Lambert: “We can win, but we have to perform”

Wolves manager Paul Lambert is confident his team can beat Chelsea tomorrow in the Fa Cup fifth round clash at Molineux.

The Championship side has already knockes out two Premier League teams in the previous two rounds (Stoke City and Liverpool, both away) and now captain Stearman and his teammates want to continue their run in the current Fa Cup.

“As long as we can stay in the game as long as we can and not let the occasion over-awe us then let’s see what happens. – says Lambert – We’re up against a team that’s eight points clear in the Premier League with a great manager and a great team who are playing ever so well. But on one given day, you never know. Like at Liverpool, we have to try and take them out their comfort zone. I’ve watched a few games of theirs and been to see them live. If we play short passes near our goal and we lose it we’ll be in trouble. We have to find a way to eradicate that, limit mistakes as best we can. On any given day we can win. But we have to perform. As long as we play the game and not the occasion we’ll see what happens. We’ve got to stay in the game.”

For tomorrow’s game neither Joe Mason nor Ivan Cavaleiro will be available for Wolves’ selection while Lambert is hoping Jack Price and Nouha Dicko can play at least some minutes.

Wolverhampton is currently 18th in the Sky Bet Championship’s league table and they lost the last three league games.
