Maurizio Sarri has a tight schedule to persuade Chelsea board he deserves to be confirmed as Blues’ manager despite recent and disappointing defeats at Vitality Stadium (4-0 vs Bournemouth) and Etihad Stadium (6-0 vs Man City).

Chelsea will face Europa League last-32 first-leg tie against Malmo on Thursday and the Italian manager sees on the horizon before the end of February both FA Cup (Manchester United) clash and Carabao Cup final (Manchester City).

Sarri will also have to cope with Premier League clashes against Brighton and Tottenham Hotspur, the team who gave Chelsea a “lesson” earlier in November before being eliminated from the Carabao Cup in January.

One month to save his job at Stamford Bridge, according to The Guardian.

While speculations over his future as Chelsea manager are growing up, Sarri told Sky in Italy he has not been in touch with club’s president Roman Abramovich in the recent weeks. “If Abramovich calls me, I will be happy” he said.

“I never really speak to him, so I’d be happy to speak to him. That’s not a problem at all.

But I don’t know what to expect, to be honest with you. You always ask me questions about what the club will do. I don’t know. It will be your job to talk to the club.”

David Luiz scored the winning penalty against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge tonight.

Chelsea booked a place into the Carabao Cup final, where they’ll face Man City.

Speaking after the game, the Brazilian defender told Sky Sports: “It’s a great feeling, but I think the team did great, especially in the first half, we could have scored three or four goals.

“Also in the second half, we controlled the game. They had one opportunity and they scored. But I’m happy with teams, happy with the reaction and the spirit. I’m happy because of that.”

Speaking during his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Carabao Cup semifinal’s second leg vs TottenhamChelsea‘s manager Maurizio Sarri confirmed striker Gonzalo Higuain will sign very soon for the Blues.

Higuain is a few hours away from signing his contract at Chelsea,” Sarri said. ‘We are hoping he will start scoring straightaway for us but there is more to his game than goals. He is a very strong striker and was especially strong during my first season in Naples, he did very well and scored 36 goals in 35 games in Serie A, and 39 in total. For sure he is one of the best strikers in my career, he has the right experience to play here”.

Not only Higuain, according to Sarri, will help Chelsea with his goals, but also thanks to his winning mentality, the aspect about which the Italian manager has strongly criticised his players in the last few days.

He wants to win all the time, in any situation”. Sarri went on. “As far as failure is concerned, I wouldn’t call it that, he still scored nine goals (at AC Milan) and he found himself in a team which is not at the same level at Juventus.”

The Brazilian star was crucial as Chelsea beat Rafa Benitez’s men in a tough clash at Stamford Bridge earlier this afternoon.

Chelsea‘s manager Maurizio Sarri can’t be happy with the result of the Carabao Cup‘s semifinal first leg vs Tottenham as the Spurs defeated the Blues 1-0.

On the other hand, however, the Italian praises his team for their performance: “We deserved more because in this match we played better than the opponents,” Sarri assessed. “We were in control of the match and defended well against a team dangerous in the offensive phase, so we deserved more. We played about 70 balls in the opposition box against 11 balls of Tottenham in our box, 18 shots against seven I think, five goal opportunities against two, so we deserve more. So I am really disappointed with the result but very happy with the performance, one of the most important of the season from my team.”

The performance was good because Chelsea had a different approach from the Premier League‘s game in November: “Because we played with a very good level of application and determination, with the head and with the soul, and we played this way with continuity for 95 minutes”. Sarri went on. “Usually we have defended very well for 60 minutes and then we have had problems with the last 15, 20, 30 minutes. This time the level of application was the same for 95 minutes so I am very happy with this.”

So, even if Chelsea lost the first leg, the team can win the second leg at Stamford Bridge and move on to the Carabao Cup final: “Chelsea v Tottenham is a very difficult match and also for them, so it will not be easy to win at Stamford Bridge but after this performance, if we are able to play on the same level I think that we can do it.” Sarri explained.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri spoke following his side 0-1 defeat at Wembley in the first-leg of Carabao Cup‘s semi-finals last night.

Harry Kane was awarded a penalty following the assistance of VAR which overturned the referee’s decision. Maurizio Sarri confirmed the situation was controversial as ‘Kane was offside, clearly offside’.

Sarri told reporters: “I think that they need to study better the system. It is very strange in the Premier League there is not the system, but in the Carabao Cup suddenly there is the system.

“Of course it is very strange for us, for the players, but also for the referees.”

He added: “In Italy there is the VAR. In the first period it was a disaster, also in Italy it was very difficult for the referee to get used to the system,” the Italian said.

“I think that at the moment here the referees are not ready to use in the right way the system. For example, apart from the image in our camera, Kane was offside, clearly offside, but it is not important.

“I think it is more important that the linesman stopped running, he didn’t follow the ball, so for the players on the pitch it is clearly offside so I think he had a big influence on our defenders”.

The second leg will be played at Stamford Bridge on Thursday 24 January.

Speaking during his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s night Carabao Cup semifinal vs TottenhamChelsea‘s manager Maurizio Sarri gave some injury’s updates.

Pedro, Willian and Giroud are doing better, yesterday they had training with their team-mates, with the group”. the Italian explained. “I don’t know if they will be able to play tomorrow, maybe not for 90 minutes.’

On the other hand, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who left the pitch during Saturday’s Fa Cup game at Stamford Bridge vs Nottingham Forest won’t be part of the team tomorrow at Wembley: “Loftus-Cheek of course is out now, we have to understand the situation with his back because in the last month he was in trouble.” Sarri added.

Then, Sarri also spoke about January transfer window: he admitted he thinks Fabregas should leave Chelsea, but, in that case, the club must sign a replacement: “I can say only my opinion. I don’t know the decision of the club. In my opinion he needs to go. You know very well the situation and in this club there is a rule, the renewal for players over 30 is usually one year, he has an offer for three years and I don’t want a very important player like Cesc not happy, but that’s only my opinion, it depends on the club”. Sarri claimed. “If Cesc will go of course we need a replacement. Now with the midfielders we are in trouble because I don’t know about the situation with Loftus-Cheek, if it’s serious or not, without Cesc we only have five so we need a replacement.”

Tomorrow Chelsea will face Tottenham at Wembley in the Carabao Cup semifinal’s first leg.

The Blues and the Spurs have already met in the Premier League when Mauricio Pochettino‘s side defeated Chelsea 3-1. Things have to be different tomorrow night as Maurizio Sarri explained during his pre-game press conference.

We need to approach this match in another way because we lost that way in the first 15 minutes”. the Italian manager said. “They were more aggressive and determined than us. We know if the approach is the same then there’s no solution for us. I want to speak before about this”

The Blues’ approach to the game will be the most important thing, but it won’t be the only thing Sarri is going to change: “We will change tactics, I think.” he added.

Chelsea get a vital win at Selhurst Park after beating London rivals Crystal Palace thanks to N’Golo Kante‘s  in the 51st minute.

The Blues had three clear chances to break the deadlock in the first half as Willian hit the post from a free-kick before Ross Barkley tried to beat Guaita with an acrobatic effort which goes on the woodwork again. The Brazilian winger had another chance, but his fine strike from a long range is deflected by the keeper.

Chelsea take the lead earlier in the second period when David Luiz assists N’Golo Kante, who picks the ball down and scores to put Maurizio Sarri‘s men in front in South London.

Olivier Giroud had two goals denied due to offside and was replaced by Alvaro Morata after picking-up an injury, however Kante’s mark ensures the Blues end 2018 with a win and 43 points. Tottenham Hotspur, who currently sitting 2nd in the Premier League table, are just 2 points above Chelsea after losing at Wembley Stadium against Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

CRYSTAL PALACE (4-3-3) – Guaita; Wan-Bissaka, Tomkins, Sakho, Van Aanholt; Milivojevic, Kouyate (Meyer 79′), McArthur; Townsend, Zaha, Schlupp (Wickham 69′)

CHELSEA (4-3-3) – Kepa; Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Rudiger, Marcos Alonso; Kante, Jorginho, Barkley (Kovacic 88′); Willian (Emerson 8′), Giroud (Morata 77′), Hazard
