibaut started to work with us. I am seeing the right attitude for them, and from all the players, this is the most important thing for me”

“Normally after a period of rest the body needs to relax, and now the players are starting to work very well, finding the right shape for the season.”

Chelsea‘s second choice goalkeeper, Asmir Begovic, has his future in doubt at Stamford Bridge after the Blues make a move to sign experienced AC Milan shot stopper Diego Lopez.

Begovic joined Chelsea from Stoke City just 12 months ago but has only made 21 appearances for the club and the majority of those were when no. 1 keeper, Thibaut Courtois, was out injured for 3-months with a knee problem.

It is thought that Courtois will remain as Chelsea‘s first choice, despite strong interest from Real Madrid but Begovic could be forced out, if the deal for Lopez goes through.

Belgium and Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois spoke after the 3-1 quarterfinal defeat to Wales: “It’s the biggest disappointment of my career and I’ve played in the final of the Champions League against Real Madrid with Atletico” he said.

“We started the game well, we created two or three chances and we got the goal. But afterwards we fell back into our half, we left too much space and we couldn’t hit back.”

Asked if Belgium needed a new coach, Chelsea goalkeeper Courtois told RTBF: “This was an opportunity we may not get again. I gave him my opinion in the dressing room. He has to make his own decision.”

“I pointed the finger where it had to be put after the game, we have to remain intelligent. We’re young and we’re going to still spend a lot of time together. But it’s a disappointment because we had a golden chance to go to the final.”

Chelsea goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon fears he could face dismissal after constant disagreement with first-team goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Mail Sport has revealed that the pair had several bust-ups last season after Courtois made it clear he is unhappy with the training techniques that the Frenchman uses.

Lollichon is fearful for his job after incoming boss Antonio Conte has made it clear his aim to keep Courtois settled and focused for next season. Conte could even bring in his own goalkeeping coach which would surely be the end for Lollichon.

Unstoppable: that’s what Eden Hazard was tonight in Belgium victory over Hungary at EURO 2016 round of 16.

The Belgian Red Devils trashed the Magyars 4-0 and the Chelsea number 10 was, without any doubt, the man of the match.

He was back to the levels we were used to admire him in the past season, when his contribution was vital for the Blues to win the Premier League title, and provided the assist with a wonderful cross for the goal of Michy Batshuay in the 2-0 ( 78′), right before scoring the third with a wonderful shot of his from the box limit (80′).

Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld scored the 1-0 goal with a header at 10′ while Atletico Madrid midfielder Ferreira-Carrasco sealed the 4-0 at 91′.

Also the other Chelsea Belgian man, Thibaut Courtois, started the game but it was a quiet night for him.

Belgium will face Wales next Friday 1 July in the quarter finals.

Thibaut Courtois plans to move from Chelsea soon.

The Belgian goalkeeper revealed he has no intention to close his career at Stamfor Bridge:

“I don’t think I will close my career at Chelsea. I didn’t have a favourite club while growing up. In Spain I was following Real Madrid and Barcelona; in Germany Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund; in England Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea; in Italy Juventus and Milan. There wasn’t a favourite club among these, but I’ve always wanted to play in those clubs.

“It’s not necessary to play in one of those clubs, I am already in a grea team, Chelsea, that I’ve always admired, but we have to see what future brings,” he claimed in an interview to Sporza.

Chelsea and Belgium international goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed that he thinks Belgium have been lucky enough to receive an ‘easy’ team in the first knock-out round of the European Championship.

Belgium will play Hungary in the last 16 round and have managed to avoid favourites of the group Portugal.

“We have to admit that we have an ‘easy’ half of the draw because obviously all the teams that are there deserve it but there are no big teams like Spain, France or Italy.”

However, Courtois told RTBF that his team will not underestimate Hungary after they topped their group with considerable ease.

“Of course we have to do everything but Hungary had three good matches and they are first in their group.

“We will be favourites in this match but we’ll have to be careful because they’re going to play defensively and we’ll have to be focused from the start.”
