After the defeat vs Wolverhampton on Wednesday night, Chelsea have fallen 10 points behind Manchester City and the Blues will face Pep Guardiola‘s team on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.

For Maurizio Sarri‘s side another defeat can mean the end of their Premier League title’s hopes, even if Marcos Alonso believes, whatever Saturday’s result will be, it’s too early to write Chelsea’s title hopes off.

It’s too early to talk about it, obviously. If we lose we are going to be 13 points from the top and that’s a lot of points but we have to think, prepare for the game well, and not pay attention to the table at the moment”. Alonso told Sky Sports. It is the perfect opportunity to come back. It will be a great game for sure, everyone will be very motivated to play”.

Also, Marcos Alonso explained where Chelsea have to be better if they want to get a good result vs the current Premier League champions: “We have to play more as a team. It’s something we have to analyse, we will try our best to improve as soon as possible,” Alonso added. “We’re not doing very well at the moment. More individually (than) as a team, we have to get better as a collective. We had the chances to win, we were controlling the game and started the second half having a couple of chances. The last few games we were not loyal to our style of play and, even if we did not deserve it, we lose”.

Chelsea are currently fighting for the top spot in the Premier League table, but Blues’ midfielder Cesc Fabregas believes Maurizio Sarri‘s team could still improve, especially in their “killer instinct” when it comes to score goals.

I believe a lot in this team. As long as we are winning, the confidence of the team will be higher and higher. It’s impossible to be perfect but be as close to perfection as possible” Fabregas said. “Sometimes one nil, two nil, it’s not enough. If we want to be a top team, sometimes we need to go for the kill.”

The Spanish midfielder also said once more what it is his favourite way of playing: “Sometimes you need to take risks. You have to fight for your team-mates and for the club”. Fabregas went on. “My type of football has always been to play with the ball, to have the ball, to create chances, have a forward mentality. Having movement with or without the ball”.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri was very satisfied as he spoke during his post-game press conference at Stamford Bridge after the Blues win over Bournemouth. “I am very happy with my players. They are doing well in the week and the matches”. the Italian manager said. “I am happy with 12 points but I always think we can do more and improve”.

Four win in four games has been a perfect Premier League start so far, but Maurizio Sarri is aware the gap with Manchester City is still huge and he doesn’t want to speak about the title race: “I think it is better now to think about the next match. The gap at the beginning was 30 points, so I think it is very difficult to cover this gap in one season”. Sarri admitted. “I am very happy with the four matches, but only starting from now to the next match”.

The Blues manager commented also on today’s match: “I am happy with the result and the performance. It was a very difficult game, they are very organised and defended very well”. Sarri explained. “The first half was difficult and maybe we needed to move the ball with another speed and without the ball. In this match you can win in the last 20 minutes”.

Then, on Olivier Giroud replacing Alvaro Morata: “It depends the moment of the pitch. We crossed lots so I thought Giroud in that moment was better, it depends on the situation. Alvaro is improving, maybe he needs more space. However, I am lucky because Giroud is very useful”.

On Sunday Chelsea will face Manchester City: Pep Guardiola‘s side are top of the league and they are just few weeks away from winning the Premier League title.

On the other hand the Blues are fighting for a spot in the top four and in the next Champions League, but Chelsea manager Antonio Conte want to be closer to Manchester City beginning from next season and so he invites the London club to share his ambitions.

It is not a question for me about ambition, the club has to show ambition. The coach works every day every hard, but the club has to show ambition”. Conte said and then added about Manchester City:  “We must have great admiration for them, because they are having a fantastic season, it is very difficult to find a weakness in this team. When you work very well and there is great feeling, then you can work the way you want to improve your team. Also City have chance to spend a lot of money, and when you link a good manager and that much money, this is the final result.”

Spanish striker Pedro comments his goal vs Everton at Goodison Park and he defines it probably “the best in a Chelsea shirt”.

“It was nice, on my left foot”. – Pedro said – I`m happy to have scored a goal and for the three points. The points were very important for the team to continue to be at the top of the league. It was good to score again and help the team, and for me, it was an amazing goal.”

Manchester United boss José Mourinho tried to ease the tension before Sunday’s Chelsea game and praised the Blues, claiming they are where they deserve:

“For me, it is just a game. One more game. No difference for me,” the Portuguese said to the press ahead of this important match.

“They are top of the league, it’s not just because they are fresh. It’s also because they have individual quality and they have collective quality.

“They have a certain style of play. They stick to it, they do it very well. Not every team defends with 11 players and they defend with 11 players. Not every team is so objective in their counter-attacks.

“They are very objective in the counter-attack and they have individual players out of the context of the game that can also resolve the problems, so they are a very strong team.”

Chelsea forward Pedro revealed what made Blues so successful this campaign, claiming huge part of the merit is Antonio Conte‘s:

“The mentality has changed, we’re more confident on the pitch, and that confidence is probably the secret as to why we are top of the league.

“Conte speaks a lot with the players, also on the pitch and on the training ground, preparing very well for the games. It’s important for us, when not in the Champions League, to have the time to prepare for the games.

“This is good for the team, but Antonio is a very good coach with good mentality, good ideas as to how to play and win the games. This is the right way.”

Chelsea is now at the top of the Premier League table with a 10 points margin over Tottenham with 11 games remaining.

The Blues seems close to their fifth title, but Antonio Conte doesn’t want his players to relax, as David Luiz confirmed to the Chelsea’s Official website.

“He really loves football,” the defender claimed – “He’s doing a great job but didn’t finish yet and tells us we have to keep focus.”

Antonio Conte can stay at Stamford Bridge at least until 2020: Chelsea is reportedly ready to offer the Italian manager a one year contract extension.

The agreement between the two parts is not official yet, but what is for sure is that Roman Abramovich and the board, after a difficult start of the season, have appreciated Conte’s skills.

At the moment The Blues are leading the Premier League, with 13 games remaining in the season and an eight point gap over Manchester City, and they are in the Fa Cup quarter finals where they will face Manchester United at the beginning of May.

Easy job for Chelsea at King Power Stadium, where the Blues win 3-0 over Leicester without any particular stress.

The game immediately goes onto the right path with Marcos Alonso scoring his first goal at 7′, after Pedro missed a chance on an Azpilicueta cross from the right: Eden Hazard gets the rebound and assists the Spanish full-back, who scores with a great shot from the left of the box.

Chelsea dominate in the first fifteen minutes of the first half, then Leicester try to react looking for the equaliser, being dangerous with Chilwell and Vardy, but Courtois manages to keep his goal clear.

Pedro gets close to score 2-0 in the end of the first part missing an incredible chance after David Luiz and Hazard perfectly carry out a tactic on a free kick.

Six minutes into the second half and Alonso find the goal who seal his personal brace and the game: a shot from the box limit on a Willian’s free-kick from the right that his deflected by Foxes’ captain Wes Morgan with his knee, Schmeichel cannot reach it, 2-0.

Still 39 minutes to go Antonio Conte’s guys find themselves in comfortable position, with Leicester trying to react but showing a poor organisation and not the same spirit that let them win the title last year.

A fact that became even clearer in the 3-0 goal scored by Pedro at 71′ after a poor clear from the Foxes defense, with Willian trying a lob on Schmeichel coming out and Pedro finishing it with a header.

This is the moment where the match ends, with still twenty minutes to go: Chelsea controls it until referee Andre Marriner blows the triple whistle and maintain their gap from Spurs, second with 45, to seven points, with Liverpool ( now fourth with 44) still having one game in hand, the one to be played tomorrow at 4 pm at Old Trafford against Manchester United.

It could seem ironic, but it could Blues former boss José Mourinho to do a big favour to his ex team beating the Reds tomorrow and keeping them in the same place as they are tonight, letting Chelsea seven points above their first chasers.
