Antonio Rudiger could become a Chelsea player next week as the Blues lead the race for the German defender.

Rudiger is being chased by a number of top European clubs, including Chelsea’s Premiership rivals Arsenal, but the Champions are the only ones with enough money to persuade VfB Stuttgart to sell.

There were suggestions in the past few days that Chelsea might have Roma as a rival after the Serie A club sold Alessio Romagnoli to AC Milan. Roma did indeed make an offer, significantly less than the price Chelsea are willing to pay, and were turned away.

Rudiger has been a Stuttgart player since 2011 having signed from Borussia Dortmund where he won one league title. He has been capped by the German national team six times.

Stuttgart centre-back Antonio Rudiger is the subject of interest from Chelsea since a long time. His agent Sahr Senesie has confirmed that he is aware of interest in his player but in his opinion Rudiger will stay in Germany.

Chelseanews 24 informed two days ago that Chelsea have made a bid of £12.8M for the player. However in a recent interview the player’s agent said that even if he knows about the interest from Chelsea he doubts if Rudiger will decide to leave Germany.

Sahr Senesie told Kicker :

“I know there’s interest from Chelsea and Wolfsburg,”

”Antonio would love to stay in Germany.”

However footballer over a year expressed a positive view on the potential possibilities of playing in the future in the Premier League.  Journalists recall that a year ago Rudiger said :

“Of course I am aware of the interest from Manchester United,”

“They are definitely one of the top clubs in Europe and they are in a league I have been dreaming of. The Premier League is very physical, intense, breathtaking and with a lot of goals.”

“My focus, though, remains on playing for Stuttgart. For now, I just have to try and progress as a player.”

On the potential Rudiger’s transfer recently appeared a lot of rumors, so better to wait for some confirmed information.

The Germany and Vfb Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger wants to join Chelsea, according to reports in Germany today.

Rudiger has been linked with a move to the Premiership in recent weeks. Chelsea News 24 reported in May that the champions were, along with fellow London club West Ham United, leading the race to sign the 22-year old, but popular German daily newspaper Bild is reporting that the former Borussia Dortmund centre-back has made joining Jose Mourinho’s side his aim.

The Chelsea manager is looking for a quality young centre-back to ultimately replace John Terry when the former-England captain retires. Raphael Varane and Toby Alderweireld are two of the many defenders Chelsea have been linked, but a deal for Rudiger appears more likely than it did after speculation for those two cooled significantly.

Oriol Romeu joined Chelsea in 2011 from Barcelona. He signed a four-year deal worth €5 million and made his official debut on 10 September 2011. Even if last year he signed a new contract with Chelsea he seems to be a bit doubtful about his future at Stamford Bridge.

23-year-old midfielder is looking forward to Chelsea pre-season. With two-year left on his contract the Spanish player does not rule out any possibility.

He told IB Times UK :

”On 6 July I will start the pre-season with Chelsea and then we will see what is best for me. We will see whether I can win a place here or if it is better go on loan. We will analyse the options but fortunately the Chelsea sporting director [Michael Emenalo] had told me that there are a number of clubs interested in me. There are some interesting options in England and in Spain so let’s see how the pre-season goes and then make a decision.”

Romeu spend his last two season on a loans. In 2013 he joined Valencia where he made 13 appearances then last year he joined VfB Stuttgart where he was played in 27 matches. The young player is aware that it will be more then hard for him to join Chelsea’s first-team that is why he is open for new challenges.

“I don’t want to stay at Chelsea to not have playing time. Any player wants continuity and knowing that there are clubs interested in me maybe it is better to go to keep playing.”

The sporting director told me they still have me in their mind for the future as that’s why they extended my deal last summer. They told me they don’t have much depth in my position and hopefully one day and I can make the step up to Chelsea.”

“Chelsea are likely to sign someone but I wish to prove during the season they can count on me. But at Chelsea you have to be the best to play. Honestly this year I can’t demand them to have a regular first-team role. If I would have had an amazing season [on loan at Stuttgart] it may be different but now I just have to accept what they told me and if they consider a new loan is best I will do that.”
