Brazialian winger Willian started in Maurizio Sarri‘s first Premier League game as Chelsea boss on Saturday vs Huddersfield Town.

Willian himself admitted the appointment of the former SS Napoli manager was crucial in his choice to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Would I be here if Conte stayed? No chance. No.” Willian said. “I’m here. I’m here because I want to play for Chelsea. I will only leave if Chelsea want me to go.”

Then the Brazilian spoke also about Maurizio Sarri: “He wants to build from the back. This is what we will try to do this season”. Willian went on. “This is what we do in Brazil and are trying to do here, playing with skill and movement and the manager told us to do that.”

Chelsea wingers Pedro and Willian believes the 0-3 victory at John Smith’s stadium was the best way to start the new season ahead of next Premier League clash against London rivals Arsenal.

Pedro told Chelsea’s official TV juts after the game: “It has been really good, the team has been very good with the ball on the pitch, good also in finding the space. It was a very good result for us, good for the confidence.

It’s very important to be very passionate in moving the ball, to be strong with this two lines and to find the space. In the second half we played pretty well, maybe we had more space. It was important today, I think between the lines we worked very hard and very good”.

Eden Hazard provided a clever assist for Pedro in the 80th minute: “He’s the best player here, he started very good with a long run and a pretty move. He creates a lot of chances, the pass and the goal is a good way to start the season, the best way to get confidence and be prepared during the week”.

The Belgian star came off the bench in the second half to replace Willian, who told the club’s official website: “Pedro scored a beautiful goal! It was a good performance from the beginning to the end, we were in control of the game and possessio. It’s very important to move [quickly] and change positions. This is what we did today, in front we have a good quality”.

Chelsea winger Willian played his first game with the Blues since Maurizio Sarri‘s appointment in Community Shield defeat to Man City yesterday.

The 29-year-old, who played at the World Cup 2018 with La Seleçao, had a couple of extra-weeks to rest after the competition was over and came back in action just three days ago.

It is understood Chelsea have already rejected several bids from Barcelona, with also Real Madrid and Manchester United reportedly interested in the Brazilian star.

Speaking in the mixed zone after the game, Willian said: “I’m happy here, I’m happy at Chelsea to play here. I’m looking forward to playing well and to win titles. I feel good, I feel good after three days of training, of course I am not my best performance, my best condition”.

“And we have to look forward because we have a great season to play and we’re going to try to win some titles.

“We have to learn in every game, not only this game, of course we want to win but we didn’t so now we have to keep going. We have a new manager with a new philosophy, a new profile of football so I have to keep going and try to train hard every day”.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri spoke following today’s 2-0 defeat to Man City at Wembley. Sergio El Kun Aguero scored a brace to secure Pep Guardiola the Community Shield 2018.

When asked about the uncertainty around Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard and Willian’s future at the club, Sarri said: “I talk to them two days ago so I know what they will say to me tomorrow. I’m ready. But I think more good than bad.”

On Courtois’ agent, who recently said the Belgian goalkeeper wants to live with his children in Madrid, he added: “I am not interested in the agent. I want to hear if Courtois will say the same to me. I only want players with a very high level of motivation.”

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri seemed satisfied about his team performance in tonight’s game vs Arsenal.

We had the first training on the 16 of July. We are late compared to Arsenal on the physical condition”. Sarri said in his post-match press conference. We have done very well in the first half and then we made a mistake in the last minute”.

Then the Italian manager praised Hudson-Odoi, one of the best Chelsea players tonight and “justified” Alvaro Morata who missed a penalty in the first half.  “Hudson-Odoi is a young player. We have to wait. But in the future he will be a very, very strong player”. Sarri explained. “Will he be in the first team squad? I think so He will be staying with us for all the season”.

On Morata, on the other hand: “I don’t know if he’s not confident. Maybe he was tired. The last three days for him have been very intense so maybe in this match he was tired”.

Finally, Maurizio Sarri spoke also about Willian, Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois who could leave Chelsea in the last few days of 2018 summer transfer window. “I will see them on Saturday for the first time so I don’t know the situation in this moment. the Italian manager admitted. “We are talking about top players and I think every club wants to keep top players”.

Brazilian star Willian was expected to join his team-mates today and continue his pre-season training with Chelsea.

However, the Blues winger didn’t show up explaing his delay has been caused by problems with his passport.

Willian’s behaviour could be interpreted also as a way to force Chelsea to sell him in the last few days of this summer transfer window as Real Madrid reportedly offer £65m to sign him.

Chelsea are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic and look set to place a massive bid to sign the USA international if Willian is sold this summer.

Standard Sport understand the Bundesliga giants are reluctant to sell the 19-year-old but could consider to let him go for a fee in the region of £62m.

Pulisic is contracted with Borussia Dortmund until June 2020. He scored a brace in the International Champions Cup clash against Liverpool on 22nd July.

It is understood Real Madrid are considering to place a £100m bid to land Chelsea pair Thibaut Courtois and Willian, who’s been also linked with a move to both Barcelona and Manchester United.

The Brazilian star has been also linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Monaco and Serie A giants AC Milan.

The 25-year-old joined the Ukrainian side from Atletico Mineiro in 2013 and scored 14 goals from 96 games.

Bernard joined Shakhtar Donetsk to replace Willian when the current Chelsea winger joined Anzhi on a £30m move in January 2013.

Marcos Alonso told SkySports HQ he’s glad Chelsea quartet Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, N’Golo Kante and Willian are having some rest following the World Cup 2018 in Russia.

He added: “They will hopefully come with batteries charged to have a good season with us. They are Chelsea players, I am not even thinking about that [them leaving]: I am looking forward to seeing them after holidays”.

“They are top players, very important for us. Every season with Chelsea we have to fight for every competition and we will go for it”.

It is understood Real Madrid are plotting a massive bid to land both Courtois and Hazard to Santiago Bernabeu after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure earlier this summer.

Barcelona have reportedly given up in their pursuit of Chelsea winger Willian, while N’Golo Kante remains a target to revamp midfield.

Moreover, SSC Napoli‘s president Aurelio De Laurentiis is reportedly keeping tabs also on Olivier Giroud as Carlo Ancelotti wants to bring in a new striker.
