Speaking ahead of tomorrow night’s game vs BrightonChelsea’s manager Maurizio Sarri admitted Callum Hudson-Odoi could make his debut in the Blues’ starting XI in a Premier League game.

I know very well Callum, and I want him to improve more because the potential is higher. And Callum is always in my mind. In my opinion, he is our future”. Sarri explained. Now he’s ready to play. Probably he will start tomorrow or in the next match Firstly I want to see the condition of all the players. The condition of Willy, Pedro, Eden, all the wingers. But of course, he is in my mind.”.

The Italian also said he has always thought about Callum Hudson-Odoi as an important player for Chelsea: “First of all, in pre-season after four or five training sessions, I realised that Callum was really a player with a very great potential.  In my opinion, in that moment, he wasn’t ready to play at this level. But during the season, he has improved. And now he’s ready to play.” Sarri went on. “But I decided at the beginning of the season that he had to stay with us, and I put him in the squad. So I know very well Callum, and I want him to improve more because the potential is higher. And Callum is always in my mind. In my opinion, he is our future”.

Tonight Chelsea will face Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in a crucial and difficult Fa Cup game.

It’s a huge game, a very difficult game as well,” Willian  told Chelsea’s official website ‘They are in a good moment and playing very well but we play at home and we have to do our job, which is to try to win the game in front of our fans. It will, for sure, be a difficult game for us. They have technical players, a strong team and they are Man United so we have to respect that. It will be a big game”.

Also the Blues want to win the game because the Fa Cup is one of the trophies they can win this season: “We know it’s a different game, not the Premier League but the FA Cup, and we want to win something this season”. Willian went on. “We have great opportunities to win something. We have this one, against them, we have the Carabao Cup, we have the Europa League, and the Premier League is very difficult but we can reach the top four. So we can go from now until the end of the season and do great things.”

Willian brace and Callum Odson-Hodoi’s goal against Sheffield Wednesday sent Chelsea to FA Cup last 16 tonight.

New Blues striker Gonzalo Higuain made his debut with the Blues shirt with an average performance and was far to impress but he will have time to adapt to English football.

Chelsea scored his first goal with Willian on penalty,  Hudson-Odoi ( who could move on loan elsewhere in the next days) scored the second goal at 64′ finding space inside the area and firing in off Keiren Westwood to put the Londoners in total control.

Willian then sealed the match at 83′ with an outstanding finish from the edge of the box.

Both in the summer and in the January transfer window, Spanish giant Barcelona have shown their interest for Chelsea‘s star Willian.

However, the Brazilian claimed he wants to stay in London with the Blues:

My future is here, I have one-and-a-half years on my contract left, and I want to stay until it is finished,” Willian told The Daily Mirror.

Not only this, as Willian hopes also the club will offer him a contract extension: “I don’t know if the club want me to sign a new contract, but my focus is here. I would like a new contract. If they want it, I want it”. the Blues star revealed. “I have been here for five-and-a-half years, won a lot of titles. I am very happy. To play for Chelsea, you have to put your mind to winning titles every year.”

Speaking during his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s night Carabao Cup semifinal vs TottenhamChelsea‘s manager Maurizio Sarri gave some injury’s updates.

Pedro, Willian and Giroud are doing better, yesterday they had training with their team-mates, with the group”. the Italian explained. “I don’t know if they will be able to play tomorrow, maybe not for 90 minutes.’

On the other hand, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who left the pitch during Saturday’s Fa Cup game at Stamford Bridge vs Nottingham Forest won’t be part of the team tomorrow at Wembley: “Loftus-Cheek of course is out now, we have to understand the situation with his back because in the last month he was in trouble.” Sarri added.

Then, Sarri also spoke about January transfer window: he admitted he thinks Fabregas should leave Chelsea, but, in that case, the club must sign a replacement: “I can say only my opinion. I don’t know the decision of the club. In my opinion he needs to go. You know very well the situation and in this club there is a rule, the renewal for players over 30 is usually one year, he has an offer for three years and I don’t want a very important player like Cesc not happy, but that’s only my opinion, it depends on the club”. Sarri claimed. “If Cesc will go of course we need a replacement. Now with the midfielders we are in trouble because I don’t know about the situation with Loftus-Cheek, if it’s serious or not, without Cesc we only have five so we need a replacement.”

Chelsea failed to reduce the gap on Man City and Tottenham as Southampton held on for a point at Stamford Bridge, a bad-tempered draw for the Blues following two away wins in a row.

Maurizio Sarri‘s men had several chances to open the scoring in a tough first half against the Saints, but goalkeeper Gunn made two brilliant saves to deny Alvaro Morata’s header as well as Eden Hazard’s effort in the 34th minute.

Winger Willian was forced to leave the pitch after suffering a knock from defender Yoshida earlier in the first half.

Southampton created their first chance of the game in the second period as Armstrong tried to beat Kepa Arrizabalaga through a fine shot, which was deflected by the Chelsea star. The Spaniard also stopped a low effort from former Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu.

Alvaro Morata managed to put Blues in front with 20 minutes left to go but was flagged offside in a controversial call. The Chelsea forward had been brilliantly assisted by Cesc Fabregas, who replaced Ross Barkley in the second half.

Another save from Southampton goalkeeper Gunn denied Morata’s shot from a close range in the 78th minute, before Marcos Alonso tried to break the deadlock from 20-yards-out, then appealing for a penalty in the extra-time.

Tonight’s goalless draw at Stamford Bridge means Chelsea remain 4th in the Premier League table just three points behind Man City, who face Liverpool tomorrow night. Manchester United are rising up the table after grabbing their fourth win in a row since Gunnar Solskjær replaced José Mourinho.

Maurizio Sarri’s men will take on Nottingham Forest on Saturday (FA Cup Third Round) before facing Tottenham Hotspurs in the first leg of Carabao Cup semi-finals. The next Premier League clash for Blues is scheduled on Saturday 12nd January (against Newcastle United at home).

CHELSEA (4-3-3) – Kepa; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, David Luiz, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho, Barkley (Fabregas 69′); Willian (Loftus-Cheek 37′), Morata, Hazard

SOUTHAMPTON (3-4-3) – Gunn; Bednarek, Yoshida, Vestergaard; Valery, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Cedric; Redmond (Stephens 90+5′), Ings (Long 45′), Armstrong (Austin 90′)

Bookings: Rudiger, Bednarek, Romeu

Chelsea stiker Willian recognises the Blues gained three massive points last night vs Watford:

It was very difficult,” Willian told Chelsea official website,  “In the Premier League there are no easy games, every match is tough to play, but we got the three points and we played very well. We had a lot of possession and we created a lot of chances but the Premier League is like this, until the end you have to fight, and now we have to continue.”

The Brazilian was very unlucky at Vicarage Road as he hit the post twice, but he knows the most important thing is to keep winning games:  “I think I was unlucky in the first half when I went one against one with the keeper and hit the post,” Willian went on. “We had control of the game, we scored to make it 1-0 but then we conceded a goal. We went out for the second half with the same mentality, scored a goal and tried to create some chances. We were unlucky again, I hit the post twice, but like I said we have to continue in the same way now, we cannot go up and down anymore.”

Willian hit the posts, Eden Hazard scored twice and he became the 10th Chelsea’s player to score 100 goals for the club. “I’m happy for him,” Willian  concluded. “I’m happy because he helped us to win and happy he has scored 101 goals for Chelsea, so I hope there’s more to come from him. Now we have to think about Crystal Palace.”
