Courtois 8: Made some good saves and commanded his area well. Unlucky not to have kept Tadic penalty out.

Terry 6 – Allowed Long far too much space. He was Chelsea’s best defender despite  not playing his best

Cahill 6 - Unable to deal with the pace of Long and Mame, though he made some excellent tackles to deny the saint forwards two goal scoring opportunity

Azpilacueta 6 – Rarely tested during the match. He got forward but wasn’t much of a threat

Ivanovic 6 – Provided the assist for Costa’ goal, however he also played a part in his side conceding the penalty that pulled the saints leveled

Matic 4 - Hasn’t looked his best since return from suspension, and was at fault for the penalty. Lucky not to have seen red before being taken off

Oscar 6 -  Had a decent game, and was twice denied by Forster in the second half

Willian 5 – Full of energy the whole game, however lacked end product in the final third

Fabregas 5 - Sloppy with his passing and didn’t help much defensively

Hazard 7 - Consistently at his brilliant best, beating defenders and driving at the Southampton defence every time he had the ball. Couldn’t find a break through unfortunately

Costa 7 - Scored his first goal in two months, Led the line well with energy and confidence

Subs:

Cuadrado 5 – Was a little indecisive in possession. Needs time to adapt to the Premier League

Remy  5 – Came on as a late substitue and almost won the game for the blues. Didn’t have sufficient minutes on the pitch.

Ramires 6 – Replaced Matic for the last half hour of the game but didn’t really change the dynamic of the match.

Manager:

Mourinho 6 – The Portuguese made one change to the team that lost to PSG in the Champions League, with  Willian being preferred to Ramires. Despite a lacklustre first half, Mourinho half time team talk galvanized the Blues to a better second half showing. they were in a bit unlucky not to have pickeyd up all three points due to some brilliant saves from the Southampton keeper.
