PLAYER RATINGS

Starting XI

COURTOIS 6.5 – Not a busy day, but decisive save in the first half from Gil, when Chelsea were just 1-0 up

AZPILICUETA 6.5- Very active in the attacking plays, not perfect in defense: Villa attacked mostly on his side

MIAZGA 7 – Impressive debut, he didn’t concede anything to his rivals. Very concentrated and keen to keep a clean sheet.

IVANOVIC 6.5- Acted like a real captain and leader, very focused

BABA 5.5- Not the best display, a mistake in clearing after Courtois’ save on Gil gave a great chance for Ayew to draw level in the first half

FABREGAS 7- He is back to last years level: unfortunately, too late

MIKEL 6.5 - Great first half, he showed a lot of confidence maybe a little tired in the second half

LOFTUS-CHEEK 7.5 – Man of the Match: super in the first half, he was everywhere. Really keen playmaker, he suffered a little fatigue towards the end of the game.

KENEDY 6.5 - He always played with the right attitude, great play for the first goal.

PEDRO 7.5 – The other Man of the Match with Loftus-Cheek: he was involved in every dangerous action, scored a brace, sealed the game…what more do you need?

REMY 6- He got injured and didn’t have many chances before. Twenty minutes of nothing

Subs

PATO 7- Good debut, he still misses some pace, but he was very confident on the penalty, and then played more fluently in the second half. Superb pass for Oscar in the build up for the third goal.

OSCAR 6.5 - He entered and immediately gave an assist, then the game was in control and didn’t have to work too much

CLARKE-SALTER 6 – He entered when the game was already over, but he looked confident and well-focused on his debut

Manager

HIDDINK 6.5 - Not the toughest match to prepare for, but with these kind of sides the biggest mistake would have been to underestimate them: with his experience it was almost impossible to fail. The team was always in control of the game and remained focused when they were 4 goals up after just 60 minutes.
