Chelsea boss Antonio Conte spoke ahead of Community Shield clash against Arsenal: the Italian coach is not concerned about some important absences, like the ones of Eden Hazard, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Pedro, all injured:

“It was a pity to lose the FA Cup final against Arsenal after a really great season for us,” he said recalling last May final.

“Now there is another game, we know very well Arsenal are a strong team. We are expecting a difficult game and we want to start the season with a win.

“I think the friendlies have ended for us, this is an official game and the first trophy of the season. It’s an important game, for sure.

“Chelsea and Arsenal are not in the best form because we are in the first part of the season, but we want to play a really good game with high intensity and prepare for the start of the season.’

Speaking about Sunday’s game, Conte said that it’s possible for Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi to play alongside:

“In this moment it could be an option,” the Italian manager revealed.

“When you have Hazard injured, Pedro injured and only Willian, I don’t see other options. For this reason I tried the combination of the two players. For sure, Alvaro wants to play as a number nine but with his characteristics he could play number 10.

“I have another day to make the best decision for the starting 11. Alvaro is working very well and trying to reach the best physical condition and go into our idea of football. He needs a bit of time but he is working very well. I don’t know what my decision will be but he is a really good player and a good person.”

Antonio Conte reveals that Eden Hazard and Tiemoué Bakayoko will skip not only the Community Shield clash against Arsenal but also the first Premier League game against Burnley next week.

The two players are recovering from two different injuries: Hazard broke his ankle while on duty with Belgium in June and Bakayoko underwent a knee surgery last May.

When asked if he knew when the players could be available, Conte said:

“Honestly no. It’s too early and we have to wait and have patience.

“For sure they are improving a lot and recovering very well from their injuries but they are not ready for the start of the season.

“Eden, as you know, has an ankle problem. After surgery it’s important to respect the right time to recover. Bakayoko had surgery in his knee and he is working very well.

“After surgery it is important to expect the right time to recover. Their work is going very well.”

New Chelsea signing Tiemoue Bakayoko hinted to a close return on the pitch with a post on social media.

The French midfielder was still recovering from a knee surgery he underwent last May when he signed for Chelsea some weeks ago and didn’t even take part to the Asian tour to follow a better recovery program in Cobham.

But a message he posted on Twitter this morning revealed we will see him playing soon: according to some rumours, he could be even on the bench in the Community Shield clash against Arsenal next Sunday, ready for his Chelsea debut.

Antonio Conte replied like this when asked about the return of his injured players after Inter game last Saturday:

“We will not rush them back as every player must be in the best of form to play, otherwise they are put in a bad position which could be damaging for the team.”

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has confirmed that latest signing Tiemoue Bakayoko needs to improve under his management as “he still doesn’t know anything about my idea of football”.

“For sure – Conte told London Evening Standard journalist Simon Johnson – He needs a bit of time to adapt and to understand”.

“When you buy a player you need a bit of time to bring the player into your idea. It is the same now for Alvaro Morata and Antonio Rudiger. For sure if the player arrives as soon as possible, it’s easier for me.”

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte gave an update on Eden Hazard and Tiemoue Bakayoko’s injuries.

Hazard broke his ankle while on international duty with Belgium, while Bakayoko is carrying a knee injury that has seen him miss the pre-season tour in China and Singapore.

Both players are set to miss the start of the season, as the Italian manager confirmed:

“It is difficult to say because arrive after a bad injury, after ankle surgery, it is not easy to programme the date to come back. We hope for them to recover very well. Their is recovering very well. You know the importance of these players.

“We will not rush them back as every player must be in the best of form to play, otherwise they are put in a bad position which could be damaging for the team.

“Bakayoko is in a similar position like Eden. For me it is very important to the players to understand my idea of football. For Bakayoko, for example, at the moment he doesn’t know anything about my idea of football.

For sure, he needs a bit of time to adapt and understand and this is the great difficulty for a coach that has an idea of football and wants to give an identity.

“When you take a player you need a bit of time to bring the player into your idea. It is the same now for Morata and for Rudiger. For sure, if the player arrives as soon as possible, it is easy for me.”

Speaking about rumours linking Hazard to Spanish giants like Real Madrid or Barcelona, Conte added:

“I don’t know anything about this situation. In the past I read a lot of stories about Hazard with Real Madrid. And now Barcelona. But this is the transfer market, we must understand this.

“Yes. He is very happy to stay with us and to play for Chelsea.”

New Chelsea signings Tiemoué Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger are set to miss the first part of the Blues Asian tour.

Bakayoko underwent a minor knee surgery in the end of the past seasoon and he is still recovering, while Rudiger is not ready to play yet and will miss the first game against Arsenal next Saturday in Bejing, but he could be available for the clash against Bayern Munich on 25 July or Inter on 29 ( both to be played in Singapore).

Eden Hazard is also not fit to play after suffering a fractured ankle while on duty with Belgium, and he will probably miss the start of the Premier League season: Conte is unsure to bring him to Asia, as it would be better for him to stay in London for a quicker recovery.

Diego Costa in out of the squad, waiting for his move to Atletico Madrid, while Nemanja Matic is not sure to be in the group that will travel to China because he has got chances to leave the club soon.

Mario Pasalic, Lewis Baker, Jeremie Boga and Andreas Christensen are among the youngsters that will jet out to Asia,  after a week back in training with their parent club this week at Cobham Training Centre.

According to reports in the British press Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has put talks for a new deal with the Blues on hold.

The Italian coach was set to sign a new deal with the Stamford Bridge side in this summer, but it seems he is – at the moment- really disappointed by the club activity in the transfer market

Chelsea signed second goalkeeper Willy Caballero, adding two big signings like Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoué Bakayoko in the past week, but the Blues haven’t signed a striker to replace Diego Costa yet and Conte was literally furious after Romelu Lukaku completed is signing to Manchester United, snubbing Chelsea offer ( it is believed the player and the club had already agreed personal terms).

Conte was approached by Inter over the past months, but the Nerazzurri eventually appointed ex Roma manager Luciano Spalletti, since the Blues coach preferred to stay at Chelsea, who offered him £ 9.6m new deal, that hasn’t been signed yet since Conte want more guarantees from the club, especially in the transfer market.

Chelsea beat Fulham 8-2 in a closed doors game at Cobham at the end of the first week of pre-season training.

Second goalkeeper Willy Caballero made his debut in the Blues goal, in the defence we found Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz, and Gary Cahill, who captained the side. Last season’s wing backs Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses played alongside central midfield duo N`golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas. Up front Conte went with Willian and Pedro either side of Michy Batshuayi.

In the second half young players and loan returnees got their chances to impress manager Antonio Conte before the Asian tour, while new signing Tiemoué Bakayoko watched the friendly match from the bench.

The entertaining game finished with Chelsea running out 8-2 winners, with goals from Batshuayi (3), Willian (2), Remy(2), and Azpilicueta from the penalty spot. Fulham`s goals came via an Azpilicueta own goal and a penalty conceeded by Kenedy.
