Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois spoke after his side’s away win against Hull City on Saturday: “It’s too early to talk about us being out of the title race. We all know the Premier League and it can change really fast – he told the London Evening Standard – We are only in October and so I’d say it is too soon to tell. Obviously we have to start winning more of our games.”

“After the international break we have some important games, which we need to win as well. We might be back up there if we do, we will see.”

The Belgium international remarked on Chelsea defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal earlier this season: “In those big games, every small detail can change the game. Against Liverpool, for the first goal they had a lot of players free on the second post and then Jordan Henderson scored a world class goal. To come back from 2-0 is not easy.”

“Against Arsenal it was the same, we conceded two early goals and it is difficult to react. These are the details we need to get going in our favour and then things will be alright.”

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois claims he could go back to Atletico Madrid, a club to which he feels a special bond:

“When I said goodbye I had a bad time. I had cold blood, it was not easy. I cried,” he revealed while speaking to Marca.

“Atlético is a family club. I still feel their love.

“[I would go back] not only because of Atlético, but how Madrid is and the whole country.

From the first minute I fell in love with Spain for its people, lifestyle, food… I still maintain eating dinner and then an afternoon nap, most of the television I see is Spanish… I am half Spanish.”

“I have a contract at ” for three seasons. In 2018, when I enter the final year of the contract, we will assess whether to renew or leave.”

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes the team was ‘a bit shocked’ as they did not start properly the clash against Liverpool last night.

‘We didn’t start well. First half we didn’t have the duels, we didn’t have the second ball, everything was for them” Coutois admitted after the home defeat.

“They pressured us and we couldn’t cope with it. It was very hard and we gave two goals away”.

Courtois Chelsea

In the the second half Chelsea managed to reduce the gap with Diego Costa: “It was a bit better, we scored and had some pressure but I don’t think we had a big chance. The first goal was a set-piece that they took quick, everybody ran to the first ball and they ran to the second ball, put a good cross in and it was a good goal.”

“Everyone was a bit shocked, we didn’t start well and then they scored the second when we didn’t defend well. We tried to come out but when we tried to get better they scored the second.”

“It is from a throw-in, maybe we didn’t follow the man, the ball goes to Henderson with no pressure on him and he makes a world-class goal. Then it’s difficult to create chances. It’s hard, last year we came back against Tottenham. We scored quite early but after that we didn’t have a great chance to score so that’s a pity.”

Chelsea are down 2-0 against Liverpool at the end of the first half: Klopp side dominated the first half, where the Blues didn’t have very important chances.

The Reds almost scored after 12 minutes when Sturridge shot and Courtois couldn’t block the ball while trying to save it, but the Belgian goalkeeper could recover it before the ball entered the goal.

After five minutes, at 17, Lovren was left all alone in the small box when Coutinho put a cross from the left on the second post and Liverpool scored.

Chelsea couldn’t react after going down 1-0 and Liverpool became more dominant, finding the net again with a wonderful shot by Jordan Henderson that entered at the posts cross.

David Luiz got injured to his nose right before the second goal when Mane hit him with an accidental header, but the Brazilian remained on the pitch after being assisted by the medical staff.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Marco Amelia is edging ever closer to join Serie A side Bologna following the injury of both Antonio Mirante and Alfred Gomis, according to reports in Italy.

The 34-year-old Italy international is currently a free agent after terminating his contract with Chelsea at the end of the season.

Amelia joined Chelsea in October 2015 while Thibaut Courtois was recovering from an injury but did not feature with the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea internationals Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois received a host of boos following the 2-0 home loss to Spain under new head coach Roberto Martinez

Chelsea striker Diego Costa assisted David Silva, who scored a brace.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois claimed: “They booed, and that hurts, on the one hand, I understand them. We messed up the Euros and our first game back is very bad”.

“On the other, people need to know that we need them, especially against big teams.”

Chelsea starlet Eden Hazard said: “It’s a new era, it’s a shame, we were expecting a bit of support, even if it’s true we didn’t have a very good game, but we can’t forget everything that we’ve done in the past, we lived some good things together”.

“I hope they’ll be behind us for the next game. They’re the public; they want to see Belgium win. I understand them a bit, but it’s true it’s a shame.”

Chelsea striker Diego Costa doesn’t accept criticism from Spanish media and he wanted to stress this last night, after he played with his national team won 2-0 over Belgium: he entered in the second half to replace injured Alvaro Morata and served the assist for the first of two goals that Manchester City’s David Silva scored against Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois:

“They criticise me a lot and if I played for Real Madrid or Barca and was a natural Spaniard they’d say I had a good game, possibly my best for the team,” said Costa.

“I didn’t score but I can be useful to the team. I participated a lot in the game and I leave here happy, unlike in other games.”

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes his squad has a great spirit following the late win against Watford at Vicarage Road yesterday.

It says we have a great spirit, we keep fighting until the end, even in a difficult game when we were maybe not playing well like last week,” Courtois admitted.

“They had a good opportunity in the first half that I saved with my feet and after I think it was a game between two well-organised teams without great chances. Capoue just had a great shot into the top corner. It was hard for us and I think we fought back well”.

Speaking about his teammate Michy Batshuayi, who came off the bench scoring the equalizer against Watford, the Belgium international added: “I think Michy has showed in both games that when he comes in he wants to score and he shows amazing drive to score, he followed his goal by shooting against the crossbar as well and it’s good to have a great striker on the bench who can score a goal”.

Then Courtois ended: “I think even last year we had a 0-0 here but other teams like United, City, all the big teams I think, find it hard here always. There are no easy games in the Premier League, so I think every away game is always harder, especially here, and it’s a massive three points”.

According to the Croatian side’s manager, Zlatko Kranjcar, Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Dinamo Zagreb goalkeeper Eduardo dos Reis Carvalho, known as simply Eduardo.

Kranjcar was asked whether the Portuguese international was leaving the club and he told Croatian news outlet 24 Sata that he believes that to be case and wishes him all the luck in the world.

“I think so. Eduardo has been given an amazing opportunity to leave for a big club like Chelsea.

“With his arrival we gained security in our team. During my time at the club he has defended his goal very well. Even impressively. But the situation is that he is leaving. May he have all the good luck at the big club.”

Antonio Conte‘s Chelsea are a little short of experienced goalkeepers at the club, with only Asmir Begovic to back up number one keeper Thibaut Courtois. An injury to either of those and the Blues could be in trouble for the rest of the season.

So, with the deal for Eduardo being all but complete, it’s great news for everyone involved with the London club.
